Location is great, and not far from the city centre if you want to visit there. Plenty of free parking on site. Quicker to get to ring road from hotel than city centre too. The gentleman working the evenings in the restaurant was one of the most friendliest staff I have ever encountered in any hotel. Loves his job, and went out of his way to make sure the hotel guests have all that they need. Love the decor and it was nice to relax in the restaurant/lounge area after a long day on the road.

No receptionist when wanting to check out early morning (4:30-5am). Had to make a phone call and was told I should have checked out the night before if I was leaving early morning

We stayed at this hotel for two nights at the end of our Iceland trip. We liked the location and the environment. It is 20 minutes from downtown Reykjavik and 40 minutes from the international airport. We stayed at the bigger room (11) with a balcony facing the lake. The room was very clean and spacious for 3 of us. The hotel breakfast room has a great view of the lake and breakfast had many choices.

We felt a little too hot at night and couldn’t open the door or window. Iceland doesn’t have air conditioning. We hope the window or door had screens so we can open them and the bugs wouldn’t get in. It’s a very minor issue

Everything! The pictures don't begin to do the place justice. The room we stayed in was huge and the view was incredible! We saw the northern lights on 2 separate nights here during our 5 night stay. It probably would have been 3, but in the night when the forecast was strong, we were so exhausted we just fell asleep! We got engaged on the terrace underneath the Northern lights and it was so magical ✨️ We actually booked the hotel at a time when the hotel was supposed to be closed, however, they allowed us to complete our stay anyway and we had the hotel to ourselves. They provided breakfast and the man who served and made breakfast for us went above and beyond to make us feel incredibly special. We can't thank him enough for helping to make this trip the most special and incredible holiday of our lives. He was from Hungary and unfortunately, I don't know how to spell his name. But I wanted to make special mention of how incredible he was. The room and bathroom were beautiful and the rest of the hotel is truly stunning. If you are planning on visiting Iceland, this is the place to be!

We liked everything, they were amazing.

Great location. Beautiful view on the lake. Very friendly staff. Nice hot tub. Two things we did not like. 1. Bedclothes- like cuddling with a sheep. So we took the blanket on top to cover us. 2. Worst pizza ever. We ordered pizza for dinner and it was really bad quality food, super cheap ingredients. Cold mushrooms were placed on top. Prize was 3700 ISK / 25 €. A rip off. But the cost is secondary, the owner should be ashamed to sell that rubbish to the customers. Feel sorry for the staff who had to serve it.

Lovely hotel next to a serene lake. Excellent facilities, spacious room and bathroom. The ambient was very calm and staff welcoming. Great breakfast (my fav were the freshly baked bread and smoothie) where you overlook the lake. We stayed here on our first night in Iceland - would recommend if you’re planning on the Golden Circle route and want to settle into the calm ahead of the trip.

Nothing really - one minor thing was the black out curtains for the lake view windows were in three parts so there would be a sliver of light coming in so having a clamp of some sort to hold the curtains would be nice. But nothing major and we still slept very well!

The hotel is nicely situated on the edge of a lake around 5 miles (15 minute drive) from centre of Reykjavik. The hotel is cosy, has good facilities and friendly, helpful staff. Parking is easy. The room (superior) is very modern and nicely finished with sliding doors out onto landscaping and the lake. There are also older rooms and you should check which you are booking. Breakfast was plentiful and adequately varied. We had the evening meal twice and whilst choice is limited, this was good and reasonably priced (for Iceland!) Whilst the Northern Lights were unfortunately not able to be seen during our stay due to cloud cover, if visible, reception will wake you if you request.

Nothing much although really you do need a hire car if staying at this hotel.

STAFF We met Mikhail at reception and he was great! He not only shared with us lots of helpful information about Iceland, including how to get to a nearby restaurant where we had excellent pizza, but he also chatted with us at the small hotel bar. Great guy. SCENERY The contemporary style hotel has a great view of the adjacent lake. The surrounding town is very charming and clean.

VALUE While I did book the non-refundable reservation, locking in a rate of $250 USD per night (not sure why I did that), I’d say my single night at the hotel wasn’t a $250 experience. This is also partially due to the fact we were unable to enjoy breakfast in the morning because we had to hit the road early. NO A/C Not sure if A/C is uncommon in Icelandic hotels, but our room seemed to not have one. The room was a bit warm , so we left the sliding glass door cracked, which helped keep things cool.

Huge room Tremendous view Interesting decoration It is an upscale hotel away from city centre. It's quiet, the rooms are spacious and imaginatively decorated, but expect to drive if you want to stay here. We were very lucky to get a corner room with a bath, where we had two windowed walls to the lake.

Like most upscale hotels I stayed in, you notice that the gloss is just the surface. When you interact with it, you start noticing lack of attention and deferred maintenance. Lights flickering, tap in the bath wobbly, door in sauna not closing and so on.

The hotel is at a beautiful small lake, unfortunately you cant walk around it as there is a lot of private property. We did not eat breakfast there, tried out the restaurant but it was less good than I expected in that price range. Driving to Reykjavik took approx. 20 minutes but we knew when we booked it.

The hotel has been renovated some time in the past. The decor was a mixture from older stuff and newer stuff this gave the hotel a unclear look.

We liked the layout of the room - it was nice having 3 single beds in the first room and the double bed in a separate area. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant the first night we arrived. A pretty view of the lake from the restaurant and our room.

It was very warm in the room when we arrived but we weren't able to open the windows the first night we got there because there were so many bugs outside. The next 2 nights were better because we could open the windows.
