Room was lovely for a single person. Safe and quiet. Kettle and tea/coffee. Box of tissues - a small thing but indicative of offering comfort. Air con worked well. Breakfast pleasant, overlooking courtyard. Owner friendly. Offered to store suitcase in day.

My arrival was fraught. Taxi driver wouldn’t go down the road. There is no big sign so I missed the entrance at first. There is a big brass sign on the wall beside the door. There was no response to ringing the bell or knocking the door. There had been no specific communication about arrival procedure and I had assumed there would be a reception/someone there. I phoned and it was answered straight away, they were expecting me and then it was easy to get to the room.

Our host was wonderful, made our check-in very easy and helped get us a taxi at check-out. The location was perfect, easy walking to all the sites of central Firenza. The breakfast was ample and delicious. Our room was the perfect size for us, options for opening the window or having air conditioning. The street is closed to vehicles between 9 a.m. and well after midnight - so there is foot traffic only.

We like sleeping with the windows open, but with foot traffic, it got a little noisy. So we opted to run the air conditioner and kept the windows closed which muted the sounds from below and we were able to sleep fully.

This was our second time staying here. We first came in 2020 just as the Covid lockdown hit and all the galleries closed. We enjoyed our stay last time so wanted to stay here again. The proprietor is a very kind and friendly man. The room we had exceeded the one we had last time as it had a kitchenette area. The bed is comfortable and the breakfast is very good. It is a small breakfast buffet but with some nice attention to detail. There was a coffee machine with a cocoa dispenser on the side so you can sprinkle cocoa on your cappuccino. There were pasties, various yoghurts, fruit, seeds, prunes and cooked eggs. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of the Uffizzi gallery. Lots of restaurants close by too.

I cannot fault it. I would stay here again.

* The owner was very helpful - even waited for us downstairs and helped with suitcases. Amazing location full of restaurants, bars, shops (but the room was very quiet inside). Another employee assisted us with taxi (went outside to find the taxi we couldn't find) * Nice breakfast for the price.

* WiFi was slow and sometimes unstable. Eventually I gave up on using my laptop and used only the phone while in the hotel. * Lack of privacy - our room's door opened directly to the small reception room (not all rooms are like that) * Shower door missing so lots of water on the floor by end of shower

The room and the bathroom were very clean. The bed was comfortable. Hot water available at all times.. The personnel was polite, helpful, and easy to chat. The location is right next to the city centre, with all the important monuments and museums a few minutes walk away.

The air-condition, although fully functional, it was rather noisy. Being there during a heatwave, it was necessary to use it for the early hours at night. The closet was too small, I didn't bother using it.

Great location with an easy walk to the Duomo, Bargello, Uffizi, etc. The room was spacious and comfortable as was the bed (in my experience, a rarity in Italy). Breakfast was a nice variety of meats/cheeses, baked goods, cereal, bread for toast, yogurt, 3 types of juice and a coffee machine that made cappuccino, espresso, etc. The rooms in the B&B are spread between the 1st and 2nd floors (2nd and 3rd if you're coming from the US). There is an elevator but there's 1 or 2 steps up into the front door of the building and then 3 or 4 steps up to the elevator. Luciano let us leave our bags after checkout so we were able to explore the city before heading to the train station later in the day. And a bonus was that there is sparkling and still water in a fridge in the common areas on both floors where you can buy small bottles of water for 50 cents (which is what you'd pay in the grocery store, if you grab water at the bar, it will cost 1 euro). Plus an espresso machine again, 50 cents per. There's a little box to put your change. I would happily return to this place and highly recommend it if you're visiting Firenze!

The breakfast was great! Even though we had trouble contacting the location upon check in, we figured it out and had a great stay! Clean and comfortable (though I would have loved an extra pillow). There are really affordable waters and coffees for on the go, which is a nice/helpful touch. When we did interact with the staff, they were very friendly and helpful! The room we stayed in also had a huge window that was incredible for getting the feeling of living in Firenze!

The host thought of EVERYTHING. From bathroom slippers, to earplugs, to assistance for taxis, to a great spread for breakfast - seemed like Locanda Orchidea is run by someone who knows how to take care of people.

This may be a difference of cultures but more generosity with water bottles maybe? Where I come from, 2 bottles of water a day are definitely free in most establishments. Hydrated customers are happier customers!

When I walked in the room and saw a pair of earplugs had been left out for me on the side table, I was a little worried the room would be a noisy nightmare, but the room was wonderfully atmospheric, the building totally quiet despite being so central and I immediately realised those earplugs were just a sign that the owner cares about his guests Breakfast fantastic too, nice selection of teas in the room, would more than happily stay again

The best place I have stayed in Florence. Located in the beautiful historical building, wonderfully renovated, so you get the best of both worlds. It is in the middle of the historic centre on a lively street with lots of great places to eat nearby. The room was very spacious for a single room, clean and well looked after, a great place to come back to after a day out in the city. The breakfast was delicious, with a good variety (I liked that the breakfast room was overlooking the courtyard too). There is a lovely common area with a fridge and a coffee machine for the guests. The host was most friendly and helpful. Because of the central location, there was expected noise from the street, but there were complimentary earplugs in the room which was a nice touch. Overall, amazing value for money. Cannot recommend enough! Will definitely stay again.
