Pete and James were both helpful and friendly. The hostel is in a lovely old building, close to the museum and planetarium (must sees), and a 15 minute walk to town. Beds were comfy and there were enough outlets. Kitchen busy but well equipped. Bathrooms clean but need a bit of maintenance.

Cleaning let this hostel down. Cleaner concentrates on kitchen and bathrooms and toilets. Bedrooms don't seem to get attention. Our room smelt great, air freshener which we discovered on our last night was masking the smell of a dead rat in an old boot under the bed which had obviously not been cleaned or swept for weeks. The cleaner also didn't seem to like people daring to brush their teeth at 9am. Check-out at 10am means the cleaner should keep out of guests way before this time. Don't let the cleaning put you off, this is a good hostel, and the staff do their best to give you an enjoyable stay.

My stay was great. This grand old building has exactly everything all good backpackers need. Different spaces to hang out. An amazing verandah to watch the ( working) world go by, outside areas, a kitchen full of different languages and strangers who become friends. My bed was clean and comfortable but WARNING absolutely everything needs cleaning. So yeah, as almost all reviews mention ITS VERY DIRTY. But somehow it survives on its charm! Worth a visit. Your bed will be fine, just don't lick anything. Great staff.

Well crazy dusty dirty. But worth it if you can get over that. Who cares if you're meeting good people?

Big rooms, easy parking outside and very close to city centre. Great value for money. We were able to lock our bedroom. Appreciated having a key for the locked female only bathroom/shower. Heater was going nice and hot before we arrived so our room was nice and warm. Very considerate thanks, considering the rooms have high ceilings it could have been cold but it definitely wasn’t. Check in and out was very easy. Good communication via imsg with manager.

Matress wasn’t the best, but for paying $25 per night it was to be expected. Clean however.

Well equipped kitchen with fridge, toaster, microwave, stoves, cutlery and pots & pans. Good value for money, I extended my stay for a few extra days. Hot showers with good water pressure. Paper towels provided in the bathrooms. Decent communal dining area. About a 20 minute walk into town.

Interesting choice of signage, quite aggressive but fits the overall vibe of the hostel! Floor has probably never been vacuumed.

The hostel was quiet. I was the only person in my room for the whole stay there. The permanent residents are super friendly and we watched movies together in the loungeroom and cooked and had communal lunches. location; its near the river so you have a beautiful view from the window/balcony on the top level which you can go upto btw. There is a pub, servo, boost juice, and coffee van like 2 minutes walk away. There are also usually neuron/lime scooters parked out the front so that makes it quicker to get into town.

The couches were kind of gross because they are old which is understandable. Also the bathroom floor is mouldy because water leaks from the shower door. And the heaters aren't the most efficient.

The Arthouse is a grand old house that may have seen better days, but is a great value for money. The staff was very helpful when it came to my specific needs and the residents I met were very friendly. Besides, the hostel is just around the corner from Launceston’s Queen Victoria Museum and the Tramway Museum and ten minutes walk from the city centre. There is an affordable city shuttle service from and to the airport and one can book a pick-up from the Arthouse. So all in all very satisfactory for this price range.

Good location for getting into the city, parking outside and who we belive was the owner was very friendly and welcoming. Good for an overnight stop over

Few ware and tare marks and could do with a few renovations. Mattresses were a little springy but okay for short term

The building is exceptionally beautiful, with spacious interiors. The surrounding environment is stunning. The front desk responds promptly and the check-in process is very convenient.

The street in front of the entrance can be noisy during the day due to the traffic. The kitchen facilities require better maintenance.

The staff was lovely. I loved my attic room with lots of space and fresh air. Heaps of storage space and the beds were OK. Linen was clean . The building is old and does need some TLC.

Kitchen a bit feral.
