Initially I wasn’t fussed HOWEVER once I settled in I came to really like it. The fact there is a kitchen provided is so good, especially as places I’ve stayed in overseas made you pay for their overpriced food they would offer if you wanted to eat in the hostel. The shower pressure was so good! The beds were comfy AND the location is amazing. It was pretty central and made walking to and from the CBD so nice and easy!

The cleanliness could use a little work however that’s probably more so down to other travellers than the staff (who were lovely and welcoming). The bunk beds weren’t numbered so you had to kind of guess which bed was yours or which ones were available. It wasn’t a massive problem though.

The presentation of the hostel was great, amazing flow, bathroom area was great and it's nice to have powerful water in the shower, kitchen was always clean as it should be. The long term residents and staff are also very welcoming and great to talk to.the bunk room I stayed in wasn't cramped and over loaded. Also great having a sports bar/restaurant on site too, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Ishmael I think his name is the dark South African man is great value too.

Bunk bed was too short but that is my problem for being tall haha. I have no complaints about this place

The location and classic style of the property. The staff were really kind and always willing to help. I loved having a sink in my single bed room. The shared bathrooms were kept very clean. Great value and enjoyed my stay.

Two issues - the hotel room doors have an auto shut mechanism and guests just let the doors slam. In the middle of the night, this can jolt you awake. Highly recommend adjusting the room doors to avoid this issue. The shared kitchen was a bit tired and could use a deep clean and updates to cookware.

Great location, friendly staff. I was in a 4 bed dorm, the ceiling were massive which was nice - it made it feel more spacious. The lounge by the kitchen was nice to hand out in. It was close to the bus stop so easy to get to and from the airport. Plus New World (supermarket) was close by

The kitchen was small - and a lot of the hobs were broken and not working. There were also a lot of camera about so you did feel as though you were being watched all the time. Not necessarily a bad thing - it's just they are there.

Single room - with bathroom. Good value. Bed and pillows were great - suited my sleep needs. Location of the hotel - is also good. Walking distance to eateries, theatre, supermarket. Bus access. Tea and coffee facilities with a fridge. TV. Toiletries in the bathroom. Bed linen crisp. A small table and chair. 2 heaters. Discount voucher for bar/kitchen services. Good security - noted cameras. Stairs and or elevator. Bag storage area. Staff upon check in and departure were great. Free wifi - which I did not use. Everything was clean.

The bathroom needs some TLC. Water damage, marks on cabinetry and the bench top was lifting. TV - pictures frequently freeze or pixelate.

It was comfortable. The room was clean. Had everything we needed for a one night stay. The dinner served was lovely.

The loos were a bit tight, it’s a good thing we were bigger. The big breakfast served was cold, the coffee bitter. I think in summer there needs to be a fly swatter spin thing on the tables when you’re eating, we spent a lot of time waving over our dinner. There was a big pile of noodles strewn over the pavement outside, not a good look for the hotel & people were having to step over it coming outside.

- the single room was nice, the bed was comfy and the sink in the bedroom is an asset - the female bathroom was always clean and despite the fact that there were only 2 showers and 2 toilets for the whole floor, I never had to wait to use them - the location is great, there is the Myrtle bakery that is delicious just on the other side of the street, a place for Mac and cheese not far and Courtenay Place just across the corner.

It can be noisy in the weekends - but they warn you about that on Booking or on Google so it is nice from them!

Liked the discount for the pub next door where i got to watch Kiwis live, as usual my gym across the road (what up Anytime), good sleep on a bunk bed, good staff & people & among them a few Springbok supporters

Wifi had an error that was later solved, the drying machine doesn't do a complete job on the 1st run so it works on the 2nd. The trip went too quick for a Labour weekend (both bus trips were full, came in late & left early) But other than that, this place is average but gets a pass from me so it is what it is

Cool historic buildings with old fashioned elevator. Fridge and sink in my room with small desk. Perfect budget stay for a solo traveller. Pretty view out the window. Staff was friendly.

You don't need your key card to access the room floors which is an issue as anyone could walk in and then go into the women's shower rooms. Either put a key card lock on the women's toilets or the entire floor. Hair was found all over over my comforter. There were no hangers to hang my coat or clothes up. The string for the heater was so high I could not reach it without a chair.

The room was clean and tidy, I didn’t even know I was getting a towel, so that was nice. Location was good, surrounded by plenty of good restaurants and cafes and museums. Bed was comfy, and the thick pillow was comfortable! People and staff were very polite and kept to themselves!

Some of the bathroom locks didn’t lock properly and in some shower rooms there weren’t hangers to hang your clothes or towel on - which would get wet from either being on the floor or hung up. A guy kept me and a couple other girls up at night because of awfully loud snoring, so as a light sleeper I would recommend getting a private room.
