The location is lovely, very old 17th Coaching House surrounded by lovely walks. Food was delicious. Both the lady and gentleman that own it were very approachable and friendly.

Pub was all locked up when we arrived, after a few minutes a gentleman came out to meet us. There was a mobile number in the window to contact but we missed it. We weren't aware there were quite steep, external, stone steps to some of the rooms, again not too much of a problem but could be for some people. Although the cooked breakfast food was delicious, I was really taken back that the choice of beverages was simply tea or coffee...I don't drink either and for £10 per person I had to provide my own fresh orange. For a two night stay, again not a deal breaker but an alternative fresh juice for breakfast would have been fab.

The hosts, Tyrone & Jennifer were warm, friendly and so kind! We had been cycling the Coast 2 Coast all day and were exhausted and couldn’t wait to get to our room. I left booking kind of late and all that was left was the Bothy room, which I wasn’t sure how we’d fit. To our delight, it was the perfect size for two cyclists. It was Spartan clean with the most comfortable beds & duvets & plenty of hot water for showers. (Tyrone kindly locked our bikes in a secure garage overnight - such a peace of mind!) After a shower and a nap, we went to their pub and ate delicious, home-cooked food that literally made me do a happy dance in my seat! I’m already thinking of planning a future trip to come back (maybe hiking this time).

Honestly, I have nothing negative to say.

Myself and my daughter were undertaking the coast to coast cycle challenge. We arrived in Weardale wet and tired after a full days cycling. We were received at the coach house with a fantastic warm welcome. It was exactly what we needed. Some lovely home cooked food in the attached pub on the evening (Golden Lion) and a cooked breakfast the next morning set us up for the final leg of our challenge. The hosts were very friendly and had local information about the route, which was really helpful. If we ever pass through Weardale again we would look to see them again.

The location was perfect, just on the edge of the village and a stone’s throw from walks along the River Wear & the Weardale way. The Staff & owners could not have given a warmer welcome and been anymore attentive. Full English breakfast was a cracking way to start the day the following morning to. Great value for money.

If I was to be picky the TV was very small, but hey the view out the window was gonna be so much more addicting than what was on tv.

Breakfast was lovely a solid cooked one, nicely done and good size. A pot of tea a bonus along with cereals and toast.

If breakfast had been in with the price as well rather than an extra. On the booking.com page it is charged more than what it actually costs which seems strange? The pub alarm went off at 11pm and took some time for owners to return to for the alarm to switch off or to reset but no big deal.

Excellent location in the heart of some great country. We stayed for two nights whilst on a cycling trip and the location was ideal. Staff could not have been more helpful and the room was just what we needed. We got the bunk room which was great for us.

Wonderful stay while completing the C2C. Very good location just off the main C2C route. Fantastic hosts, lovely pub, and delicious food that was very welcomed after a long day of cycling from Penrith. Will definitely be returning!

This is a lovely old pub in a quiet village. We had a comfortable room at the back with an entrance up the old outside stairs with a very pleasant view. The landlord, Tyrone, was very pleasant. We arrived late but his wife made us a lovely fish pie. It’s popular with walkers. The hills around the village are stunning.

We were disappointed with the breakfast we’d paid extra for. We were only offered cereal and toast. Don’t know what happened there!

I did like the apartment flat where I stated it was lovely and clean the bed was really comfortable as well. the views around there were beautiful and so peaceful

1. the toilet seat was already off in the flat before I used it 2.before I checked in before I phoned up I did find the lady quite rude and abrupt when I only wanted to ask a few questions about the place and availability as I had problems booking it on the app. until later I managed to get just booked through the app later. also did get a unpleasant greeting when I checked in. overall I didn’t have any complaints about the stay as it was a nice apartment/flat
