This hotel is simply amazing. We got offered an upgrade to a Suite. When we arrived to our room we had a basket of goodies waiting for us: 2 eye masks, a basket of fruit, water bottles, sweets. The hotel is simply beautiful. Every afternoon we were surprised by little gifts waiting for us in our room: chocolate bonbons or a brownie. The natural hot spring swimming pool open 24/7 is the best thing you can wish for. We loved to go for swims after dinner when it was cold at night and watch the stars. We had dinner twice in the hotel and the food was delicious. I would recommend the "cozido" soup, the lighter and more interesting version of the typical "cozido" – a meat dish cooked underground with the steam from the hot springs. We had a marvellous stay.

The hotel’s garden and thermal pools are very special, and guests can use them 24/7! We went for a dip at 6am and had it all to ourselves. An unforgettable experience. We got a room upgrade since we were celebrating a special occasion. The restaurant is an old school high quality food high number of well trained staff and very formal. We really enjoyed the dining experience. Check in was fast and friendly. Nothing was a problem for the staff. Parking was very convenient.

The bathroom tray was very low and easy to overflow so we had to wipe bathroom floor ourselves after every shower to avoid slip and fall. It perhaps needs raising the threshold. There are also only 2 bathrobe/towel hangers and both are inside the toilets. Perhaps adding couple on the bathroom door would help. I wondered if swimsuit dryer could be installed in indoor swimming pool lockers. But overall we had a really lovely stay!

The mineral pool is exceptional, the breakfast is outstanding with many choices, hot and cold foods, fruits, yogurt, many fresh homemade pastries, fresh squeezed fruit juices, good coffee. The people who work at this hotel are exceptional. The bellman, the desk staff, housekeeping and there was a bit of construction (to improve the mineral pool) and several hotel workers were there to take care you were able to pass to the pool. (This construction is temporary). Everyone was exceptionally nice. The hotel has a huge botanical garden to walk thru that is outstanding. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The products are very nice and they loan you an exceptional bathrobe to go to the pool. It was so comfortable I want to buy one like it! I’m coming back to this hotel whenever I am on this island!

that we could use the thermal pool and gardens in the evening when there was hardly anyone there! sitting in the pools until it got dark, watching the moon rise and the bats flitting about. comfortable room, great breakfast, brilliant atmosphere

sadly they were renovating part of the garden so couldn’t use the smaller pools and parts of garden in accessible. had to walk through the bar in our robes to get to the pools, which was a bit embarrassing, but not a huge deal. the music in the bar was great, but way too loud for the small seating area- we watched lots of people sit near the singers and then move after 5 mins of being blasted! they didn’t need speakers really- as very intimate seating area.

We loved our beautiful suite, swimming in the pool and of course the hot springs! It is a lovely private place and we would love to return someday. We have told all our friends about how unspoiled The Azores and San Miguel is.

The food was very attractively presented but not as tasty as we thought it should be for the price. However breakfast was exceptional. Put some real plants in the pool area, it would add so much. Place directions in the rooms on how to operate the coffee maker and other aspects of the room to help guide guests.

The staff were excellent friendly and professional. The dining experience was truly luxurious the volcano slow cooked lamb for two persons was the most delicious lamb we had even enjoyed. The gardens on the property were beautiful interesting and well maintained. By staying at the hotel you had abundant access to the grouds and thermal pool. Thank you Terra Nostra

There was construction of a section of the gardens which was loud most of the day and made some features inaccessable. A small credit or welcome beverage would have been appreciated as a token acknowledgement. The thermal pool was very large but the brown water does stain light coloured bathing atire and this sould have been mentioned. Also ther were no coffee/tea machines in the rooms or a station in the hotel to get these warm beverages except at a bar or outside patio. Little things that help improve the vibe.

The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the place including front desk, bar, dinner service and breakfast. We loved being able to explore the gardens and the thermal pool at all hours of the day . The grounds are clean and you can tell staff are on top of keeping it that way.

There is not much negative to say. There is lots of construction going on (Nov 2023) so some spots are off limits right now and the construction can be loud during the day. However every place needs up-keeping so I am sure once the construction is done if will be amazing.

A very special property in an amazing location in the heart of Furnas. The gardens are vast and magnificent and are available to hotel guests once it closes to the public. The hot springs with 24/7 access was an amazing perk. We loved going in the springs at night and star gazing. The hotel restaurant was very good, I loved my grilled fish special. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was very good.

The rooms were a bit dated and it was a bit noisy at times. The property was under construction so we felt like we missed out on some amenities since the jacuzzis were closed. The gardener restaurant was a bit lacking.

Comfortable room, nice decor, beautiful common areas of the hotel, and of course the Terra Nostra gardens and hot springs fed pool. Caretakers of the gardens are very welcoming and helpful and made us feel at home instantly. Amazing magical green fairly land, interesting engineering of the hot water spouts, and to think it is heated by a volcano! Very authentic and peaceful after the crowds have gone, and certainly a special treat to have late night access to the pool. We do hope it remains so after the modern renovations are done. The construction was not very disruptive for our experience as we stayed only one night and weren’t there during the day. They appear to start around 9 and finish at 6.

We had to literally get up from our table and go ask for every single thing at breakfast, like more coffee and juice, milk for coffee, fresh eggs, staff wasn’t making eye contact at all after they seated us initially. Very nice restaurant but service was strange. Also we were not allowed to choose the table or wait for the one we wanted. We were seated too close to another couple (side by side with a small partition) and it almost ruined our tranquil spa experience as they were taking loudly. Not a big deal overall but a bit more care would have been nice.

The hotel was amazing. It exceeded our expectations a lot as it turned out to be an actual 5-star level with outstanding service, super helpful and professional staff, two really good restaurants, especially the sushi bar). Everything from furniture to food at breakfast is of great quality and up to the highest standards (and we are quite well-traveled and not easy to impress). But most importantly, the amazing Terra Nostra Garden with its thermal pools is exclusively reserved for hotel guests from 4:30 pm to 10:30 am. Which means you can calmly explore the garden with no crowds as if's was only yours. This was probably our favorite experience in the Azores. Will definitely return again.

The bed was too soft as the hotel uses mattress covers to make a double bed out of two singles. This would have resulted in back pain if our stay was a bit longer. Also, the Terra Nostra garden is currently undergoing renovations and all the garden view rooms are facing the construction site, so it can get pretty noisy at daytime. But I must point out that the hotel warned us about that in advance, and that it will end in a couple of months anyway.
