Our room was reasonably spacious and we were on the top floor so we had a great view of the city and the harbour. The hotel is on the edge of the city which is a great base for sightseeing and very close to a lot of restaurants but the hotel restaurant is very good too.

Air conditioning would be an improvement but at least we could open the window. Also, we were in an adjoining room which was not soundproof and we could hear the family in the room next door. Although the bathroom was clean, it was not quite up to our standard but overall a very pleasant stay.

Bathtub (double check if you want one), BBC Earth on TV, super handy location right by Courtenay Place, the room rate, lovely staff (let me keep my bike in store room, let me check out 1 day early with full refund and mailed me my jacket that I left in a hurry in the room), can open windows to let fresh air in (ajar rather than fully, but in some hotels can't), good heater for chilly nights (a knob to rotate in the cornet I think hot water based), tempting vegan option in restaurant menu (will try next time).

Add History to Sky channels, may get a bit noisy on Saturday night at Courtenay Place bars (if single glaze windows facing that way, but an extra pillow helped and Sunday night was quiet), on top floor shower pressure could be better (bathtub and sink were fine) and I think there was a bit of low hum from the roof, a bit more soy milk and dairy free butter plus distinct vegan option at breakfast (if chef is in they can still make a hot one) could be nice.

Great location with a decent view, quick check in/out and polite staff. Breakfast buffet options were nice and light, and the hot meals were good. Nice spacious rooms with thick walls and good heating, outstanding water pressure(maybe even a bit too much). Parking is reasonable to pay and a lot cheaper than public parking.

Not much ventilation in the room, single beds were a bit small but I'm pretty large so that's understandable. A small amount of mould along the windows from condensation.

Great location - easy walk to downtown, museum, eateries & movie theater. I had a nice room with a view of the waterfront - I could watch the rain blowing sideways! There were many places to eat food of a wide variety nearby but on one of those wet & blustery days I appreciated having a restaurant in the hotel. The bathroom was large & had a nice counter which I appreciated.

The facilities are a bit dated (but clean & comfy) & the bathtub/shower was raised a little which was quite a high step over for me. I felt at risk of falling. Also Uber couldn't seem to find the front door of the hotel - the door where the taxi dropped me & the door I used to go in & out.

The location was good - very close to Courtnay Place, and walkable. Good that they had a parking bay for pick ups and drop offs. Handy to the motorway in and out of the city. Very nice views of the full moon over the harbour.

I checked in, just as a big tour group had finished chiecking in - but the tour guide stood there at reception with the group, so I had to wait. Not their fault, but perhaps more that 1 person cheking it would have helped?

The hotel is next to the harbour and walking distance to most attractions. It has parking (for an extra cost), which a lot of hotels in this city do not have. The hotel has an old charm about it. The room was clean.

The room was not spacious. We requested a room with water views and we didn't get that. We had a view of the car park and surrounding suburb. The parking was cramped and not easy to get in and out of when full.

Although dated, it was clean and comfortable, had everything we needed and was located close to where we needed to be. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. They were neatly dressed and professional.

I wasn’t unhappy about this as I believe I got what I paid for, but it is dated - reception areas etc smart, rooms were old.

Excellent service, I arrived so late with my 2yr old grand daughter and staff was so welcoming, helped me through with carrying things and with grand daughter and parking, at least for about an hour, untill we were settled, I called reception so many times, she went up and down to help me and my grand daughter patiently, with big smile, patiently, so polite and so caring, I can't express, I am Indian even was in sky city, and biggest luxurious 7star hotels around the world on business trips , but service at the Bay Plaza, words are less to express, you need to experience. It's excellent services by the evening and night staff, even two year old grand daughter felt so peaceful within few minutes of our arrival , though I was so stressed out. They took everything calm and helped us out with all our needs. Room may be small & not upto the standard for the price, but service made it all different for me, . I felt like we were rather in a best hotel, such a care staff after arriving tired, grumpy, angry, lost for hours , I actually felt so relaxed and had a good night sleep, when requested if I can stay over and they consider till time I requested without any trouble. I experienced something here ,from now on I'll be looking for the best service, than luxurious hotels, where we hope for good service but never really get it. I totally recommend it

Suggest - May be need couple of bowls to eat breakfast. And couple of children channels on TV, and may be give another care for carpet, chair resting thing was moving , fridge is way low , was hard to bend so low, may be put it up high, a light in the cubbord to find things, and that step to go into shower I almost tripped over cause of high step, may be remove it for older saying that overall it's good. Place also very central.

Although we could hear the outside storm, the room was really warm and mainly soundproofed. TV was good as well, be better mounted on the wall. Facilities were really clean, coffee making facilities were great as well. Loved the choices between coffee, tea and herbal teas. Loved how there was a supermarket opposite the hotel. The restaurant staff were excellent and brought the food out in a timely manner. I have never roasted my kale before but tasted great. Interesting combinations for the meals but seemed to work well.

The part where the carpet meets the bathroom might need to be raised just thinking of any elderly you may have in that room as there is the potential to fall and no one to help them up. Thats pretty much it.

Pricing and location was the winner on the day - Right next to Courtenay Pl, which allowed for a short walk to my room and bed after a big night out Bed was comfortable and the room was pleasant in temperature. Would definitely stay here again to keep my wallet happy and maximize my night out with a comfy bed afterwards

Not really many things to not like - It's not the fanciest or newest place around, but pricing reflected that and I found it acceptable for a short stay
