Location is superb, just off the busy Liberdade on a quiet, tree-lined street, but just minutes from all the shops, restaurants, and tourist hotspots. The hotel is really nice and clean, and quite modern. Great facilities including gym, indoor pool and a great rooftop jacuzzi. Decent size rooms, quiet, and great beds and pillows, and a very nice bathroom. You'll get a great nights' sleep here. Make sure you get the breakfast included too, it is superb.. although, at €22 each per day, it should be!!!

We were dissappointed with the servicing of our room. We had no towels when we arrived.. another day, sugar from my morning coffee hadn't been cleaned off the top, and milk and sugar not been replenished nor water changed in the coffee machine. I expect better from a 5 star at this price. Service on the rooftop is a bit wanting too.. no staff at all on the roof at times to service the bar, and one day, nobody had put cushions or towels out, and it was a beautiful afternoon!! Final whinge is the cost of drinks at the hotel - stay clear of the spirits which are extortionate, but maybe that's 5 star pricing these days. Don't let any of this put you off this hotel though, it truly is amazing. My negative comments are directed at the hotel so they might be able to improve.

Location was great it was walking distance to city centre and many sightseeing locations. Room was nice and clean. Breakfast was also nice, you could order your own omelettes and pancakes.

Nothing bad but just wanted to let you know that I have two small kids (5 and 2 years old) and they told me that we had to be quiet to use swimming pool so I think it was more for adults use.

We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived to the time we checked out. The staff were all exceptionally friendly. The breakfast buffet offered lots of choice and was high quality. We dined in the hotel restaurant on two nights and enjoyed our meals, one night with a Fado singer to entertain us. The hotel is in the heart of the best shopping district in Lisbon, just off the Avenida da Liberdade and about 30 minutes walk from the old quarter of the city, so a good location. There is a nice indoor swimming pool and spa too. We stayed 5 nights and would definitely recommend the Portobay

Breakfast was great, pool area and stream room were really handy and open good hours. Location is perfect and nice location.

The rooftop area was reserved for a private function two days on the trott so unable to use the sunbathing and jacuzzi facilities which was a shame, they should caveat this in the booking. Also have the information available first thing in the morning as we planned our day/s around being able to come back to sit in the sun As nice as a chocolate on the pillow is before bed, please don't knock on doors at 930pm it's too late. Staff at breakfast were confused a lot of the time, kept wanting to bring us drinks we did not order or not putting orders through.

The bed was very comfortable and loved the decking area outside the room. The shower was great and there was a comfortable couch and desk. The breakfast had a good selection of food. The area around the hotel was very smart and the spa area was very nice.

Room was dusty on arrival and the towels hanging inside the shower. For some reason the TV didn't go very loud and was difficult to hear. We ordered eggs at breakfast and only my husbands arrived. After several reminders mine finally came. The staff at breakfast were much better on Monday than Sunday. We asked for some fruit from room service and a few slices of apple and banana arrived for 10 euros!. We did finally get a whole apple and banana after much explaining. The gym could do with some more equipment and new mats.

Staff excellent, friendly and helpful. Hotel stunningly clean- bedroom and bathroom absolutely spotless but very comfortable and welcoming. Super comfy bed. Ate twice at the restaurant as we had busy days and the food there was excellent, chefs specials particularly great value, clearly priced, delicious and imaginative. To give context we very rarely eat in at hotels- we always get out exploring small local places but this was excellent. it was my husband's birthday whilst we were there and they gave him a lovely surprise- so many small touches which impressed us. We usually go for small independent hotels and my husband was slightly anxious when we arrived that this could be "businessy" but really just felt well run, welcoming, great location, great facilities, love to go back. Will def use this group of hotels again too. Thank you!

Book ahead if you want a spa treatment, they get busy, we couldn't have one.

It was an excellent hotel. Room was very comfortable, the meal we had was lovely and the pool and surrounding environment was very relaxing. We were also grateful for early check in. Great location in pleasant area of city.

There were a few frustrations that really weren’t necessary. The hotel dinner is not low cost so why feel the need to charge 5 euro for water when it seemed to be offered complimentary and is also available in your room. They changed 7 euro for 2 x bread for the table. This was just brought to the table and not requested. I still have no idea what the 2 euro room charge for ‘food’ was. Surely not the small carton of milk I made my tea with? This isn’t good enough after paying a fair amount for a RO package. We were also locked out of our room before check out. No explanation was given and caused inconvenience. A disappointment after they were very accommodating on arrival. All this is not hugely significant I’ll admit given the hotel was so lovely but still a gripe.

This is a beautiful hotel. I would class it more as a Boutique vibe despite its size, and there are certainly larger sprawling hotels on the Liberdade avenue. However PortoBay Liberdade is quiet and calm, and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They are very polite and extremely helpful - we had some excellent advise about avoiding the monastery queue and going to the LX Factory (very cool!). I would definitely stay again and strongly recommend this hotel.

Great location, away from the hustle and bustle, but easily walkable to the main attractions. Close to the metro station. Staff go the extra mile to make your stay extra special. Luxurious bedroom, very comfortable and spacious. Fabulous selection at the buffet breakfast, with á La carte options available. They even had soy yogurt and milk, which I appreciated. Would definitely stay here again.

Absolutley perfect hotel. The location was fab. I researched a few hotels in Lisbon and so glad I went with this one. We had a room with a little verander which was just so pretty. Hotel staff were lovely and friendly...even had some plasters for my husbands feet (after lots of walking around the beautiful city!) I would totally recommend this hotel. Loved the swimming pool and spa facilities also. Roof top decking was lovely....wish we had made more use of that. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay...the first one myself and my hsuband have had since having our 2 daughters.
