Easy to get to. Quick walk to the wharf (or free shuttle). Right across the street from the convention centre. Nice breakfast. Our first room was really nice, big corner room, same price, but our second room was the same layout but MUCH smaller so you room can vary although both were nice enough. Beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

The area is not very safe. Upon arriving our first day, mid afternoon, we looked out the window to see an older couple being mugged on the boardwalk (thankfully security was close by). One of our colleagues was attacked on his walk back on one of the nights and stabbed several times, ending up in the hospital. Another of our colleagues was carjacked on the street nearby. Be extremely careful walking alone during the day or at night. Uber works well but can be tricky to get someone after midnight.

We stayed for a week and loved this hotel. Excellent location, confortable and quiet room, beautiful facilities, especially the entrance hall with the giant Christmas tree. Good and varied breakfast and the "Stella" cafe/restaurant is excellent value for money. We had most of our dinners there. Staff is very friendly and professional. A big thanks to the receptionist at the guided tours counter who was very helpful and quick in arranging our private tour to the Cape of Good Hope. We also appreciated the breakfast boxes prepared for our early departure.

The swimming pool is quite small for the number of guests and always full. The piano player, who plays at breakfast and in the evenings, makes more noise than music, mainly because he plays so fast that all the tunes end up sounding the same. Other than this everything was perfect.

Opposite the ICCC arena so extremely convenient for the Netball World Cup which I was attending. Hotel shuttle bus to and from Waterfront every hour throughout the day, so felt very safe. Security excellent and staff very helpful at all times. Concierge booked trips for me with ‘African Eagles’ from the hotel, pick up and drop off. Very efficient and great guides. Excellent buffet breakfast. Excellent bar food. Poolside and spa area very comfortable.

Bar area long and narrow with not sufficient seating but obviously all netball supporters returning from games at the same time. Pool was in full view of bar and restaurant above and reception area. I hardly saw anyone use it!

The Location was perfect, it was very near to a lovely area called The Waterfront. The shuttle bus was wonderful and very efficient and Freddy was always cheerful and friendly, like all the staff. The receptionists were so nice and very helpful in booking tours etc. The Bedroom was very comfortable and the bathroom had a bath as well as a shower an extra bonus! Food was delicious and meals were well presented and very good value. Lovely piano playing at breakfast time.

We went there because the Munster Rugby Team were playing in the URC final (which we won) so the bar was packed for the few nights before and after the match. There wasn't enough staff on to cope with the numbers but they were all lovely and never lost their smiles.

The breakfast was really good. The room was comfortable although it could do with some updating. The pool area and spa were relaxed and the afternoon snacks in the reception were welcome. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The gym was neat but not very well maintained. The multi-purpose weight machine was broken. It was reported to the reception a few times, the first being on our second day, however by the time we checked out 6 days later it was still broken. Two of the bikes and one other cardio machine were also out of commission.

Central location. Old 'colonial' architecture which is impressive although decor is somewhat dated. Customer service is excellent. Staff helpful. Extra touches, e.g. food/drink in reception, piano accompaniment with meals etc. Food of generally good standard. A lot of variety offered for breakfast. Spa was a bonus and obtained a very good massage.

Buffet food for restaurant felt a little down-market and probably not worth the value. I only used it on the first night. Rooms were good, but not necessarily 5* level - tired decor, no ironing board/iron, windows don't fit tightly.... Early check was agreed but unable to facilitate as 'fully booked'. Able to use the spa shower to wash & change.

Lovely hotel - too far to walk from the V&A safely - but taxi and shuttle service available outside as is the hop/off bus - both routes Hotel was clean - we arrived early but we got one room within an hour restaurant food was in large portions WiFi better in room than around the pool

The service around he pool for food and drink was slow - no enough waiters, it is quicker to walk to the bar and bring your won drinks back and order food for delivery to your table

Location , refurbished rooms and cleanliness

Some maintenance issues, our room the shower leaked as the door gap was uneven and my kids room the shower tray leaked through the walls onto the outdoor carpet Also for the first couple of nights the air cons were not working properly but this was well resolved by the Manager

The food was excellent. The room had a great view. The hotel was very convenient for the Hop on Hop off bus which takes you everywhere in the cape. It had a good shuttle service to the V&A Waterfront. And very interesting with various national 7s rugby teams staying there for the series of matches.

When we first got there it was full of 100s of people from a cruise ship which spoilt the ambience somewhat as they were being treated differently to everyone else and were basically a rabble. Also very loud music one night in the pool area which also spoilt dinner.

For an older hotel the amenities and condition were outstanding. The breakfasts were fantastic and I really appreciated the variety of offerings. I especially liked the candy in the lobby in the afternoons. The location was perfect for easily getting around Cape Town and I felt safe.
