Fairfield Inn & Suites By Marriott Duluth Waterfront

We liked this property because it was so close to the Lift Bridge and Canal park. It was clean and close to places we wanted to go. It was a base for us when we traveled up further north to Split Rock lighthouse and Gooseberry falls and other destinations. This was the second time we have stayed here. The breakfast was good, a nice variety of hot and cold.

The only thing I can really think of that I did not like was that the refrigerator was small and did not have a freezer for our multiple set of ice packs. So we did not have anything to keep our drinks and food cold when we left to go on our excursions.

Our daughter suffers from anxiety and sensory overload. There were no disability rooms available, but the person checking us in said that she had a room that was larger than the normal room. We got room 302 and it worked out perfectly. Also by accident we left a few items in the refrigerator, including a small figurine in a takeout box that my daughter uses to settle her anxiety. I called the hotel and a Diana ran up to our room that we had checked out of. The room hadn't been cleaned and Diana was able to secure the items. We went back within the hour (we were on a fishing charter when we discovered the items were still at the hotel) and picked up the items. My daughter was relieved. The staff went above and beyond to help us out. It was a relief to us.

The breakfast had good options (eggs, sausage, oatmeal, waffles, yogurt, fruit). Really appreciated the milk, yogurt and bananas.

I wish there was more variety with the egg choices. All three mornings, it was an omelet with peppers. Would have been nice to have scrambled eggs, boiled eggs or a couple of different types of omelets. The sausage biscuit was soggy.

The location was great! The bed was comfortable and it was an amazing view watching the fireworks and ships come in through the lift bridge. It was also fun walking around the small marina seeing the different boats.

The pool is tiny and no hot tub, and the pull out couch bed was really yellow and hard and you could tell they had not cleaned under the couch as it was full of crumbs and garbage 🤢 also comparable in price to hotels near by they had no real amenities. No smores or bonfire and no where to really enjoy outside.

The breakfast was very good. The dining area very well designed, as was the room.

For a building I assumed was newer, better attention should be made for sound attenuation between rooms. We didn’t hear anyone to either side of us, not sure the rooms were occupied, but early in the a.m., we could hear people walking about, murmuring of voices. Surprised at how noisy it was. At ground level, it would be good to have a sheer on the window. It was an all or nothing proposition - on display to the parking lot, or total black out curtains.

Appreciated the 24-hour a day market/pantry at the Fairfield Inn & Suites By Marriott Duluth Waterfront -- it was an unexpected treat to be able to grab snacks in the middle of the night. Also appreciated how close it is to Canal Park, but far enough way where it didn't feel so touristy. The view I had from room 311 overlooking the harbor, lift bridge, and Duluth's hillside was exactly what I needed to see to feel refreshed after a day of traveling.

I feel like the room rate for a Sunday night was $100 too high, but that's where touristy places like this get ya. Would've also enjoyed being asked if I'd like a late checkout.

Bathroom was great. Loved the big walk-in shower. Room overall was excellent. Breakfast good although coffee was terrible, too weak.

Coffee. Room rate was very high such that while the room was excellent, the room rate was higher than I expect for Fairfield.. No doubt due to HIGH demand for a summer festival Friday on Duluth.

There was quite the line for the waffle machine. And it was difficult to unstick the waffles from the iron, even with copious spray. May need to invest in more of these. Otherwise the breakfast was delicious

Very clean and spacious room. Staff was nice and efficient with getting us checked in. Also, the location was excellent! Only few minutes of driving to all the spots we had planned for the day.

Breakfast was very good and complimentary with the room. I was able to get a hot beverage throughout the evening. The Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.

The room was over priced. The hand-held shower water pressure was low and they should replace that unit. The hair dryer rattled and has seen it's better days.
