The location is great, and our room looked out over the river. The room was clean and comfy. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, they couldn'tdo enough for us. The food is really good. Breakfast and dinner were both very good. And served on hot plates. The bedding was spotless, and the king-size bed comfy

It is an old building but very quaint. The decor is shaby throughout. Paper peeling off the walls in the dining room. The room was very tired, peeling paint and the furniture was scuffed and very worn and the carpet is long overdue for replacement. I am not sure how they got a 4 stsr rating, its only a 3 star. Greene King, get this amazing property refurbished and quickly.

Truly excellent, picturesque location. Staff friendly, particularly on arrival, which was nice. Superior room booked was spacious and comfortable with view over river at centre of village. Comfy bed. Restaurant serving a good range of pub based, unpretentious dishes at a reasonable cost. Nice bar area. Full English breakfast was very good. It was good to be able to park in the small car park - we were lucky in there being one space left on arrival. However, it's very tight, especially if other vehicles are SUVs, so car parking aids if fitted are certainly very useful here! So if driving, I'd recommend researching alternative parking places in the village before arrival to save angst if there are no spaces at the hotel. Access via an archway btw. I'd suggest you do a quick check for spaces on foot before committing the car.

Shower control and function in room needed a bit of maintenance. Warm only and a bit variable in temperature and flow. Manageable and acceptable for our one night though. Likewise various bits and bobs perhaps need a bit of TLC, and floorboards squeak a bit, but I'd say that adds to its character and personally we prefer that experience to say a generic 'multinational chain' atmosphere. To be clear though, we'd certainly stay again.

Breakfast each morning was worth it's weight in gold! Yummy and set us up for a day of exploring. Lovely central location great for newbies to the cotswolds like us. Asked on arrival if we wanted to book a table for dinner and after a long day of travelling that was very welcome not needing to worry about where we would be eating that evening. Clean room with good tea/coffee station which was filled up without us needing to be asked.

Not very clear on where parking was for the hotel no signs visible from road, so when we checked in we had already paid for car parking over night when we didn't need too. Reserve a space option and a sign would make this place even better to avoid other people having unnecessary parking charges.

The location was perfect, and our top room with a view to the water was more than we could have expected and was completely dreamy. Honestly, the best room in the house! The decor and the overall look of the hotel was exactly what we expected in the Cotswolds. Everything was clean and as good as we could expect for such an old hotel. We loved it!

The pillows and bed were too firm for mine and my husband comfort level. It was hard to sleep. However, the firmness could be perfect for someone else, so it's not really a true con. Admittedly, the music in the bar and restaurant (2010 party/ Top 20 type of vibe) were unexpected for a historical hotel in the Cotswolds and really took us out of the experience. Again, this could be a very personal thing for us :-)

We enjoyed our stay at this historic hotel. It is located at the most visited spot in this lovely town and it is fun to see all the visitors enjoying the green area around the river, with kids and dogs splashing in the cold river. Staff were very helpful in storing our bicycles in a safe shed. Our room was upstairs in an annex and, reflecting the very old nature of the old building, we had to duck to pass through the doorway. Our room was small, with twin beds set against the walls and a narrow space to reach the bathroom. There was a desk and a table, so it was comfortable enough. Breakfast was average, although service was a bit slow on our second day, with orders mixed up.

If you like historic inns, nothing could be better.

The room was well presented and the décor great with a very comfortable bed.The location is excellent , the carpark is tight but manageable even with a large 4x4 as long as you are lucky enough to get a space. The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful.

The kitchen ventilation extractor was right outside ore window and although there was double glazing it was quite loud in the morning when they started cooking breakfast. I suppose if you were a light sleeper or wanted a lie in it may have been a problem but it didnt affect us in this sense as we were up early ish. and it certainly wouldnt put me off booking again!

There was nothing to dislike about this Inn, everything from start to finish was thoroughly enjoyable. We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady, Claire, I think, who was bubbly and very friendly. Check in was fast and easy. The room was lovely, very quaint, a decent size and well equipt for an old building. The bathroom was large and clean, the bed was very comfy and good pillows too. You couldn't sneak about though as every floor board creaked but this added to the character of the lovely old building. We ate in the Inn restaurant and the food was very good. I had the chicken and ham pie and my partner the steak, absolutely delicious, hot and plentiful. We also had breakfast at the Inn which was extremely good. I had a full English which was really tasty, especially the bacon, my partner had salmon with poached eggs which looked so good I could have eaten that too, all served with a smile by Aeryn and Grace and prepared by the "hot staff" Jay. The whole Inn was beautiful, a nice bar to sit and have a drink, a lovely restaurant leading on to a small court yard/ parking area and a lovely seating area out front to eat or drink in. The location is idyllic, set along side the river over a lovely small bridge in the center of the village. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable and excellently priced I would definitely go back again..

Nothing to dislike.

We stayed for two nights, dining in the restaurant the first night and breakfasts both days. Our first night meal was excellent! And the breakfast choices were outstanding and very well presented and tasty. Claire and Stephanie went above and beyond for check in and bar service. We would definite stay here again. Beds were comfy and the towels nice and fluffy. The perfect location for walking around the village and visiting The Model Village, the Motoring and Toy Museum and the lovely walks along the river. Loads of great places to eat and good pubs. Please note, that as in most older properties, there is no lift.

We had one room in the main part of the property and one twin bedded room in the "cottage" part of the property. The carpet in the twin bedded room was somewhat stained and old looking

Obviously the location is the best !! the hotel it’s self is charming & filled with character to date , from the wonky creaky floors to the little date etching we had on our pane of glass , the bed is huge comfortable & the bathroom is of a decent size .. the room was actually rather hot considering the weather it rained non stop and was pretty windy we actually slept with both windows open but again for me that was pretty perfect, listening to the river , the rain and the birds , PERFECT !!! , it was just perfect ..the large fire place is beautiful down in the Bar Area , the dining area is large with beautiful single glazed glass doors / windows onto the patio at the back & the front seating area is on the river , so I imagine on a summers day it’s amazing.. it’s just very charming .

Wasn’t that I didn’t like it but The bar area itself is a little small if you want to sit at a table people were walking in and out again because they were all taken , which I guess is good in a way .. but obviously nothing can be done about that it’s the shape of the building .
