This was an exceptionally lovely stay. The rooms were cosy and warm (we stayed in July when it was rather cold), bathrooms were a little chilly but there were overhead heaters you could turn on. The kitchen facilities were plentiful, well labelled and sparkling clean. Lounge area was very comfortable with board games provided and the outdoor area is covered in fairy lights and a beautiful space to relax in the evening. The beautiful couple that run this place were so welcoming and kind. I wish them every success!
Absolutely nothing, will be back again ❤️

Easily one of the best hostels I've stayed in. There's an attention to detail that just makes everything really comfortable. We were in the private rooms upstairs. Good size with a little table and chairs by the window. The best kitchen I've had with multiple stoves and everything you need to cook and eat. Well stocked with appliances, pots and pans, cutlery, etc. Great old building with common areas for eating and hanging out. Well decorated and laid out. Really nice outdoor area off the street. Great location a short walk from the main street, bus stops, and rail station. Large and clean shared bathroom with good showers. It's just a nice place to be
The bathroom is cold on cold days but honestly this is just an Australian thing for some reason. If I had to be nitpicky I'd say the bed was just ok.

Excellent location, and the house itself is charming. A nice environment inside for a backpacker, as everyone else there is doing the same thing. Train station is only a 5-10 minute walk away. The bag drop-off/storage in the town is excellent and allows you to explore the town if you arrive before check-in - a game changer compared with other hostels. The fireplace is a nice place to be around when it's cold! Can't comment too much about the staff as didn't really interact with them - there was no need to.
Nitpicking really but a limited amount of crockery/cutlery means some waiting around for others can be expected before you can cook/eat if there are other people in the kitchen. No bread/butter for toast - this would be nice, although in fairness it isn't suggested that this is included anywhere. Bed not incredibly comfortable and a little noisy/unstable when someone else gets into the top bunk, but more than good enough for the price. None of this is really a problem and didn't detract from my experience.

My stay at 14 Lovel Street was amazing. I spent almost a week here and it's the most perfect place to really disconnect, unwind and relax. After a day's exploring and hiking in the Blue Mountains, it was wonderful to come back to the hostel for a much needed shower and then to chill out and chat to other travelers before planning the next day's adventures. The hostel is gorgeous inside- stunning murals and art adorn the walls and there are many books to read, cosy throws and blankets to keep you warm on slightly chillier evenings and comfortable communal areas to relax in. The kitchen was excellent- very well equipped and with an excellent system in place for keeping one's food separate from everyone else's. My room was lovely- the bed was very comfortable and I slept exceedingly well every night! I really appreciated the drawers in my bedroom ( very convenient for clothes and toiletries) and all the hooks to hang towels, etc on. The hostel has a very relaxing, cheerful and welcoming air to it and it can truly be a home away from home where you meet wonderfully, interesting fellow travelers from all walks of life. As an added bonus, there is a fabulous covered wrap around verandah where you can chill out and some lovely outdoor tables and chairs at which to enjoy an alfresco meal, especially on a balmy late summer's evening. From here, the Blue Mountains is your oyster to explore, offering breathtaking scenery in the form of the Blue Mountains National Park (lookouts, waterfalls and ample hiking opportunities abound) or you can hop on the train and go and explore the nearby towns, walk around and have a coffee and something to eat at one of the many, many cafés, pubs or restaurants. Great coffee, delicious food and an amazing variety of different ethnic food choices are all on offer.

I felt right at home the moment I stepped into the living room with the fireplace and a long dining table. It was such as nice little house with sufficient heating and cozy lighting that I needed when I got back from a long day of hiking The book collection was amazing and I had a great time just reading the guides for Katoomba at night. The kitchen was big and people can make all sorts of meals there and chat with each other. Everyone staying at the hotel was friendly and we could share tips for travelling around the area. The view from my room (please choose the room in the upper level if you can) is absolutely surreal and gorgeous during sunrise.
The bathroom wasn't heated properly and I felt cold when I was brushing my teeth or getting ready for shower. But this can be solved if you make sure to wear a jacket when you head to the loo.

Where to even start! It was the most wonderful hostel we stayed in for years. The hostel is perfectly located and close to the trainstation. The whole artwork and cozyness of this place are incredible. The room was so wonderful we would have loved to just move in😉It’s a hostel with so much heart and the kitchen and living room are perfect places to meet new people and have a chat. The kitchen is so well equiped and has just everything you need and even more. The living room with the fireplace and the big table are perfect to relax after a day hiking and chat with others. It’s really one of this hostels where you feel at home away from home.Annette the owner is an incredible person and we had lovely talks with her and she can answer all your questions. She really gives this hostel all the heart and charm. It was just incredible and we are so happy that we found this gem!We didn’t want to leave at all.Thank you so much for everything Annette!

Clean and cozy place with a great kitchen and bathrooms. Our room was spacious and the beds were super comfortable. The lady who runs it is extremely welcoming and relaxed, and the notice board is really informative about walks available around the area. Overall a great location and a great atmosphere where you can feel safe staying at!
Might've been something we could fix but the central heating (which I think took the temperature of the lobby area) would heat up the whole house until the lobby area was at the set temperature and as our room was upstairs in the attic area of the old heritage house we'd get a lot of the heat. Even with window open and standing fan full bore we got quite hot. Again may have been our fault.

There was abit of lack of communication with the owner as my booking details didn't come through on time I proceeded to take a room as I wasn't aware of which room was mine the owner I proceeded to change rooms and upon talking with the lady she then threatened to kick me out I was very apologetic about the miscommunication and luckily the husband has common sense and could see I didn't want any trouble after that I went to bed left the hostel in a fashionable manner . facilities was great very clean hostel value for money and beds was very clean I rate the hostel giving it a 9/10 .
Just the lack of communication from the woman

My stay at No 14 Lovel St was perfect after a day of hiking in the Blue Mountains. The facility was clean, cosy, and quiet. It was a very peaceful environment, and was in a calm neighbourhood slightly outside the main centre of Katoomba. The bathroom was spotless and my shower was lovely and hot! I didn’t really use the kitchen but it looked clean, well equipped and organised. The communication was great and it was simple to get in to the building and find my key. It was a brilliant stay, with like minded people.

This must be my best hostel experience yet. Very nice and tidy place, super cute and cozy interior and absolutely clean. The rooms were amazingly clean and tidy. It’s perfect for someone who is looking for a quiet place, as there are rules for quietness and people honor them. It’s very close to the train station and shops. Katoomba is a very nice town. The organization of our stay was good, received a message with all instructions. Never met the owner or anyone from reception.
