Good sized room. Clean. Towels provided. From check-in, the entire staff was super friendly and helpful. Despite their limited English skills, they make an effort to communicate. The dinner was really good. You can try and taste a variety of dishes. They serve Japanese breakfast, which may take some getting used to for Western stomachs, but it's worth experiencing (I felt great afterward). There are two alternating onsen areas for men and women. I was mostly alone there (which is also good because space is limited). They provide a kimono that you can wear throughout the hotel. Location: a bit secluded. Accessible by a local bus (line J; from Odawara Station, Platform E5). Cable car within walking distance. But honestly, you'll probably just stay in the hotel to enjoy the Onsen. Good value for money.

Only minor issues. The onsen areas seem a bit outdated in some places. Only one room key, which can be inconvenient for gender-separated baths. Our arrival was at 2 pm. The first sentence we heard was, "Check-in is at 3 pm." It didn't come across as very welcoming, especially since it seemed like the rooms were already prepared (check-out is at 10 am!). So, we had to go back out in the rain (we could leave our luggage there).

Incredibly friendly and attentive staff. Spacious room and great amenities, including indoor and partially outdoor natural onsen baths (with access hours rotating for men and women throughout the day). Town area with shops, restaurants and bars is a steep 20-25 min walk downhill or a 10 min funicular journey. Amazing Japanese dinner and breakfast was provided with very large portions.

Dinner and breakfast serving hours were set at 18:00/18:30 and 08:00/08:30 which was a little earlier than preferred but the quality of food and sake selection made up for it. No fault of the accommodation but please note that the Hakone cable car is out of service as of April 2023 and access to the lake is available by bus only.

I love the traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner provided. A lot of care and thought is put into it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The view from the dining area is really nice as it looks into the forest area, giving you a really calming and tranquil feel. They would prepare your shoes in the morning for you to have the convenience when stepping out of the accomodation. There is also onsen within the accomodation and it is kept clean. The water feels natural, coming from the spring. It is nice to have easy access to onsen in the cold mountainous place.

The bed and pillows can be more comfortable.

The place is very private, staffs are very hospitable, the room is large and clean. And finally the food quality and service is excellent. Definitely a place to relax and get away.

Not a place to bring a large luggage, Ramp is too steep from the parking, place has no lift and just has stairs. The place is also quite old.

Big, nice room. Amazing dinner and breakfast, we stayed two nights and none of the four meals repeated in content. Can tell the design was tailored for customers. Amazing service. Small but cozy onsen. They drove us to Gora station upon check out. Overall great value for money

Despite geographically quite close to Sounzan station, the walk is not easy if you have luggage. Also saw a snake on the way. The accommodation offered free transportation at certain times of the day. No elevator but most rooms on ground floor. Can be slightly hard for those with walking difficulty to get to the restaurant upstairs. Internet reception not the best. Despite the above would still highly recommend to most people wanting to visit Hakone.

The food was amazing. The rooms were big and comfortable. Nice Onsen and nice staff. 7 min walk from the ropetrain station.

There were some ants in our room. We were in a mountain place so it is understandable but there were maybe too many 😂

Dinner and breakfast included. Shuttle from Gora station available from hotel. Indoor onsen with spring water. View from room good as can see mountains. Spacious space for luggage.

Some distance from attractions. No lift so need to carry heavy luggage up the stairs

The hotel is a bit further from Gora if you wish to go by yourself. But the hotel manager fetched us from Gora station by her car. She was very nice and friendly. The overall experience was great.

Incredible staff and exceptional service from everyone. We put in the wrong address so got lost on the way to the property but the lovely owner came out of her way to come and get us! We were served delicious, traditional breakfast and dinner, and as there are only 10 rooms, it is very peaceful and private. We had the onsens to ourselves each time we went. This accomodation had very large rooms and comfortable bedding. Very easy to access from Kami-Gora station. If you’re going to Hakone, you must stay here.

We love the dinner and breakfast the most, serve in Japanese style. The traditional onsen is good too, although it would be perfect to have a private bath. However, we enjoyed the public onsen as well. Love the small size hotel, as you can just rest without being with the crowds.

The pretty secluded and the property is might need a little of refurbishment. However, there is nothing spoil in the property. All is good except one of the onsen is under maintenance.
