The room was exceptionally clean and tidy. Comfortable bed (which is a massive for us travelling all the time). Good blackout curtains. Facilities were as they should be. Plenty of channels on the tv and the tv being placed well in the room. Excellent water pressure and temperature with the shower. The owners are friendly and relaxed. Double glazed windows etc etc etc. Will definitely be staying here again next time we visit Ashburton.

Easy to find. Staff were able to swap an upstairs room for a downstairs room. Very clean and comfortable. Water pressure was fantastic.

The shower head was useless. It could not be adjusted. To run off cold before getting in meant that the floor got soaked. Once in, the water went out in all directions and not down to wash off soap. The fine spray became a mist. For this reason only, I would avoid this motel. The owners need to change to a flexible hose shower head.

We have come to depend on Bella Vista Motels since travelling in New Zealand, and stay at them when there is availability. The cleanliness and facility maintenance is always top notch, thus we know we can count on a clean, comfortable room for a reasonable price. Addionally, the rooms have more than the basics for amenities, which is a nice feature.

We were only there for one night and didn't find anything disagreeable.

staff were super friendly. Nothing was a problem, lady on reception was an employers dream not sure if she was the owner but a true superstar at dealing with people. The room we had was spotlessly clean with attention to detail .

Bathroom ceiling extractor was very loud . Might just need a good clean inside by removing the ceiling grill or perhaps some lubricate. Worst case need replaced. Not a big problem just routine maintance.

The room was very clean and the bed was firm and comfortable. It’s great value for money. The motel is located on the west street, about 10mins walking distance to the Millhouse Kitchen and Robert Harries cafe, about 15mins walking distance to the Domain park.

The motel is right next to the State Highway 1, which was quite noisy at night due to the X’mas heavy traffic.

Driving from Christchurch to Oamaru after coming off a long international flight is not a wise move. Breaking the journey and staying in a motel in Ashburton is a life saver. I booked a room at the Bella Vista at very short notice and was pleased with my choice. The room was comfortable and had a well appointed kitchenette. I had a great night's sleep and resumed my journey next morning.

The only tiny negative point was that the room smelt of cigarette smoke when I first went in. I put it down to there being an ashtray on the table under the verandah and near the door to the room.

Excellent accommodation, spectacularly clean. Next time if I have a few bags I will ask for a ground room floor so I don't have to take them up the stairs.

Another group of guests were rowdy and noisy from the early afternoon to the early hours of the morning which was disruptive. Not a reflection of the venue though. I would stay there again.

Location easy to access from Highway, staff helpful. Convenient to garages and supermarkets for hassleless onward travel.

According to booking information sent, I had booked a downstairs room, however the room provided at check-in was upstairs. When I booked back in August 2022 my wife was recovering from a hip replacement so I tried to book downstairs rooms. As it turned out her recovery has been fine so she coped with the stairs.

We booked the compact queen room as there weren’t many left at time of booking but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of room and it served our needs perfectly. Nice tea and coffee selection and eco friendly toiletries were a nice touch.

The shower was more of a spray, it was fine but I prefer a more pressured shower personally.

Although on the edge of the town, it suited our needs as easy to find and good access from the main road.

We ate at the Phat Duck.. very good. However, an email arrived after our stay to say we could have had 10% off. Pity the staff hadn’t said .
