Great location in Hakone village. Parking is about 130m away at lakefront, but that's right next to the pirate ferry dock. We opted for Japanese style room for the experience. Host spoke good English and was very knowledgeable of nearby attractions. Scrambled eggs woth sausages or ham + toast and diakon(?) Salad for breakfast included. Also went for chicken hotpot on 2nd night - very nice.
Booked via Booking.com? Thought I was booking the room rather than the number of guests (my search criteria was price for 2), but had to pay extra for 2nd person on arrival. Not sure if that was my error or poorly communicated in Booking.com.

Good change from regular hotels. The strict protocols could be a bit off-putting to some western tourists at first, but it was great to experience genuine personal Japanese hospitality. We ordered the hotpot in advance. A most enjoyable meal. Cooked individually at the table, with the host explaining the different ingredients. Good location for the Hakone loop. As advised by the host, taking the first boat out (just across the road) at 9:30 am headed off the crowds. A very personal experience with the host seeing us off across the road.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Jemsty Inn Hakone Ashinoko, and our experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the host welcomed us with warmth and genuine hospitality. Throughout our stay, he went out of his way to ensure we felt at home, providing valuable insights about the local area and offering assistance. The traditional Japanese rooms were a highlight of our stay, featuring tatami flooring and comfortable futons. The aesthetic appeal of the rooms added to the overall charm, offering a truly authentic experience. We would highly recommend this inn to anyone seeking a genuine and comfortable Japanese accommodation experience in the heart of Hakone.

Super helpful communication from MaC San before we arrived and all during our 3 night stay. We hadn't stayed in a small Japanese style room with floor beds before, but we managed ok storing some of our luggage downstairs and just taking what we needed up to the room. Breakfast was simple and adequate at a set time for all guests. MaC and his wife made us an amazing bowl meal for our first night, which was super tasty. Real bonus was the super location right by the H bus to Odawara and the Pirate ship across the lake - both 1-2 mins away. Everything shuts super early (by our measures) with the convenience store next door closing about 5pm and restaurants about the same. You can take a 15-minute walk and get 7-11 store and a super Chinese, which is open till 9.30. Overall, it was a memorable stay at Lake Ashi at the perfect lodging with the perfect host! Would definitely recommend and certainly go back.
So long as you're prepared for small adjustments to basic Japanese style room, all is fine. He does have some bigger rooms with beds, though, which we hadn't asked for or known about. Probably would choose that on return.

The location of the property is great. It is just opposite bus terminal and sight seeing cruise port. It was nice to walk around lake ashi in the morning when it is quiet and not yet crowded. Mt. Fuji is also visible from the lake. The owner is super friendly and helpful. He helped out with our luggage sending from Hakone to our Tokyo hotel by helping us to fill out the Yamato form as well as checking with our Tokyo Hotel for the receiving of the luggage. It allowed us to travel to kawaguchiko by public transport without carrying big luggage. Besides that, baggage storage is also allowed before checking in.

This place is like a B&B. The room is dated but it is spacious, clean and tidy. Its location is literally opposite the bus and ferry terminals. The host, Mac, was friendly, helpful and speaks very good English. Love the complimentary breakfast 8 am. We also had the chicken hotpot - it was a yummy, warm hearty meal.
If I want to be fussy, the toilet seat is not heated. After staying in 2 prior new modern hotels with seat warmer, we got to re-adjust to the usual morning cold toilet seat (LOL).

All good. The owner and his wife were very accommodating. His breakfast in the morning was perfect and he helped us with our travel as we had a lot of luggage and was trying to figure out the best way to make our way while visiting sites in Hakone with our luggage. Very close to the pirate ship and other places in the small quaint little town. It was a great stay for one or 2 nights. Water pressure and AC were EXCELLENT!
Nothing. Perhaps a larger room but that would require remodeling or additional building. Japan has very small rooms anyway so you just get used to it while traveling in Japan.

The owner Mack made us feel very welcome and assisted us with all our queries. He is a well travelled and interesting man and we had lots of chats. Our breakfasts were excellent and every night Mack cooked us a wonderful meal. His place is across the road from the ferry and bus terminal so very easy to get around. First day we saw Mt Fuji outside our bedroom window. After that the mountains were too cloudy. A very beautiful part of the world.
Changing shoes.. one lot for upstairs and another for the dining room. This started to be a joke with Mack as his premises are so clean.

What an amazing little place! If you can find a better home cooked Chicken Hotpot, I'll be shocked! Everything was authentic, warm, and kind. There is a Western and Japanese option for your loving space! (Try the Japanese style and they will walk you though it) It was close to everything you needed, unfortunately, Fuji wasn't to be seen due to the weather but from the photos, this is where you want to be when it does! I will be back in Hakone in years to come, this is where I'll be staying. The second photo is outside and across the road about a 2min journey.

The cleanliness of the accommodation was commendable, creating a pleasant environment. One of the highlights was the option to choose between Japanese and Western-style rooms, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the local culture. Opting for the Japanese-style room provided a unique and memorable experience. The breakfast offered was simple but satisfying, with egg and toast to start the day. The host was exceptionally friendly and provided valuable recommendations for local activities. If luck is on your side, you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji from rooms A or B. The accommodation is conveniently accessible by public bus, making transportation hassle-free.
One of the drawbacks of this accommodation was its less-than-optimal location. In the evenings, most of the nearby restaurants were closed, limiting dining options. However, the accommodation does offer a hotpot dinner for 5000 yen for two people (hotpot-like dinner). Another downside was that the bathroom facilities felt somewhat outdated, lacking modern amenities. Considering the relatively simple accommodations provided, the price seemed relatively high, which could be attributed to the desirable Hakone location. Otherwise, one might expect more value for the price. Furthermore, check-in was only available from 3:00 PM, leaving guests waiting, even though it felt like the rooms were ready beforehand (since the checkout time was early at 10:00 AM).
