The location and ryokan itself were incredible. We stayed in the Luxury Suite with Open Air bath and it was stunningly beautiful. All staff were lovely and very helpful and the dinner and breakfasts were delicious. It was such a treat having two separate private onsens (one in the bathroom and one on the deck). The onsen on the deck has a spectacular view across a valley. This was a special treat for our 10-year wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint!
There were a few spots where a bit more maintenance could be done: the couch in the room was worn through and there was a spot on the side balcony that was caving it. It was signed and we didn't go near it, but it would be better if it were fixed.

I had an unforgettable experience at this ryokan, and I can't say enough good things about it. First, the property itself is stunning. The traditional Japanese architecture and serene garden create a peaceful atmosphere that immediately transports you to a different world. The room I stayed in was spacious and beautifully appointed, with traditional tatami mats and a comfortable futon. The sliding doors opened up to a private terrace overlooking a breathtaking view. Now, let's talk about the Japanese dinner served in the room. It was an absolute feast for the senses. The presentation was a work of art, and every dish was bursting with flavors I had never experienced before. Dining in the comfort and privacy of my own room made it even more special. And then there's the private onsen on the terrace. Soaking in the hot spring water was a magical experience: It was incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating. But what truly made this stay exceptional was the wonderful staff, particularly the young lady named Aoi (I hope that her name is correct). Her sweetness and professionalism went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. She was attentive to every detail and made me feel like a valued guest. Overall, this ryokan exceeded all my expectations. It's a place where tradition and luxury meet, creating an unforgettable Japanese experience.

We recently had the pleasure of spending two nights at Hakone Tokinoshizuku, staying in their top floor suite. Our stay was a delightful mix of luxury, exceptional service, and breathtaking scenery, though there were a few areas that could use some attention. Upon arrival, we were immediately struck by the beauty of the location. Nestled in the serene landscape of Hakone, the surroundings provided a tranquil escape from our busy lives. The view from our suite was stunning, adding to the overall sense of relaxation. One of the highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the Onsen experience. The outdoor Onsen was a dream, offering a serene and soothing soak amidst nature. The indoor Onsen was equally impressive, providing a perfect retreat from the cooler evenings. Both Onsens were meticulously clean and beautifully maintained, offering a rejuvenating experience. Dining at Hakone Tokinoshizuku was an exquisite experience. The five-course (in-room) degustation dinner was a culinary journey, with each course beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The chef’s attention to detail and the use of fresh, local ingredients were evident in every bite. We cannot praise the staff enough for their attentive service. Kai, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. His warm hospitality and keen attention to detail made us feel truly special and well-cared for.
It’s important to mention that the overall condition of the property left something to be desired. The stairwell had noticeable mould, and the balcony of our apartment had several rotten floorboards, which was concerning. Additionally, the hallway carpet was old, stained, and uneven. While these issues did not significantly detract from the quality of our stay, they are worth noting for potential guests.

Phenomenal amenities and view. Very nice mixed design of the room. Private onsen was a beautiful experience. Staff was exceptionally nice and the service was top notch. They offered a shuttle and instructions from a nearby station. Toiletries, shower, and toilet were all great. The balcony view was great to watch sunrise and sunset (my room didn't have direct sunrise, but the valley begins to light nicely)
Windy Weather makes going out tough, but with such a great room I was happy to stay. Food was authentic mountain ryokan with local ingredients. Some items will not have mass appeal, but I was appreciative to try it.

Very spacious room. The high note is the private onsen on the balcony. We have used it twice a day. The breakfast and dinner served in the room were spectacular. We had one western breakfast and the other Japanese. the staff are very nice and friendly. The location is not suitable to walk but they provide shuttle bus taking us to the nearby stations which is handy.
The room furniture is a worn and someplace the wood penal would fall off by itself. Otherwise everything is fine

The Kaiseki dinner was exceptional. 7 courses laid out beautifully in our room. Staff were very nice and friendly. We didn’t seen the rest of the hotel as we were taken straight to the room and served both dinner and breakfast there. Rooms were large and the view was excellent. We looked across the valley to the Hakone Outdoor Museum. We had a private onsen on our balcony.
The rooms and the private onsen area were a little dated and needed some maintenance/ lick of paint. Given how good dinner was, although breakfast was also nice, it wasn’t any comparison to dinner. Wifi didn’t work too well but that wasn’t an issue as we were there for a night only

Beautiful views from our private onsen and balcony, especially with the rain in the morning. Amazing indoor private onsen and shower. Great bathroom in general, plus amenities. Gourmet meals delivered to our room. Comfortable and luxurious experience. Didn’t have to leave our room once. Plus they did our laundry and gave us a shuttle to several places. The staff was top notch!!
My only complaints were the rice pillow (my boyfriend loved it, I hated it, though I realized later that there were other pillows available in the suite) and the mini bar prices (I read reviews that they were included).

This ryoken is very nice and the food is high quality. The room we stayed in was comfortable and quiet. The staff was excellent. A staff member is assigned to each room and that person brings the meals as well. The property's public/shared onsen is ok, not that beautiful. Our room had a an open-air tub, which was nice. Transportation from the Shinkazen station called Odawara is quite a long taxi ride from the station to the ryokan and costs about Yen 60,000. There is a much closer train station to the property but if you are coming by Shinkanzen, you would need to take the local train several stops (about 45-60 mins) to the station that is closer to the property and then take a taxi or call the ryokan to send a shuttle van for you.

It was quiet and had amazing views of the mountain. The food was absolutely lovely; I really enjoyed the homemade umeshu that we got on top of the included 10-course dinner. If I could just buy a bottle and take it home to the states I absolutely would!! The people who attended to me and my friend spoke English well and were very helpful in giving us ideas on where else to go and the most efficient routes for our commute. They pick you to and from the train station or one of the nearby bus stops as well, a wonderful service as finding a cab can be a pain.
There seems to be a bit of staining on the outdoor balcony ceiling. I am certain it’s likely due to the nature of the constantly moist environment but it does make me slightly nervous. That said it is incredibly minor and probably cosmetic in nature!

The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and polite. The room had many amenities including a towel warmer which was nice. And the personal onsen tub on the balcony was absolutely lovely.
Unfortunately due to the location in the hills it took awhile to get to the hotel without a car. And it would have been nice to have been given more information on the sister hotel right next door. For example, upon entering the sister hotel, we were initially told to stay on the 1st floor. Thankfully, later another staff member told us there was a lounge on the 4th floor we could enjoy which was very lovely.
