The Carolina Inn, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel

The recent renovations, infusing the history of the property and UNC Chapel into all the rooms, even the common areas. The proximity to campus, a 10 minute walk. The customer service was above and beyond. The bartenders make excellent cocktails!

The size of the rooms and the Wifi. I completely understand that one pays for the history, and location, while staying here. (The hotel was built in the 1920s.) Thank goodness I was solo traveling for work, as the room was quite cramped. I constantly bumped into things. Small quarters, I understood, were a given. (Though I hear there are suites, so that'd be good for a family.) The dropping of the wifi? After 5 pm, I would get constantly kicked off and it was frustrating as I was doing work emails. Request a room with good wifi!

The hotel was historic and I really appreciated the historical pictures & descriptions throughout the hotel. The staff was accommodating and the decor lovely. I also liked that the UNC campus and restaurants where in walking distance

My room was very small. I would not have been comfortable if my husband had come along. I was not made aware that the outlets were hidden away and that there was a refrigerator & safe in the room. I thought my sheets would be changed when the room was cleaned but they were not. The fluffy bathroom rug was replaced with a shabby, worn one which I found very disappointing.

Always a great stay BUT this stay had a big hiccup in the dining room, unfortunately.

The dining room had some issues this time that caused a great deal of angst. Leaving one evening the bartender coming running after me accusing me of not paying my bill. Seated at a booth but waited on by bar staff, a waitress put the chit on the table. I paid via my room and left it on the table. Needless to say it was embarrassing and totally uncalled for. 20 plus years of dining and/or dining/staying at the Inn this incident was a first but left a lasting negative impression.

The property was well maintained, clean, stately, and beautiful. It was everything a jaded family from New York could hope for in a southern location. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we loved seeing all of the photographs of alumni and faculty that lined the walls. The sense of history in the building was palpable.

Can't think of anything that I didn't like, honestly. Even the cookies at the front desk, which can sometimes be a little stale, were delicious.

I asked several times for a decaf coffee pod and creamers and did not recieve them. Had to wipe out the coffee pot before use becasue it was dirty. VERY disappointed they cancelled the music on the porch because of forecast....I live in the south and the forecast ALWAYS calls for thundershowers in the late afternoon. Never came close to a storm that day.

Nothing. It was perfect. Staff was gracious & friendly, furniture was lovely, & we enjoyed reading the history of the Hotel & UNC on the walls. We would go down a different hall each day to learn more fascinating facts! A heritage to be proud of! We even enjoyed the rockers in front— very relaxing. Convenient location amid campus & stores/restaurants.

Georgian architecture; traditional interior design from Otto Zenke and his successor in Richmond; historic plaques lining walls reminding one of excellent academic and athletic traditions at UNC_CH; enthusiastic and diverse staff; fine dining; quiet workout room with fun playlist; clean and warm room

I took my daughter to look at UNC, and we lucked out by staying at this wonderful hotel. It is a very luxurious experience. The food was excellent in the in-house restaurant. It improved out UNC experience for sure. I would book early if she ends up at UNC. Thank you all involved. Keep up the good work. Staff there should be very proud of this attraction.

George and another young valet (tall with dark hair) made it so easy for us to get to the baseball park every day. Aaron, our driver, was always ready and willing too. The front staff, housekeeping and especially Tye in the restaurant, made the Carolina the World of Yes! Everyone always happy to help. Really enjoyed the Friday on the Porch!
