Great location in city centre, great staff, clean kitchen and bathroom, well stocked kitchen and plenty of plugs in the seating area

The lockers are small so you can only fit a cabin size bag in it and plugs in the room are very limited

Good staff, very suitable location in terms of Southern Cross station, reasonable prices

The common space may not be enough for all guests. Also, electric sockets are not suitably located in a room.

Excellent location and very clean room,nice kitchen with everything you may want and more,bathrooms were very clean and water pressure was excellent,loved the balcony area so relaxing and beautifully decorated .supermarket is close by so you can just walk and enjoyed shopping Value for money and fun

Key cards are pain,as if you checking out at 10am and decide to have a shower at 9, you might get locked out of your room and have to go to reception on your towel I extended another night as I needed to rest and the staff told me I have to checkout at 10am and check back in at 2pm???? As they had to move me to another room and I didn’t have anywhere to stay till 2pm had to cancel my stay which was a shame

I just love this YHA so much! Incredible customer service(they will recommend tours upon their own experience with passion, you can tell they are the expert of travelling, and you know you can trust them, I love it so much); Nice bathroom and kitchen(clean, and big enough to do basically anything); Great location(by walking:5mins to southern cross station, 10mins to flinders street, and you are definitely able to walk around the main attractions in city from this YHA); Last but not least, I've met so many nice people in my dorm, I love them. Highly recommend!

If anything, some doors always closed with a loud bang, maybe that should be fixed.

The common areas were great, staff was super friendly and really helped when I needed to change rooms. The bathrooms were clean! Stayed in another hostel in Melbourne, and YHA has better vibes - this hostel is super fun, people are friendly and is located in a convenient spot. Would recommend!

Not the most comfortable rooms, really flimsy bunk beds (someone moves, and the whole bunk bed moves) and no outlets near the bed. Not enough bathrooms for the whole floor, only 2 toilets and 2 showers.

⭐️ So..I firstly booked a short stay, then extended as I was impressed with the quality of YHA Melbourne as an accommodation option within Melbourne CBD. ⭐️The staff are well organised and obviously trained well to deliver the level of assistance and professionalism that i experienced. The girls make a fantastic coffee at the breakfast bar by the way! ⭐️The security is up to date and modern and at no point did I have a problem using my key for access. ⭐️ The cleaning team seem to be always cleaning. ⭐️ The spacious kitchen is very clean and in my experience, it’s not a rush if people trying to prepare food all at once 👍 ⭐️ Nationality diversity and age diversity were a bonus to experience. A great contribution to Melbourne’s accomodation and tourism sector.

The pillows

Great location in the CBD with easy access to trams and trains. Bathrooms were the best hostel bathrooms I’ve experienced and the breakfast (12$ per person) was incredible for the price! All rooms/ bathrooms were kept extremely clean and were extremely comfortable for a multi-night stay.

The only issue is there is very minimal locker space so bags have to be left on the floor, and the lockers which are provided are under the beds, meaning you cannot retrieve your belongings without waking the person on the lower bunk.

I loved the shared games room and the space that it had in the kitchen. That it was very protected also so if you’re not staying there there wasn’t a chance of getting in. The staff was just lovely and explained everything to me. The rooftop shared area was very very large and even had under cover area which I really enjoyed. I could keep going but it was just really great

The only thing and it was only the fault of other guests, that people didn’t fully/properly clean there dishes so you had to look through the plates and things for a clean one

The staff was probably the best part of the hostel!

I thought it was too expensive for 1 ensuite room (private room with private toilet) at $187 / night. I sprained my ankle and couldn’t get up an upper bunk in my initial 4 bed bunk room, so the staff was kind to help me check and there was an ensuite available. However I paid through my nose for that room. Because of my circumstance and it was hard for me to move around, I bit the bullet and stayed 3 nights but for that price, I’m pretty sure I can get a hotel room or a full apartment Airbnb. The ensuite room was basic and dated. I will be okay paying that price if the room was at least revamped.

Everything was excellent, location ideal for any travellers using public transportation! Tram stops at the door to take u to all sports facilities & well basically everywhere across Melbourne. 24/7 Awesome Staff @Reception, Immaculate throughout entire property & I grew up running in these very hallways as a kid when it was open as Markilles Hotel & My dad actually repainted it throughout the entire bar/ Ground level as well as all the levels above which were then too similar boarding/Guest house Accom as well as the Publicans residence , of course I recall the stairs that were at the very back of the ground / bar floor area & I recall the bar that if you look at the floor in the reception area you can still see the marks that give it the shape like, thus staying here brang back fond childhood memories & sense of pride bout my dad painting such a piece of precious Melbourne History, mind u im positive dad spent many a night there in his Painter& Doc Days Albeit at that time he was resident at another Boarding/Hostel thats part of melbs history also " " "Gordon House" which wasn't far from there, sadly the Polly Woodside that was docked beside it still exists today & is still a popular tourist attraction unlike Gordon House that was demolished to make way for what is now the Southbank Precinct!

Nothing, everything was fantastic! Loved it & being 47 from the country and stayed alone in a shared 4 bed dorm room one be expecting me to be not appropriate for such a place, won't stay elsewhere now, it's too good & so cheap!
