Beautiful surroundings,spacious room, comfortable beds.shower is amazing.efficient check in and check out.consiere staff were so helpful and friendly as we're room service staff.

Standard is not 5 star. Stayed at better 4 star hotels. Breakfast is buffet and was cold.. 5 star hotel should offer fresh cooked breakfast to order. .At 9pm asked room service for 4 sandwiches,3 were delivered half toasted (did not ask for toasted).we were told they had no tuna hence 3 sandwiches delivered instead of 4. No butter on bread and a handful of wilted salad leaves on the plate .To be fair we were not charged for this. Handed desert menus in the grill bar which were crumpled and sticky with food. Beautiful flower arrangements in the foyer but water needed to be changed as it was smelly. Yew restaurant was closed during our stay. Guests should be told of this at time of booking. Small complaints but if addressed would elevate to 5 star

The Yew Restaurant was very disappointing, service very very slow atmosphere dead, couldn't get certain items off the menu, waiting for drinks every time and this was just the staff forgetting about us because there was very few people in the restaurant, just seem very unorganised which isn't like this hotel, and bearing in mind it was very quite in the Yew Restaurant, It was so unorganised and slow we actually asked to be moved up to the grill which they said couldn't be done, and then the table of three girls next to us asked the same question after us and where moved, for such a great hotel unfortunately the Yew Restaurant at the moment is pulling the hotel down,

The estate is a magnificent setting and our room looked out into woods and the grounds. Lovely walks, wildlife and a great spa experience made out stay even better than we expected. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Nothing we asked for was a bother to them. The room was spacious and everywhere was very clean. The swimming pool is as charming as the pictures. The breakfast was impressive with a full gf Irish breakfast if you wanted it. We had such a relaxing time and would love to return.

The lunch and dinner is unexceptional and overpriced. We booked the Grill & Bar for dinner and were disappointed. We are not into €50+ for steak and the rest of the menu was uninspired. If we come back, we will eat elsewhere. The cocktails were nice.

Rooms we excellent with some great views of the countryside. The Lyrath is and feels spacious, the grounds and setting is beautiful. This a great location for a getaway but Kilkenny town is close enough if you fell like a night out or a change of scenery. We'll be back.

The food in the Bar & Grill was good but over priced for what it was. The staff were always friendly but many were inexperienced. We got forgotten about on a couple of occasions having ordered a course, or a coffee etc.

The hotel was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Our room was lovely. The decor and fitout all over hotel is lovely. Grounds are lovely. Lovely view from our room.

Breakfast was disappointing - toast machine wasn't working, pastries not fresh, just a bit meh in general considering the price of a nights stay - €320. Would expect this standard of breakfast in hotel that was 150 - 180 a night.

The room was very comfortable with a lovely bathroom. The swallows were incredible to watch out the window. We loved the facilities, especially the estate grounds. Walking the 5km perimeter trails was beautiful.

The service and food both in Tupper's bar, and at breakfast, was not 5 star. There seemed to be zero communication amongst staff in both areas. In Tupper's, we were left waiting for our order for a long time, both days we ate there, and drinks never came while other guests received their drinks and food ahead of us even though we had ordered well before others had arrived. The food was not good, unfortunately. We ordered food from the breakfast area only to receive incorrect orders and doubling of food orders as though multiple staff received our orders. The only issues we had with the Lyrath was the food and service but this isn't great when the idea was to stay in the Lyrath without the need to leave.

Staff all very well trained and attentive. Quality of food in general was very good in bar and Grill. Despite a poor main course (cauliflower steak, was served as overcharred florets, but this was rectified immedietaly). Other dishes were very tasty. Received a lovely upgrade on arrival to room 40. which was a nice gesture.

Yew restaurant is not fine dining. Restaurant has no atmosphere and food there is average. Spa took our booking for massages, 4.45-5.45 but failed to mention the spa closes at 18.00 so we had to leave immediately. Surely spa relaxation should be open for at least an hour after treatment in order to fully enjoy the experience, We have two full body massages. Room 40 has no AC and no black out option for the room, The shutters dont close fully. It also backs onto a housekeeping office which is very busy at 9am and staff congregate outside chatting.

Everything was perfect. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Food was delicious and the massages were amazing. Couldn’t fault anything

We weren’t able to have our picnic by the lake due to the weather and it couldn’t be facilitated as we were only staying one night and more notice was needed. When booking online I was never asked to chose a time for the picnic, if there was I would have pre booked like I did for the spa. We did manage to get afternoon tea instead but it wasn’t suitable to our tastes. However staff facilitated us as best they could.

Breakfast was great, lots of choice. Dinner in the grill was lovely, though busy and we waited a while to put in an order. Dinner in the Yew was nice, although I thought the desserts could have been more imaginative in terms of everything seemed to be some kind of mousse 😂 Spa was beautiful and staff were great, even though they came to get me early for my treatment which left me a bit flustered. The masseuse didn't ask me whether pressure was alright so I had to ask. On site activities and walks were excellent. The guy running the archery lessons was brilliant.
