We considered ourselves very fortunate to get the last booking for the weekend. Everything was warm and comfortable, but when we returned in the evening we learned there was a problem with water heating. Staff worked on until we asked to stop the noise late at night. We were next door. They were most apologetic and obliged. We understood we wouldn't have hot water the next morning. We accepted that and had a cold shower while the other had a sponge bath. When we checked out, the staff offered a refund, which was well beyond our expectation and gladly accepted. I write about this not to complain but to illustrate the efforts of the motel staff to meet customer needs. Truly appreciated. We recommend Sunset Motel. Many, many thanks. The cold shower was bearable. We chalked it up to experience

Quiet, warm, spacious unit, brilliantly lit by afternoon sun. Comfortable bed and chairs. Excellent lighting with switches conveniently placed. Free WiFi. A treat to have our dirty dishes removed daily and replaced with clean ones. (A service given because ours was a studio unit without a sink. More hygienic than having to use handbasin, as some other motels expect.) Easy access via glass sliding-door to clean paved courtyard with tables & chairs beneath large sun umbrellas. Friendly, efficient staff. Also, easy walking distance to all local amenities, including main street.

Nothing to complain about. It was perfect! We will stay again.

Location in the heart of town close to everything you need with small supermarket next door. Spa was good and used. BBQ area good even though didn't use, but would on a longer stay and especially in summer months. Will stay again

No contact with host/owner or reception. Check in all done by text instructions, very impersonal and therefore unable to gain hosts knowledge of area. TV and entertainment limited and extremely poor, even if you were able to cast to the TV would be acceptable from phone or laptop, but should have at least a few Sky sport and movie stations.

Super central and walkable to everything. The room and bathroom, although dated, was immaculately clean. Large spacious rooms with balcony. Lovely staff. Great parking close to the rooms.

Twice staff came into our room without knocking. I understand they were there to clean/service but it's a bit stressful to think someone could just walk in when showering/getting dressed with no warning. Maybe an interior lock or do not disturb sign would help. Shower drains clogged so overflowed and flooded bathroom quickly.

Easy to book, good communication in the lead up to stay. Calming decor and 99% updated. Some nice basic cooking things, i.e., toaster, chopping board, electric fry pan, plates, cutlery, can opener. Heater was handy given it was winter when we stayed. I liked the bed but my husband made a comment about being uncomfortable.Spa was enjoyed by my husband.

Delay in figuring out how to work tv. Tiles were cold in the entry and bathroom. Non-slip socks or non-slip slippers would be handy.

The location is great and is walkable to restaurants and shops. There is a guest laundry and a nice courtyard with tables. Room was clean and comfortable. There was some dishes for use in the room.

The doors to the rooms are a frosted glass with no shade. They are nice for letting light in during the day but don’t keep the room very dark at night because of the walkway lights outside. The hotel communicated with us via text and email but reception was never open while we were there and we never saw an employee. We stayed in winter and it wasn’t their busy season so this might be different at other times of the year.

Unit Tahi size very large with large bathroom that had deep bath and large shower box. Good shower pressure. King size bed fairly comfortable. Modern and tasteful decor. Kitchenette had all you need. Nice patio to have breakfast in morning sun. Parking in front of unit. Walking distance to township. Four square next door. Quiet unit. Great manager who accommodated our need for quiet. Pleasant cleaners. Apart from a noisy start on the Sunday night we would recommend staying here.

No aircon but had a fan. We were moved to this unit from an upstairs unit because of noise from a night club in town. We learned this noise is a regular occurrence every Sunday night. The first unit was equally pleasant and comfortable. Lots of parking.

Room was very spacious with a large, comfortable bed. Good quality linen & towels, a nice wet room with shower & well equipped with microwave, kettle, fridge, plates, glasses, mugs etc. We had to change our dates because of illness & the staff were very kind & accommodating & very welcoming on our arrival. Outside the room there was a large terrace with garden furniture & a hot tub, location to town is excellent.

There was an outside light shining through the glass door during the night.

Location was excellent, just one minute walk to the main shops, Four Square just next door for supplies. I booked the room with kitchenette. Being on the ground floor meant that we could just walk out to the courtyard and eat and drink out there. The room was generous, and also had a bunk bed (handy for bigger groups). The shops in Raglan are great, and the food choices excellent. Yet it was still nice to have a kitchenette to just make a quick snack at night or in the morning to go with that cup of coffee from Raglan Roast just a minute away. Having a guest laundry facility was also a bonus. I like to pack my clothes clean so I don't have to worry about doing a load of laundry just back from a relaxing holiday.

A warning from the staff that the location is right next to the volunteer fire service. Unfortunately the night we stayed the alarm sounded and caused absolute panic at about 2.30am. Note there are different alarms/sounds for different emergencies. This would probably be great info to provide people that aren't used to living in smaller towns where this is a thing. The alarm is quite a frightening thing to hear in the middle of the night in a new town with no context 😊
