The hotel: It's a genuinely historical inn with an older-style construction that adds to the authenticity and charm. The veranda with tables is incredibly romantic and perfect for sunsets. Children will appreciate all the nooks and crannies at the hotel. Room: The rooms keep the historical style but with modern features that will make your experience a good one. Beds are comfy and warm. There are enough blinders to leave the room totally dark. Incredibly silent. The bathroom looks old but the plumbing is great, the water is warm and the pressure is just right. There's also a tv and good wifi. The highlight goes to the A/C which helps to set a good room temperature (especially during those scorching hot summer afternoons). It has everything you need but, of course, if you don't like a room with old-style furniture, then this isn't a good option. Noise: Very silent at night (weekend) Breakfast: Very simple continental with great coffee and there was a surprise option (Wine Poached Pears) on one day. Looks humble but it's perfect to kickstart the day with enough space in your belly to dine at a restaurant nearby any Alentejo-style dish. Cleanliness: Great, nothing to point out which means they are doing a good job. Location: Fantastic, right in the middle of Évora, close to everything especially the Roman temple. If your intention is sightseeing, this is a great option. There are a lot of restaurants nearby, just remember to check their open/closing hours. Getting there: 20/30 minute walking distance from the bus station. You can go there by car BUT BE AWARE there's no parking at the hotel so you'll have to park in the narrow streets which might be paid (at least during weekdays). Disabled people: People with mobility issues might experience difficulties to reach the inn due to Évora's cobblestone streets and the inn's old style with doorsteps.

Historical property in the best location in Evora. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and shared the history of the property. It is amazing being able to stay in a 16th century house. You will not find such an interesting, full of character property like this in Evora, this is it!! Charming rooms, period pieces, scattered throughout the hotel. Stunning views. Exceptionally clean. Breakfast was offered in a huge room with antique furnishings. Kudos to the staff for being so attentive and helpful in every way possible. If you are looking for the Ikea bland hotel, this is not for you. The charming atmosphere would take you back to when the Noblemen's family was the owner. A very special Hotel. Highly recommend.

The hotel is in the old building and it is very stylish: old doors, furniture, atmosphere like from the real past. But it is comfortable. Especially high pressure o water under the shower! Divine! The real fire place in the lobby makes it even better. Great staff, very helpful. Breakfast in Portuguese style: just basic, without any vegetables, but it is the same in all hotels in Portugal that I was in. The location is in the very center of old town. For me - great.

The room was really tiny, and if someone really prefers comfort than historical experiences - better find another place. No lift, so the luggage must be carry on by the stair even for the reception (but what a staircase! Like from historical movie!). And the heating was strange: only few hours, so in January, the mornings were rather cold.

The authenticity of the hotel and its team. The beautifully and well thought rehabilitation, preserving its soul and protecting what needs to be protected, but still assuring clients have all they need to feel comfortable and relaxed. A hotel for people who love History and Heritage and can enjoy silence and details. Breakfast was so good, with proper orange juice, never give up on real pressed oranges, and the diy is a very good idea, so guests can feel at home and ensure a zero waste policy. Decor filled with elements from the past, i had a great time and will surely return, for a longer stay. Thank you so much, keep up the good work!

Some smaller details need fixing, already transmitted to the owner, like a new juicer, the actual one is too noisy for such a beautiful breakfast room. Thank you for you sympathy and for being the guardians of this historic building.

The hotel is located ini a nice part of town (2 blocks from the cathedral) in a spendid historical buildling. I thought I was staying in a museum. A nice view from the patio.(Too bad it was raining, so the view was limited!) Then historiccal rooms with seemingly old furniture were good. The staff was very pleasnat and efficient as well. I would definitely stay there again.

I thought my stay was excellent. My room didn't have enought electrical outlets for my devices, and I was compelled to unplug the lights and string the extension cords around to get the power where it was needed. I think it's an easy fix.

This was my second stay this year at the hotel. I had a great experience the first time and this stay was equally as good. The location is unbelievable, it is so close to all the major sites you want to see. Not that breakfast was not excellent the first time, they added apple tarts and a new coffee machine. Unlike the cheaper Nestlé machine you see at many hotels this one had a much larger selection of coffee/tea drinks. I am coming back to Evora in the spring and am looking forward to my stay at the Solar!

Everything was excellent.

I really liked staying here, and have recommended it to others. The building is so historic and beautiful. there are many extra rooms to relax in including a fireplace room where they light a fire at night. Our room was comfortable and a nice location to visit all the interesting points of interest. We had heat at night and there is someone on duty all day and night. And breakfast in the huge dining room is wonderful-so much to choose from.

The walls are thin, so if someone is load down the hall, you will hear it. Otherwise, the place is great.

The location of this perfect place is ideal. It is just away from the main streets but close to all the sites. I was not expecting such an historic villa. There are wonderfull pictures and furniture throughout and while not used much the bar and lounge are ideal for an after dinner port before retiring to your room.

More historic information on the place would be great, but then again what we see as exceptional is no doubt taken for granted in Evora.

This hotel is centrally located in the historic town within easy walking distance to all the main sights including the Roman Temple, Chapel of bones and fortress like Cathedral. The Hotel had a museum feel to it with many common rooms and period furnishings.. Staff was very helpful and accommodating and the buffet style breakfast was varied and plentiful. .

Our room gave on a courtyard which was neglected yet had the potential to be a quaint garden or used as a parking.

A lovely, homey, renovated guesthouse with a lot of history and lots of steps. Good buffet breakfast, quiet, comfortable bed, and hot shower. Google Maps found it hard to locate, but once found, it was nice and central. In the old town of Evora, many things to explore but arriving and departing by foot from the bus and train station is difficult with luggage on the cobblestone streets (but doable) Thank you for my stay, I felt very at home, comfortable, welcome, and safe 😀
