Room was great,lovely view, very clean apart from sliding door to outside which needs attention , Loved the ambiance of old world charm, carpet on stairways, nice Bar and lovely dining room with views to the lake and open fire all under one roof.Dinner was good but need to order vegetables unfortunately,Sticky date pudding was superb' Buffet breakfast was very good.Drinks from bar were good and well priced. Staff were very nice but maybe a little timid?

Would like to see lights outside dining room lighting up trees and lake at night,would make it very special. ..Staff are a little timid and need to chat more with the customers? Would like to see packages of Bed,Breakfast and Dinner,targeting those who want to get away for the weekend and maybe retirees during the slow months.For example I am considering taking my family there for my birthday in September.Has great potential with the Chateaux closing.

The staff really friendly and really helpful. One time back in 2018/19, me and my partner decided to spent our holiday in rotorua and choose VR for our hotel. The staff, the facility are really nice. Even when my car broke down, the staff is really helpfull, they offer us to just park the car at the hotel until someone can pick up the car because that time no one available for tow my car. And the one who available was way more then the time I booked to stay at this hotel and I need to fly back to wellington. They are really nice. That's why I always comes back to this hotel where ever I come to rotorua.

The location, staff, food and facilities were exceptional. We also liked the ambience of the bar.

The only improvements would be significant building maintenance. Whilst the decor created great atmosphere; we were in an executive suite with a lounge dining area furnished with what would have originally been upper end furnishings, curtain fittings were broken and some timber was rotting. The bath room was big and had the best spa bath we have experienced. There appears to be an ongoing maintenance programme which will take this lodge to a high standard all round standard

Excellent location

It was my aunts 74th birthday who has been blind sibce the past 50 years,when we checked in and had requested if the hotel could arrange for a complimentary birthday surprise for her. The hotel couldn't arrange a vegan cake due to the short notice but only manages to give her a glass of apple juice only to her and not to all the other 4 guests checking in. For a highly rated hotel didn't expect the pursuit of capitalism overcome humanity.. what does it take to give 5 glasses of apple juice and make them all feel valued?

Loved that even though it was right next to the road you couldn't hear the cars going past. The surroundings and tranquillity was all exceptionally beautiful. Spa bath in our suit just being able to just be in our own room and not have to share, just relax and chill.

No mattress cover, although the mattress was plush and comfortable bedding and all was clean, when you laid I could feel the pattern in mattress. No aircon in the bedroom as the heated flooring from the bathroom overheated into the bedroom even when the door was closed.

The location was perfect, quiet and tranquil. No traffic noise as the resort is off the road towards the lake. Lots of bird life on the lake. Our room was lakeside and the view of the lake and surrounds was absolutely georgeous. The resort is older but the room was clean and comfortable, the bed was great to sleep on and the big spa bath was amazing to soak away all the stress and aches and pains. The breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day ahead. We had room service for dinner the first night we arrived and that was very nice and arrived quickly. Overall our stay was wonderful and we felt very rested. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay again.

I was looking for a room to rest my weary head and my room did not disappoint in that regard. The bathroom was amazing. Very spacious and, if required, you could still watch tv from the bath. However, this is a resort, I think set up to cater to groups, not solo travellers. However they were offering a very good price for a solo traveller.

I obviously had not read the small print thoroughly as this resort was set up for its clients to eat in their restaurant. For someone used to "roughing it', there were no plates and cutlery in order to be self-help.

What really made our experience stand out was the exceptional service, particularly from Mr. Ajay Dhaiya. Ajay was not only supportive and helpful throughout our stay but also exhibited a level of professionalism and dedication that was truly commendable. His hard work and attention to detail did not go unnoticed, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect. From the moment we arrived at VR Rotorua Lake Resort, we knew our stay would be something special. The resort's stunning location, right by the tranquil lake, set the scene for a truly relaxing getaway. The facilities were top-notch, offering everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The accommodation itself was wonderful, with clean, well-appointed rooms offering stunning views. In conclusion, our stay at VR Rotorua Lake Resort was not just memorable because of the beautiful setting and excellent facilities, but also because of the incredible staff, led by examples like Ajay. Place is fantastic. Location, views, pool n spas

It seems like they don't have proper cleaners. From the moment we walked in the front door to reception. The front door was absolutely filthy as was the front door to our room and every other room we could see. Well once we got in the room it was so bad. The shower was unbelievably filthy n all the walls in the whole room had never been wiped. The catchment on the bottom on both sides of the ranch slider were full of years old dirt and black mold and the curtains had black mould. Really unacceptable for such a nice place and couldn't bring ourselves to even think about eating in the restaurant after that. We had to yell at them to clean our room properly and even then it' was only just acceptable. Don't know how it got such a good rating for cleanliness. That's got to be a lie

Aww, we loved how the bathroom floor was heated and warm. The spa pools were beautiful, and the outdoor area was just as amazing, especially with children who like to play with the chess board and challenge each other. The playground could have been closer, but that was fun, too. The view was absolutely beautiful, especially on a beautiful sunny day.

Well, the pool was freezing cold when it should have been a warmer pool, especially with kids who like to swim. Even though the spa was there, my kids would have loved it if it was warm, it doesnt help when the pool is cold, and you can get cold easily. It would have been nice if there were a lott more staff to supervise the activity family room, we would have enjoyed it more. 2 nights have been amazing.
