We were more than satisfied with the whole hotel, from the reception we got on arrival to the room, facilities, food, cleanliness, grounds and the staff from the bottom to the top. They helped us with anything and everything we needed to make our stay 1st class, so friendly and hard working.

The main reason for our visit was for walking. We started at the 10th hole of the golf course because there was no clear signage as to where to start and the golfers were not happy as we were walking across their line of fire. We finally found the beginning of the walks on our last day, it starts on the way to the 1st tee, but there is no signage for anyone to know this.

Building lovely and In beautiful grounds - a little different to most run of the mill hotels. Able to take our two miniature schnauzer dogs. Restaurant staff on one night we used main restaurant, were very nice and obliging (especially we think the manager). Also staff at breakfast were helpful and had a smile and we felt wanted our stay to be pleasurable.

Nowhere to eat with our dogs so we generally had to go out for evening meal. Quite impersonable - although staff on reception were OK, we felt they were ‘just doing their job’ and not much else. Except for restaurants and spa, we didn’t see or have contact with anyone else - perhaps because the hotel is the size it is. Not a complaint but observation. (Except for eating with dogs).

Bedroom - reasonably comfortable king bed (pushed together singles so very spacious), and room well appointed with decent linens and good extras (espresso machine, kettle, biscuits etc, fridge, bathrobes, spare softer/harder pillows, good hairdryer, storage, and everything worked) Better-than-expected shower (over-bath, but with curtain that stayed put, proper nonslip mat, decent pressure and new showerhead) Pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna all included - clean, with towels, a swimsuit-dryer (so useful) and complimentary fruit Able to bring family guests to swim (for small fee)

complete lack of bedside points - none at all either side, and just one double at the desk and a couple at skirting level in the rest of the room. Not adequate a little noisy (thin walls?) and squeaky beds lack of bathmat to step out onto (we had to use the smaller towels as mats) dangerously slippery floors in pool /sauna changing rooms where there were no mats couldn't charge a breakfast to the room - have to pay at the desk to get a token. tedious...

check in at 4pm is too late in the day , check out too early; between 11 am and 12 would have meant a more chilled out check out and relaxed start to the day - in the night and early morning people were chatting away in the corridors for a lengthy period of time…Disturbing sleep. Due to the high standards of the hotel we were surprised that residents would think it’s ok to do this. Not sure if it was a one off but it should state this in future policy of certain time limits to night time chatting. Even signs in corridors would help.

Firstly the Hotel looks amazing, I arrived very late, about 12.30am and the hotel looked majestic lit up by the spot lights. Checked in and made my way to my room. A coffee was made and a nice hot shower, bathroom was a little old fashioned, but the water was hot and a thoroughly powerful shower greeted me. I was lights out by 1:00am and up at 6:30 the next day, I had visions of going to the pool on level 2 but with the rare chance of an extra 10 mins in a comfy double bed to myself won. I had an appointment at 8.00am so breakfast was skipped. Next time I'm back this way I will happily return to this hotel but give myself more than 6 hours to fully enjoy everything the hotel offeres.

My only slight criticism is when I checked in the receptionist was a little light on the information and I didn’t get that warm fuzzy feeling in my tummy. Granted it was after midnight but this was my first trip to the hotel and a little nod towards the lifts etc would have been appreciated.

The location was good, the pool is lovely for the children and the room was very comfortable, clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.

If you want a relaxing retreat, this is not the place to stay. You can hear everything that the next door room, below room and above room are doing. The door to every room slams shut very loudly, which disturbed our sleep. I bought earplugs for us all to wear the second night we stayed; which helped. Also, the breakfast is extremely overpriced for what you get! £16.50 per person and children over 12!! There is a subway, McDonald’s and a lovely cafe just down the way from the hotel.

Fantastic location, gorgeous grounds. Staff were amazing and friendly. Service was brilliant for breakfast. The Grill bar was lovely, served quickly and having Starbucks coffee was a bonus. We used the spa to the girls were lovely and the treatments were very relaxing.

The only down side was on our second night we could hear the music to the wedding. There was a wedding both night we were there, we weren't guest to either. Friday night we dint hear a thing but the Saturday, it was very notice able. Not a complaint as it is wedding season. But when you have a room at the front of the hotel which is the opposite side on where the function was held, it was clear the Saturday night DJ was just louder.

The outside is stunning and the reception area is nicely decorated. The room was lovely, the bed was comfortable and it was nice and warm throughout the hotel. The leisure facilities were good although the pool wasn’t as warm as we would have liked, others also commented that the water was cold. The jacuzzi and steam room were great though. The shower was lovely nice and powerful.

The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly there were several hairs on the floor and in the bath. We specifically chose the hotel for the pool but it was too cold for us to enjoy it fully. We could have done with more sachets of coffee for the room.

Staff were really helpful and friendly, particularly Matthew and David and a lady who worked in the evening meal bar area. I apologise for forgetting her name she has dark hair and wore hair in bunches (if that helps) and she was always very friendly and helpful and made me feel very at ease and was exceptional at her customer service. She deserves the best merit. Matthew was kind enough to reserve a table for me at easy reach as he'd noticed me using a walking stick. So that was much appreciated. The hot tub and pool steam room were all great as were the treatments (massages). So good I have joined their leisure club and going back every few weeks now for more treatments and using the pool facilities again.

My room was ground floor which was easy to get to breakfast bar as my mobility is bad and use a walking stick however for evening meal and to get to the pool or treatment area and evening meal bar it was hard to get there. So it would have been far easier to have been able to only have to get to 1 area for both breakfast and dinner bar. Should be more accessible for disabled people. Even though there are lifts it is a long walk for me.
