HighRoad Washington DC

The amenities were great-the kitchen was well equipped for us to cook our meals. The beds were very comfortable and our room was quirky but well appointed (the fairy lights were beautiful!) The staff were very helpful and I loved the fact the desk was always manned. There was complimentary tea/coffee/ herbal tea always available and plenty of fridges to store our supermarket supplies. There was a wall full of brochures and helpful advice on which buses-public transport to catch. the hallways on each floor had plenty of irons, ironing boards, fresh towels, extra loo rolls etc. Very well thought out. Adams Morgan is a fantastic neighbourhood with lots to see and experience. Thanks High Road for a fabulous stay!

Nothing. We wondered if the noise from the busy street would be an issue but it wasn't. The other guests were respectful and quiet too.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the kitchen and all the other shared rooms were very clean at all times! The dorms were spacious and bright and there were so much lovely details all around. They make you feel really comfortable. Also free tea and coffee is great and the free washing mashine. Overall you can tell that they put their heart into the place, it's not just any other hostel where you feel like being crammed into a tiny room just to have more guests and more profit. The area is also great, supermarket and a lot of restaurants nearby. Felt safe at all times as a solo female traveler. Can recommend 100%!

It would be great if the kitchen had a food processor or an oven, but apart from that the kitchen was really great!

I absolutely loved the location of the hotel. In the heart of Adams Morgan, with lots of things to do and explore. I loved the feel of the hotel. Has an upscale youth hostel vibe with individual rooms and amenities. Rooms are clean, AC works great, Internet is great, design is cute. Probably my favourite stay in the US so far.

I thought the price was slightly steep for a hostel/hotel vibe but I would still stay there again. Another thing I believe they need is more of the luggage lockers so you can leave your bag there for a day or even 2 if you are travelling and don't need the bulky suitcase on the second floor without an elevator.

The people at the desk were SUPER friendly at all times. As soon as my friends and I walked in the lobby, the told us about the free toiletries and hot coffee in the morning. We stayed for only one night so at the next morning, we woke up early and left our luggage in the free lockers and I would like to thank one of the receptionists for allowing to a couple of my friends to take a shower before heading to the airport. We thought that was not going to be possible but I'm glad it was.

We had our room in the last floor, which meant that we had to get our luggage through all the narrow staircases, which was painful haha but I understand that i is because it is an old house. So probably it is uncomfortable to bring heavy and big luggage.

High Road's location couldn't be better. It's located right on a street with a great variety of interesting and quality places to eat and drink at different price points (breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night), with easy access to local buses that are very simple and easy to use (even if you have a ton of luggage and are public transportation challenged like I am). The whole place is clearly well maintained, cute, and clean. The bed was so comfortable and the room had everything we needed. Great water temperature and pressure in the shower. I love the inclusion of free toiletries and towels, with a self-help table in case you need something extra. The coffee in the morning is delicious, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

I didn't see anyone hanging around in the common areas while I was there, so this probably isn't the best hostel for meeting new friends. That's usually what I'm looking for as I often travel alone, but was staying in a private room with a friend this time so there may have been opportunities I wasn't aware of. I do see that they offer a free happy hour if you go on a Thursday.

The staff at High Road were so pleasant and sweet. We had a very early flight, in which they offered to start the coffee pot in the kitchen earlier than usual so that we'd have some. The atmosphere was very laid back, our room was very clean and the beds were superrrr comfy. After a long day of walking around DC and sight seeing, coming back to this hotel was clean, comfortable, and located in the middle of just about all of the food and shops around. Would definitely recommend and we will be coming back.

The only issue we had with our stay was the shower that took about 5-10 minutes to really get hot, other than that our stay was great!

really nice spot. employees were nice and helpful. multiple bathrooms on all floors, so there’s always one available. beds were comfortable, i liked the led strip, it made the light softer at night. 2 outlets per bed, and a shelf where you can place your stuff. lockers at reception and in the room were very spacious. neighborhood is very nice, lovely places to eat. i felt very comfortable and safe walking there alone as a female. also easily accessible with the bus.

the drains of the shower and washing table were not great, if i brushed my teeth i’d have to wait quite some time before the water drained. also the things that hold the curtain on the stick were ripped, which led to it always being open for a small part. a lot of light came in

I really liked location / price / cleanliness & comfort combo High Road is a fantastic place to stay for a student or a traveller, who is looking for a place to spend a peaceful night, take a shower, have a cup of coffee and go explore Washington DC. Staff is super friendly, helpful, really great energy! This place has many many bonuses, such as iron, free toiletries, ear plugs, sleep masks etc. ... cheap flip-flops, umbrellas .. basically, anything that you might need .. Great full kitchen! .. you can even do laundry .. there is a new washing machine and a dryer. This place is perfect whether you need to stay for a weekend or a month!

Very lovely hostel! Staff was sweet and helpful, place was very clean (which I could see AND smell!), coffee and tea 24/7, complimentary toiletries, easy to find extra towels and toilet paper, and guests can use fridge, kitchen, and laundry machines! Definitely exceeded my expectations. Location was great, about 15 min walking from Dupont circle, and close to bus lines that take you directly to the cool stuff in DC. The neighborhood was lovely and the room key came with excellent recommendations, including an amazing gluten-free spot a block from the hostel! Apparently there's happy hours on Thursday evenings for those looking for socialization.

Might not be the most accessible for folks in wheelchairs/other mobility needs. Occasional noises at night.

High Point is just feet from ADAMS MORGAN , which is a street that has restaurants, bars, diners, bakeries, salons, anything and everything you want. It is also a place to encounter great people. I have children ranging in ages 31 to 22 years old . The evenings is perfect for them and myself, very respectful. Mornings High Point is located on a beautiful street with trees , which is great for a walk. You can also walk and get breakfast at " The Diner " Banana Bread French Toast " to die for" delicious, with friendly, fast service. The atmosphere was very friendly and comfortable. When you enter, staff greets you with a smile. Their is a refrigerator anrd coffee brewing near a communial area with lots of sun, couch, table, chairs, printer, even checkers/ chess board. Visitors were reading books, working on their laptops, enjoying the sunshine. The Visitors were very friendly.

The room is small. It is a hostel. The bed was against the wall, so my fiancée had to crawl over me. However, he got excited...and we had fun!
