The hotel staff is the one of the friendliest people I have ever met. Really pleased with their approach to the guests. We would like to especially thank to Danny on the bar who made us some great cocktails! The room we got is pretty big with a great view on the balcony towards the sea, very very beautiful to spend time there, overall the hotel is on a great spot with superb view towards the sea. The room was cleaned every day. Don't hesitate to ask Anna from the staff if you need something planned as an activity on the island, they will set you up on good price as well :) We had breakfast every day and it was great, you have different options which is a big plus. The restaurant at the hotel which is also on the beach is a great place to eat/drink while enjoying the view of the sea + guests of the hotel have a nice discount for food/drinks. (I recommend the vegetable samosas :)) I would visit again some day! Big thank you!

Unfortunately there was one electricity outage for 10 hours during our stay but it wasn't too impactful. Just be ready for that if it happens and rest assured it will come back. Also you are able to enjoy life without some electricity :) After all you are on a paradise island :)

Check in was smooth and the staff were very accommodating on our late arrival. The room was gorgeous and we simply enjoyed spending a whole day on the balcony taking in the sights! Food was delicious, alcohol was available at the cute restaurant downstairs right on the beach. The tide is out 12-5pm but it’s too hot to swim anyway then as you’ll burn. We loved swimming when the tide was in. Breakfast was simply delicious, try the vegetable chapati! Power cuts do happen and Wi-Fi cuts out but that’s just Zanzibar, not the hotel. I also actually think this is the better end of the beach to stay at as there are more business men down the other end of the beach.

Only improvement would be to accept card payments as the ATM is a 30-40 minute walk away and doesn’t always work.

It could not have been better. Daniel at the bar made us feel like family and so did the very nice lady at the reception. She arranged taxis, gave recommendations and thought about eveything we needed. We also got to meet the owner, who himself seems also such a nice person. They make everything possible for you to spend a beautiful vacation!!

Tansania hat issues with electricity during our stay, but the team managed to work around it. They did everything possible to still serve delicious breakfast and light the room with candles!

If you are into partying, then this is the wrong place for you. This is a charming small boutique hotel (6 rooms) well outside the main tourist area of Nungwi, where most of the hotels, shops, restaurants and tourist beaches are located. It takes, however, just a 15 min walk along the beach to get there. On this walk, you will pass a school, a place where the locals build and repair dhows, as well as the local fish market, hence enabling you to get a glimpse of the day-to-day life of the local population. At high tide, when it is not possible to walk on the public beach, you can either walk through an obviously less fashionable residential area of Nungwi village or still walk along the shore, but you will have to briefly cross the property of another hotel whose security guards, however, seem to be fine with that. The hotel is brand new, bath rooms are spotless clean, wifi works well, complimentary tea, instant coffee and drinking water are provided. Restaurant and bar were still under construction when I stayed there. The upside was that therefore breakfast was served on the balcony. All of the rooms have a balcony and sea view. Right next to the hotel is a small local shop. There is also a local beach right next to the hotel where you can go for a swim provided it is high tide. Hotel staff was always available and very helpful.

Crystal Beach Nungwi is absolutely the best stay in Zanzibar! It is not like the most five star hotels. It is small and familiar. Anna did everything for us, so we felt very well cared. She gave us a lot of advices and asked every day whether we feel good. One day my husband was sick at his stomach, so she asked him whether he would like to have a soup that was brought into our room. At our last day we could stay in our room until the evening. So we could have a nap and a shower before we went to the airport. The rooms were very clean and all stuff was very kind and always in a good mood. The view from the balcony was awesome! Highly recommend this hotel!

- Staff were very friendly, appreciated the helpfulness of Rashid and Daniel (we stayed in 3 areas of Zanzibar and Daniel’s drinks and juices were by far the best) - The room itself is very spacious and the view and comfort of the balcony was amazing. The room was very clean - Vibe in the reception/ bar area on the beach was great with a TV for watching the football games - Very great laundry service, 10 USD for a full load, which we gave in at 10pm and got back in the middle of the next day - Great value for money

- We personally really enjoyed the location because this part of the beach was substantially quieter and more relaxed than other areas of nungwi, but if you are coming for night life and a busier scene then this is slightly further out, and you will need a 10 min taxi to the centre (3 USD each way) - Wi-fi was not good at all, we were not even able to send pictures via WhatsApp (husband was NOT happy) - Breakfast was okay, but could do with a broader range

This go to a 6 rate to a 9 rate. Everyone there tried everything to give you a nice stay, and when that happened is a good felling. The location and the staff is the best. Food is good for me the tuna was the best. Very nice fresh juice. But the location is key. The pillow was big and hard, then buy new ones. The AC as fail all the time they change de power supply and give a new room update... Was a nice stay.

The location is perfect - right on the beach, with beautiful views. At a quiet end of Nungwi, so without the noise and hassel, but within comfortable walking distance or a quick taxi drive to the busier main beach area. The rooms are comfortable and very well kept. Breakfast choices are varied and the food is good, with a choice of either having it at the on-site beach restaurant or delivered to your room. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Anna takes care of guests with a personal touch and Daniel provides food and drinks at the restaurant/bar with a smile and a friendly chat every time. I travelled with my elderly mom, and the staff were so helpful and caring. We are already looking forward to our next stay!

Absolutely nothing.

Everything was great. The rooms Are really clean and comfortable. Food is amazing and the stuff is really lovely. We had a great time hanging around the hotel and the atmosphere was always really nice. The view is amazing and position of the hotel is great. Ac was always working and so did the WiFi. I really recommend this place. Thank you for having us! :)

Very good place if you want to avoid more noisy part of nungwi and people constantly trying to sell you something; Nice staff, breakfast and food options during the day are limited but very tasty (especially vegetable chapati and big fruit plate in the morning and the octopus in the evening); peaceful, very good value for money and exactly what we expected; transportation from the airport organised for us, including different trips, and the same driver took care of us during those trip; very good experience; all in all this is Africa and this is also something that you have to consider when spending time in Zanzibar. If we would ever come back to Zanzibar we would stay here again.

Beds were a bit hard but this did not spoil the vacation. Not the best beach but our children didn’t mind this that much and there is also very nice place to spend the time in the sea just around the corner
