It is a really nice hotel, and excellent value for money. The staff are nice and the room clean and safe.

it was a little out of town (about 20 mins) it was fine but something to consider

The property was quiet, The staff were friendly and helpful. Free breakfast was good. The room had everything we needed and was clean.

The little things that needed attention. Dinning room windows needed cleaning, we were put on a window seat which was nic but the windows were smeary. In our room the lights had usb charging plug but they did not work. The soap holder in our shower was broken. The freezer in the fridge was all iced up and no ice tray (however staff happily give me ice each day). At breakfast all 3 mornings no salt and pepper on tables.

Full cooked and continental breakfast with hot and cold drinks Spas, sauna and pool (loved that the pool felt like a cold plunge) Lake front views were stunning Good value for money Staff were helpful and approachable Couldn’t hear neighbours in the room and the resort was fully booked and we could hear them when walking down the hallway so sound proofing was good Due to time we didn’t use laundry or gym but were available Last minute booking was available - booked at about 8:15pm and checked in at about 9:15pm and was still able to use the spa, pool and sauna or have a late dinner at the restaurant or a drink at the bar. (We chose to soak in the spa, pool and sauna and relax lakeside.) So grateful to have this option as we were exhausted and needed a place to rest instead of continuing a long drive / driving fatigued. Easy to find and good signage out front

Trout flies were excessive but there was ample warning about these flies, our light to the outside needed replacing so we couldn’t lure the flies out that way The shower was a bit cramped No pool showers A bit dated but was fairly maintained

Great location with lake on doorstep.. chess game was great.. friendly staff..good price... Had a nice bath in your room which was great on a cold night.. beds were the best so comfy...

Hot tub wasn't hot.. didn't have bowls so wouldn't be good for a long stay as you would always need to eat out... Had only tiny cups so you couldn't have a decent sized tea or coffee in your room.... Shower needs renovation .. looked like mouldy rubber seals.. . Definitely needs more lighting in Bathroom and room.. as lighting is near bed.. no lights on the table or near tv.. but overall enjoyed our stay.. would go back in summer would lovely with the lake

The outdoors were nice and clean. It's big enough for my kids to run around. The scenery was also nice to take photos as well and make more memories. There was a playground, it would be nice if it was upgraded. The swimming pool could at least be warm and not cold like a freezer. The room was nice andcomfy.

We didn't like the fact that our room had some sockets that weren't working and had given us sparks. Our towel rail in our room wasn't strong that it collapsed when we put our towels on it. The pool wasn't clean and the water was cold. The floor heater wasn't working. Alot of our things in our room wasn't great. I think our last stay in the rooms closer to the reception was better.

Beds were very comfy to the point i almost slept in and had 15 minutes to get up and get ready for check out 😂 but he rooms are already nice and warm when you walk in the scenic is just beautiful

The only thing I didn’t like is The lady that was in room 208 upstairs opened her door just to yell at my 3 year old daughter and quickly shut her door before I got there to speak to her but her husband came out to talk on her behalf for her bad attitude towards my child. And this almost ruined our night at the resort but other than rude stayers this resort is the best as i always stay here with my family for a little get away

Room was great,lovely view, very clean apart from sliding door to outside which needs attention , Loved the ambiance of old world charm, carpet on stairways, nice Bar and lovely dining room with views to the lake and open fire all under one roof.Dinner was good but need to order vegetables unfortunately,Sticky date pudding was superb' Buffet breakfast was very good.Drinks from bar were good and well priced. Staff were very nice but maybe a little timid?

Would like to see lights outside dining room lighting up trees and lake at night,would make it very special. ..Staff are a little timid and need to chat more with the customers? Would like to see packages of Bed,Breakfast and Dinner,targeting those who want to get away for the weekend and maybe retirees during the slow months.For example I am considering taking my family there for my birthday in September.Has great potential with the Chateaux closing.

Beautiful hotel on the lake just outside Rotorua. The front of house receptionist, Kim, was amazing - super friendly and went the extra mile to make sure everything was good! Lakeside room was huge and stunning, with a sliding door and little table and chair outside. A total bargain at just $99. Also the sauna/hot tub was a nice touch

The plugs in my room didn't work the next morning unfortunately, and no one at reception to reset until 8. Realized after I'd left that I had been charged $10 for bread in the restaurant I didn't order

The staff really friendly and really helpful. One time back in 2018/19, me and my partner decided to spent our holiday in rotorua and choose VR for our hotel. The staff, the facility are really nice. Even when my car broke down, the staff is really helpfull, they offer us to just park the car at the hotel until someone can pick up the car because that time no one available for tow my car. And the one who available was way more then the time I booked to stay at this hotel and I need to fly back to wellington. They are really nice. That's why I always comes back to this hotel where ever I come to rotorua.

The location, staff, food and facilities were exceptional. We also liked the ambience of the bar.

The only improvements would be significant building maintenance. Whilst the decor created great atmosphere; we were in an executive suite with a lounge dining area furnished with what would have originally been upper end furnishings, curtain fittings were broken and some timber was rotting. The bath room was big and had the best spa bath we have experienced. There appears to be an ongoing maintenance programme which will take this lodge to a high standard all round standard
