Hampton Inn Alexandria/Old Town

One thing that I really loved about the hotel, was its location. The location of the hotel is directly along King Street which has majority of the restaurants and venue that you can visit when we travel. We were right next to the metro station, so we were able to take the trolley up and down King Street to visit restaurants or to go to the waterfront. The breakfast was okay it was your standard couple of hot meal options and of course cereal and coffee. The room size was okay, but for a suite I was expecting a little bit more room, but overall it was your standard size room. The bed was comfortable, and the room did look clean, and I could definitely tell the room was non-smoking

If you're someone that wants to enjoy laying down and watching TV in the room, I highly recommend bringing a fire stick with you. Their TV channels are terrible. I was very disappointed that as update as a hotel was, is there a TV did not have any stream services or it didn't have any movie channels. Some hotels will stay, give you all the channels as part of the room deal however, this hotel did not. So if enjoy watching TV from time to time we are just in the room highly recommend a fire stick or a Roku stick. That is probably my biggest and only complaint about this hotel.

Comfortable, secure hotel with refrigerator and microwave in the room. Free hot coffee all day in the lobby, and a great location in Old Town, Alexandria near the Metro. Loved the extra towels and coffee-maker in the room. They also provided free bottles of water, which was great.

The elevator was very slow, old and creaky. There was a tub/shower combination and the tub was so small and rounded it was hard to stand and shower, felt very cramped. The bed was comfortable but seemed a bit old and creaky as well. It was nice having the free breakfast, but many of the egg dishes felt warmed-over. The ice-makers were out of order on every floor except the lobby, but there were no signs to tell us this until I had tried several floors.

The room is big and contains everything a business traveler may need (even ironing tools). Furthermore, the staff is extremely friendly, and the hotel has other advantages such as the complementary breakfast or the gym room.

The only thing that bothered me is the plastic utensils, cups, and plates used for the breakfast. Not everything is recyclable, which contributes to a bunch of waste while they could just as easily provide real cutlery. I feel this hotel can do a bit more for the environment.

Overall, it was clean, staff was exceptional (especially Betty at the front desk-always smiling), location was excellent, breakfast was ok and any request was quickly taken care of. we also felt extremely safe walking all over, even at night. The trolley (free!) picks up and drops off right outside the door. I wish the Metro weren’t under construction but it’s so close to the hotel and Metro ran buses to Reagan so it was still easy.

Not a deal breaker by any means, but our bathroom definitely needs to be upgraded. The toilet was really low so request an accessible room if that’s an issue. The tub was chipped and bubbling up on the bottom. It also held water afterwards that doesn’t drain. However, it was very clean and as I said, not a deal breaker.

Great location. Trolley stop right outside the hotel doors. Subway station about 5 minutes walk and Whole Foods few blocks away. Friendly, helpful staff and clean rooms.

We didn’t find our bed and pillows very comfortable. We have queen at home so we are used to smaller bed but their beds felt smaller then queen. Would have liked to see some vegan options for breakfast, such as non dairy milk and non dairy cream cheese.

Very good location on King Street. Walk to Alexandria waterfront (about 1 mile) or use free trolley. Easy walk past shops, bars, restaurants. 2 block walk to Washington metro into DC. Public parking garage 5 minute walk with good rates. Hotel is clean, comfortable. Hot breakfast buffet is adequate. Good size room, comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Good value for our needs.

Everything met all expectations. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent location. Short walk to the Metro. We were able to walk to the water. Old Town was beautiful! All kinds of restaurants near by. Bed was comfortable.

The lobby/hallways were HOT! Granted, it was very hot outside, but it almost felt like the air wasn't working properly (however, the room was fine)!

Everything went well with my stay; particular shout out to Jane at the front desk who checked me in upon arrival and was super friendly and helpful throughout my stay! (All your staff were great, but she was a particular bright spot!)

We liked the main hall. Our room was quite clean and renewed. Staff was friendly. American breakfast was good. Comfy beds.

Park was not included. The air conditioner was noisy and it was difficult to find to proper temperature. Tv is old.

Location, staff (very helpful), room was clean for the most part. The toilet did not look as clean inside which was a negative experience. Breakfast was great: hot and cold items available.

Parking and the fee. The cost to stay is fair WITHOUT the inclusion of an additional $20 per day for parking. I imagine all hotels in the Alexandria area probably charge just as much if not more. Seems to be taking advantage of customer. Parking deck is small but manageable for the most part. Larger vehicles take additional time to navigate but is possible and IF space is available.
