We got the balcony suite with city view and 100% recommend that exact room/layout. My kids loved it, the view was breathtaking, and the A/C worked well. Kids liked having Netflix and the staff was very nice. Bathroom was nice and I could have stayed on the balcony all day.

There was a wedding our first night that went to 2AM, I would NOT have come until the next night if I knew. They even set fireworks off out of our window at midnight, scared my kids half to death. The hotel is a major tourist stop on the fernicular which I did not know or expect. Also wish there was room service and/or more food options. But overall we loved it and will definitely go back.

The hotel was beautiful, location and view were fantastic. The staff were very pleasant and ready to help with any question. The rooms were comfortable and clean. I would stay here again were I to return to Heidelberg with a vehicle.

We used public transportation to arrive at the hotel, and were disappointed that access to public transportation was not available after late afternoon/early evening. In order to get to town or back, we needed to either walk or take a taxi. We opted to walk and each way took more than an hour. Would recommend only booking here if you have a vehicle.

A very beautiful hotel, tastefully furnished, with great views over the city. Our bedroom was large and comfortable, with lovely furniture, a big writing table, plus an extra smaller table, thus plenty of room to drop your larger and smaller bags. The fridge was full of drinks, which makes for a great treat, as many hotels do not stock drinks in the fridge anymore. There was a kettle for free coffee and tea. A large cupboard for your clothes (instead of racks as some other hotels have nowadays). A lovely bathroom with a beautiful wash basin with lots of space around for your tolietres and a great big walk-in shower, with beautiful stone tiling on the walls and floor. The shower worked perfectly, with easy switch from cold to warm water. We didn't have time to have breakfast, but we had dinner at the Stube which was delicious, with a good selection of draft beers.

Lovely view looking down the mountain at Heidelberg. The hotel has been freshly renovated and is very nicely furnished. The bar had a nice interior and great patio view. The bartender we helpful, informative and very skilled at making delicious cocktails. The food in the restaurant was tasty and the service was very good. Lots of parking in the garage. Riding the railway down the hillside into town was easy and fun. The driver was very kind, friendly and informative.

It was a bit of drive up the mountain with lots of narrow switchbacks (Worth the drive once we were there). The rooms we big enough but a little small by US standards. Breakfast was a little pricey, but offered an extensive selection of breads, cheeses, meats and choices.

The view was incredible from the balcony. Really good nights sleep. Good undercover parking if needed at reasonable cost. Only spent one night and didn't use restaurant but it looked good and was popular especially with non staying visitors to the top of the hill. Shower is powerful in a semi wet room type bathroom.

Nothing to do with the hotel, but the location is a magnet for visitors coming up on the funicular. It means quite a bit of noise from everybody outside your hotel window if you want it open.

The staff was phenomenal! They gave great advice about attractions and transport. I was even able to get some free breakfast coffee at one point! That was awesome! The room was EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN! It got super cold at night, so it was nice having heat option in the room. Bathroom and shower was great.

The breakfast price was extremely high. The king bed mattress was two twin mattresses and you could feel the space in-between and the height difference, which made it impossible to sleep well. Not all rooms had balconies, but at least they had windows that could be opened.

A fabulous location on top of the mountain above Heidelberg. Rooms extremely well appointed, clean, modern. All staff were extremely helpful, courteous and eager to help - level of customer service was great across the range. An impressive feat in an idyllic location, at a great price.

It can get touristy during the day (because of the great views and funicular) but that's the price to pay for being in such a fantastic place. Very quiet at night, in the middle of the forest, so perfect sleep.

Splendid, cosy hotel on the hilltop with a breathtaking view of Heidelberg. Wonderful rooms, fully equipped, nice balconies. Very nice breakfast buffet. I had missed the fact that breakfast starts only at 8 AM on Saturdays: showing up at 7AM, I was however given bread, cheese and cold meat.

The main point is accessibility: you need a car! The bus rides once every hour, takes you to the train station (not to the old town), and runs until 7.30 PM. The nice historic cable-car to the old city runs only from 9 AM to 8 PM. I walked down the trail from the hotel to the castle: steep, strenuous, at times slippery. Be prepared to hire a taxi to come up after 8 PM (about 20 euros from the old city, 25 euros from the train station).

I was lucky to book last minute and get a double bed and a room with a gorgeous view. There are so many trails of various sizes and lengths you can choose a nice wide dirt/gravel travel, medium, or narrow dirt tracks. I recommend taking the funicular https://www.bergbahn-heidelberg.de/en/Timetable/Timetable-funicular-railways-summer/Timetable-funicular-railways-summer_103482.html. If your adventurous you can walk all the way up, following the gps the “footpath” to the hotel is just past the castle funicular stop, it starts with a very narrow set of stone steps up through the woods, that eventually opens up because the other side by the hotel is much wider. The alternate walking route is straight up next to the funicular, according to a staff member it is about a 40min climb. According to the signs, it is a 40% grade, honestly it looks steeper. I arrived 2 hours before check-in to store my luggage which is an option but my room was already ready so they checked me in. According to a staff member they get snow starting around February. I will definitely be coming back with my husband this time!

The info paper in my room showed the restaurant closing at 2200, but when I arrived just after 2100 they had signs posted that they were closing at 2100. Just make sure to che l the signs, you have to pass them anyways to get to the front door! The WIFI is pretty weak and service is spotty so make sure you don’t need to make any follow on reservations or travel plan (just in case!). Otherwise this is a good thing, it’s a beautiful place to unplug.

Beautiful location, hotel was lovely. Breakfast was delicious, many choices over and above the normal breakfast fare. Room and bed were very comfortable. Beautiful view, took the Tram from the hotel to the Heidelberg Castle and then on to Old Town Heidelberg.

Disappointed that I did not get a room with a balcony and a city view. Which is what I booked. They did change our room to have a balcony but it was looking over the walk way and parking area.
