The staff were so very kind and helpful. Location is great, but a tip for anyone using the directions on google maps: it is better to go past the stop recommended by maps and on to the next stop, Motohakone-ko port. You do have to backtrack a little but it is much more pleasant as you can walk through the town (and past a large Lawson if you want some snacks). The earlier stop is a bit treacherous, with no footpaths.

I stayed in the superior room (room with private bathroom) which was spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable! The highlight of staying in this room was waking up and sipping a coffee on the balcony in the morning. The staff were very helpful. They noticed that I had heavy luggage so one of them offered to help me carry my larger piece of luggage up the stairs to my room which I really appreciated. Things to do nearby: The property is a short walk from Hakone Shrine so it makes it easy for guests to get to this famous tourist spot early and beat the crowds. The main activities that you can do in the immediate area are go to the shrine or go on a sightseeing cruise. I also believe that you can take a bus from the bus station/cruise ticketing area to the Komagatake Ropeway. It was overcast the day I was in Hakone so I opted to go to an onsen and so I took a bus to Tenzan onsen which is very tourist friendly and is tolerant of people with tattoos.
Nothing to note. I really enjoyed my stay here!

It's a beautiful place in a very nice location with somewhat easy access to tourist locations in the Hakone area. (TIP: get the Hakone free pass and then follow the tourist information about how to sightsee around the area. Do not use Google maps!!) The lounge was a nice place to relax in the evening and chat with other visitors. The breakfast was also very nice. The bathrooms were very clean. The capsule met my expectations. The staff were able to provide many helpful recommendations about how to spend my time in Hakone. They also let me leave my suitcase in the locker before check-in and after check-out.
The capsule got a bit hot and stuffy -- there was a vent in there but it didn't fully counteract this.

Breakfast was great, it was confy and warm with yogurt, bread, and some protein such as chicken and egg. It also comes with your choice of drink. Room was also good, at first it may seem a bit compact and dim but I got used to it after spending couple hours in it, bed was confortable. Showering space is clean, with plenty of utilities available. It is also at a great location, within less than 10 minutes walking distance to the lake shore of ashinoko, haokone jinja, convenient stores such as Lawson and 7-11, and some good japanese/western style restaurants.
There was a HUGE spider on the wall of one of the restroom, which was kind of scary when I first saw it. I then always use the other restroom. You don't get your towels changed everyday, so I'd suggest keep your towel after showering the first day if you plan to stay here for more than one night (or ask them they might change it for you).

Amazing stay!!! The location is amazing, right on Lake Ashi - a short walk to the iconic tori gate and Hakone shrine as well as a beautiful view of Mount Fuji! It's also right next to a bus station and the sightseeing ship. I liked the deluxe room as we got our own bathroom, wifi and it was a larger room. It was super comfy and clean. Also right next to a Lawson and plenty of lunch and dinner options around.
Google maps says to get off at an earlier bus stop which means walking on a scary road for a while! I would recommend getting off at the Motohakone bus stop next to the Lawson instead.

I loved the location being walkable from the ferry station and bus station. They have an in-house restaurant and cook up delicious food. The lounge area was perfect. It rained one entire day, so having books and a cosy place to sit and read helped pass time. The staff are warm and friendly. The capsule was comfortable, and the double bed size was more than enough for one person.
The luggage room is on the first floor, which can be annoying. But I suggest packing up a few things you'll need for the stay in a smaller bag that you can keep in your big capsuale. A few hooks in the capsule would be nice.

The ambience for the living room is cozy especially the firepit. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even though the conversational in English are limited. The food (breakfast and dinner) is felt like home cook. Toilets amenity are fully equip (hair dryer, free shampoo body wash, even they have samples for hair and skin care). Walkable to the hakone shirne and tori gate, if you wake up very early in the morning, you can enjoy lake ashi with local fishermen. Overall, will rebook the place because the location is very strategic if you're planning to go to hakone tori gate with no que.

Clean, comfortable, friendly hotel/hostel. Breakfast was excellent - lots of variety & quantity. Beds were comfortable. It was great having the option to eat dinner at the hotel as not all the local restaurants are open for dinner. Photos on the listing are accurate. So easy to catch the ferry from this location plus see the shrine, the old road & outpost from the 1680 era. A supermarket is across the road.
The one small included coffee & the fact you had to pay for a second dulled the otherwise excellent breakfast. No seats provided in the rooms, only beanbags. I have arthritic knees & had to sit on the coffee table.

Room i had was on the 1st floor and yes it is cozy but clean and ok. And if you're on the 1st floor, there is a toilet up there. Hotel is well located, near the start of Tokaido old road (just 100 metres past Eneos gas station). And 10 minutes from Hakone shrine. I walked from Hakone Jinja Iriguchi bus stop, up the hill, passing Lawsons - took 5 minutes. Good food at reasonable prices, served til 8pm i think. Free water, tea and coffee. Towel, soaps etc provided.
Common area - soft jazz and lòoks nice but actually not designed well as a social space nor even comfortable. Check in at 1600, check out at 1000, ask to pay upfront, as soon as you walk in the door.

A cosy and relaxed public area with a nice open fire and a well stocked bar with a complimentary drink offered for each night's stay. The owners / staff were cheerful and the bed in the superior room was very comfortable. The two dinners I had were good value and very tasty.
Breakfast could have been larger in both choice and drinks refills but was adequate. A set meal delivered on a tray rather than a buffet style found in the other hotels I stayed in. It was disappointing to find that you can have a free coffee or juice with breakfast but not both and have to pay for the other. Fun though it may be the chalkboard wall on the way upstairs deposited annoyingly large amounts of coloured chalk all over your clothes if you failed to pay attention to the possibility of accidentally becoming a blackboard duster when struggling upstairs with luggage.
