This is a well-run, tastefully decorated and friendly place to stay. It's very close to the beach and only 1/2 kilometer from the village shops. There is a bus stop right out front. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant onsite, and food is delicious. The chef is excellent. I would highly recommend it. Also, there was laundry service available, which was highly convenient.

The only drawback for me was the lack of a desk. I would take out the dresser and put in a desk. There is a wardrobe that gives one plenty of room for clothing.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Sands in Burntisland. Hotel prices in Edinburgh are crazy these days, and with Burntisland being less than 30 mins by train, it makes the perfect base for visiting Edinburgh plus the surrounding Fife area. Room was a decent size, with possibly the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. Great restaurant and pub on site, with a large beer garden if the weather is good. Breakfast was included, and was excellent. Staff are all great, nothing was too much trouble and would have absolutely no hesitation staying again.

Nothing not to like.

The staff at Burntisland were wonderful! We had a mix-up at check-in — requested a twin room (even verified via Booking e-mail 2 weeks prior to stay) but were given a double room. Joan (I think was her name) was very kind and gave us a roll-away for the first night and then made sure that we were in a twin room the next night. Joan is a really hard worker and went out of her way to help us with other things. Also the breakfasts were the best of all the places we stayed while in Scotland — really amazing cook!

The rooms could use some updating.

Hospitality was great, though had to approach bar to find someone to check in, the hotel and bar was an older but very well loved place, rooms were small but comfortable and decent bathrooms for each. Clean, comfortable beds and pillows. Bar downstairs was well stocked for drinks and the small menu was very good. Food was quick and delicious and dessert was incredible. Breakfast was included and we had access to the full breakfast menu- food was again great and quick. Parking was behind the building, small area but locked overnight. Hotel was a short walk from the beach, a leisure centre and a park with playground. The staff were all fantastic, helpful and friendly, they had a very genuine Scottish charm.

Would love to have minifridges, signage for check in info would also be helpful. But really no complaints.

The rooms were spacious and smelled lovely and clean. The sea views were amazing, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were filling and plentiful the evening means available at an extra cost were delicious.

There was a mix up with our evening meals on one of the nights and our prebooked meal was unavailable however we were given complimentary free meals as compensation so really nothing to be unhappy about.

The staff were very efficient and helpful, nothing was too much for them. My room was basic but had everything you would need. It has a beautiful sea view. Looking across the sea at night time and seeing all lights coming from the Edinburgh was quite breathtaking. The food, I’m 63 years old and I have admit the breakfast was the best breakfast I have ever had, it was no fluke either. I had the Scottish breakfast three mornings on the trot and every morning the quality was absolutely spot on.

The staff were helpful, friendly and a joy to talk to. The room was lovely and clean. The food was great and generous. The view from my room was nice. What I saw in the pictures was basically what I got.

I couldn't get on the WiFi but that could have been me. I could have asked a member of staff but it never actually bothered me that much. You could hear a little more noise from the room next door than I would have liked. I think the partition wall was a little thin. This was not problem but can imagine it could be with different people next door. Would have preferred a proper reception area. The electric shaver point in the bathroom did not work but I could work around it. For me though I found these things minimal on my stay, I viewed them as easy fixes, any negatives were outweighed by the god and would gladly stay again.

we had a nice stay. good evening meal, good breakfast good selection of drinks at the bar. there is a train line at the bottom of the courtyard, but it was quiet and you bearly hear the trains with the window closed. It was a quiet and nice stay.

shower clip was broken in the room, it still worked ok, but probably would have fallen off if knocked.

its a small friendly hotel, the breakfast is great, and its easy walking distance to the railway station. I used this for a night out in Edinburgh, as its a nicer place to stay than Edinburgh centre at a fraction of the price. The bed was comfortable and the shower and bathroom were great.

I should have got a sea view room like last time, but having said that the road nearby was not noisy at night and I didn't notice it really so not actually a big issue.
