staff hospitality is amazing, friendly, and always offering to go that extra mile for you. pools all warm despite the poor weather. spa facilities luxurious , restaurant food has a good selection and all perfectly cooked. Bar cocktails excellent visually and taste. Hotel even personalised a birthday cake ... honestly - service here is outstanding! we stayed in a few hotels across the island... Octants beats them all hands down. thankyou to all the staff! we have already recommended your hotel to future guests

literally everything was lovely ... but if I could add anything it would be to have a few more coffee capsules in the room ... having said this .. there is an out of hours coffee dispenser at reception... honestly no complaints here .. fabulous hotel.

This hotel is our "Happy Place." From the moment you arrive, you are greeted by NAME! And a little drink, that helped ease our issues with cancelled flights! The rooms are lovely, the spa is amazing. The food is local and great. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The pools are phenomenal and one of the main reasons we stayed here [our second time.] Furnas is a beautiful place to visit. Breakfast is a wonderful selection of local items.

The outdoor dining area has a residual mildew/mold/damp smell that bothered me, so we ended up eating inside of all of our meals.

We had a lovely stay at Octant Furnas. The rooms are nice with floor to ceiling windows, with small details that make it extra special, such as a Marshall speaker in every room, cute hats and a beach bag offered by the hotel, tea and coffee etc. The staff are all really kind and attentive. We were offered a wet towel and welcome drink when we arrived and while waiting to be checked in. The highlight of the hotel are the super relaxing heated indoor and outdoor pools and the spa area around them. It was so nice to swim outside in a heated pool under the rain :) The hotel also offers a very rich, diverse and delicious breakfast, served in a beautiful space. The lobby bar is really cozy, with good drinks, nice music and fun board games! The location of the hotel is also very beautiful, surrounded by so much greenery and very close to the main town of Furnas (walking distance). A car is needed and recommended to get to other places around the island of course. We would surely stay there again!! Highly recommended!

The room we got was right above the restaurant, which meant that whenever we opened the curtains, we would be looking down unto the restaurant and the guests there. The hotel assured us that the windows are tinted to guarantee privacy but it just felt a bit weird. We asked to changed rooms and the staff were quick to propose another room (the only other one available, for the next day, as they were fully booked). We eventually decided to stay in our room and it was quite comfortable nonetheless!

The thermal pools were excellent, it was great to have a mix of different temperatures and indoor and outdoor pools. Amazing to have with the changing weather! It was a peaceful location, in particular swimming in the outdoor pool amongst luscious green hills! The staff were incredible, they really went above and beyond to make our stay for our honeymoon special. We would definitely return to Octant Furnas!

Octant were aware of wear and tear issues in the building so are renovating it to maintain its high standards. We would agree that this work is essential from our experience.

A gorgeous hotel with a fantastic thermal pool that is available to use 24hrs a day! There’s a steam room and sauna also, a gym that had everything you would need for a great workout. The restaurant is stunning and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay on the island. If you are visiting Sao Miguel we found this location perfect. Hire a car and you can take trips to any part of the island in a day.

The only negative part of our trip was the first night, as there was an event in the restaurant it meant we were unable to have dinner when we arrived. Although we were not disappointed with the restaurants that surrounded the hotel!

The staff is fantastic and treated us to the most amazing hospitality! They knew our daughters named and called her by it the entire stay, and treated her to as many gummy worms at the front desk as she wanted - which was every time she walked by:)

Having three of us in a room made for a very tight stay - there was no room to move around. If you are traveling with kids this may be an issue for you. There is only 1 chair and the lighting is very very very dim. Also, the door to the bathroom opens into the toilet so no room to move around there either.

We loved our stay at Octant - the facilities are brilliant and we also enjoyed massages on the day we arrived. The staff are extremely friendly and made the stay very enjoyable. We ate at the restaurant 2 nights and the food was lovely - particularly the Wreck fish and the Beef Cheeks. Our stay at Octant was the perfect end to our trip to the Azores.

We booked the room with the terrace pool. We wouldn't do this again as the pool temperature is much cooler at these and we were also looking out onto a white wall. I think the standard room would have been ideal as we spent most of our time using the communal facilities.

Octant Furnas is an outstanding hotel. It is in a great location, close to the mineral springs, Terra Nostra Gardens and walking routes round the nearest caldera lake. There is easy parking and everything is well laid out and one experiences an air of ease when entering the lobby. From the reception staff to the restaurant staff we were treated with smiles and efficiency. One of our party had a massage and it was very good (you have to book -it's very popular!) The room was not huge but well laid out, and the addition of the speaker through which we could play music was a bonus. The spa area is inviting, and the robes and slippers supplied are used by everyone, giving a relaxed air to the activities. The food is really very good. The breakfast is excellent with dishes to suit every palate and a lot of local produce. We fully intend to stay again and for longer when we return to Sao Miguel. Can't recommend highly enough.

Hooks are needed for towels in the changing rooms in the spa by the showers. Seats in the restaurant need to be updated.

I loved the 24 hour access to the thermal pools, the snacks at night, pillow assortment, welcome drink and hospitality of the staff. The personal touches in the hotel are wonderful (providing us with a beach hat and a bag, plus some sparkling champagne). Breakfast was also very good, but by the 3rd morning was already tired of it. Would like to see some potatoes at breakfast vs. bread.

The room smelled like mold and was VERY musty- I highly recommend management to pause operations for a few weeks to uproot the carpet and remove it all. This is a hazard for patrons and staff as well. We also had the room at the very end, but I didn't like that there wasn't a mat outside to dry off on, you went straight to the carpet from the pool. Also, I tried to swim at night in our pool but there were so many bugs- perhaps leaving a catcher at each room for this purpose. The hotel itself seems quite old, the wooden trim at the pools seems to be decaying. The hotel is wonderful but needs a makeover. Male staff at night is not friendly and hardly acknowledged guests, even when we greeted him first.
