It was only. short drive from The Spirit of Tasmania Ferry. The reception was open, friendly and waiting to greet not only us but other travellers from the ferry in spite of the late hour. There was parking available behind and to the side of the hotel which was appreciated. The room was a good side and very clean.

From the carpark at the back of the hotel there were about 10 steps to get up in order to access the hotel. while this wouldn’t normally be a problem my travelling companion had a particularly heavy case with her that it two of us to manipulate up to the door. This wasn’t so much a problem of the hotel but rather with our packing.

The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable, with a good set of amenities provided to us. The bathroom was also good and comes with a bathtub and a shower. The beds were comfortable as well.

With this trip, we paid extra to include the breakfast along with the room. However the breakfast was very disappointing. When we arrived to the breakfast area, most of the main items in the buffet were finished, and nothing was refilled. We ended up waiting and asking the waitress about it, to which she said, It's on the way. There was only one chef and it seemed like her was struggling to make each dish ready in a timely manner. The food was also quite disappointing and it seemed like it was just made in a rush.

The receptionist and staff on duty are very warm, friendly and helpful. Since we had a long time to spend in Devonport before embarking on our ferry to Geelong, the receptionist advised us to drive to La Trobe. It's a most charming small town with the best gift shop in the world, named the Reliquery. You must not miss this lil town and gift shop. Besides, the hotel's location is so near to the Spirit of Tasmania pier. We had no problems taking our car into the ferry to Geelong. Thank you so much Gateway staff and management

the sink was dirty, and the system is weird. they send me a message to pay upfront and check in early. when I arrived, they wouldn’t give me the key to the rooms as they need me to go back to get credit card out to charge $1 for security, and they wouldn’t do it by phone paypass. I must go back to my car and get my wallet out, and use the actual credit card for that $1. WHAT’S THE POINT TO SEND ME A MESSAGE CHECK IN EARLY THEN, AND PAY UPFRONT. by the time I arrived, I still need to go through to the all the payment process for $1. WHAT A PAIN!! SERIOUSLY!!!

This is our usual accommodation option when we travel to Devonport. It is very well priced and comfortable. Each room has it's own temperature control. The bar and food options are reasonable as well. The bed is on the softer side. However, since it's two beds pushed together, there is no issue with sharing and bed sagging. We have no hesitation recommending Gateway.

Usually we pay a little extra to stay in a room on the higher levels. This time we stayed in the cheapest room option. The room was still comfortable and well appointed, but there was an external door on the basement level that was extremely loud when it closed.

Good location, lovely staff, clean

not once when we were at breakfast was anything replenished, not hot meals let alone drinks. I assume this is the hotel's normal practice, at least it seemed so. only one person was working, apparently no one in the kitchen. Probably the breakfast is just for show, so you can say we have breakfast. otherwise it was a nice hotel and friendly staff

I booked two rooms, one for double bed and one for twin beds. The hotel was able to arrange this for us. Beds were cozy, Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Location is very central to Devonport CBD and close to everything. Parking lots were enough and the hotel location is near redline bus stop, too.

On the check-out date, the housekeeper knocked on our door three times and opened the door strait away at 8:30, 9:xx and 9:50 while the check-out time was scheduled for 10:00! Luckily I wasn't naked or something. When checking-in, there were two ladies on the counter who both saw us but no one greeted us. We had to draw their attention to assist us.

The bed was sooo comfy. The restaurant was convenient and good value. The room had everything we needed.

Small things: The toilet paper holder was broken .roll kept slipping off. Some warn carpet and some plaster dust was around power outlets. The drain cover in the shower was blocking the door. The electronic controls were a little confusing. Not always responsive.

The location was good, the room was quite sizeable, and the bath etc., was great… the decor was pretty good, although the electrics need a bit more work if I’m honest - I love all technology, when it works…

I’m not sure much could be better - the check in was smooth and quick, when we did have an issue it was sorted out promptly and well. Sometimes things out of your control happen, but recovery is what’s important, and in this case it was great.

we stayed in the deluxe rooms with spa bath and river view - lovely, comfortable room. Hotel was easy to get to from the ferry and hotel staff were lovely. room was very clean and room service breakfast was timely and tasty

parking is limited so we would not have wanted to be any later. a few steps from the carpark to the back entrance and lift which was slightly difficult for seniors but not impossible or a deal breaker - could always go around to the front if steps weren't manageable
