Village Hotel Edinburgh

The food was great we ate in the evening and had breakfast too. The staff were fantastic happy to help and the bar staff super friendly. The only down side was I called up to see how far it was from the castle as I have an injury at the moment. We were told it was just over a mile but It was over 3 miles walking so by the time we walked it my injuries were worse than ever, then it was over £15 every time in a taxi to town because I couldn’t walk it any more.

As above the distance from town. Normally it would not have bothered me but having been Misinformed it was annoying. No reflection on the staff or the facilities

I really liked the look and feel, as well as the fact that it has a restaurant. The rooms were great, size wise and quality

The breakfast was not tasty at all, everything tasted the same. The room I was given had a fire door leading to the next room through which I could hear EVERYTHING the people next door were doing right down to the sound of the shower running and the occupant snoozing his alarm THREE times starting at 5am on my holiday. That is what doesn’t get full stars from me, the fact that I received a room with such poor characteristics.

I liked how friendly the staff were. The downstairs area was perfect! The size of the room was great!

I didn’t feel as though the room or the shower was very clean there was crusty stuff on the curtains and chair and the bathroom had grey stains all over the bottom of the shower. I felt as though the breakfast was very expensive, we were only looking for a bacon sandwich etc but were told regardless of what we wanted to eat we had to pay £12.50 for the bottomless breakfast though we didn’t want much. We ended up having to drive elsewhere to eat which is a shame.

Location was excellent for my purposes. Large car park attached, which is very convenient. Helpful staff.

Shared reception with the gym/spa facilities, which is open to the public (with membership). The restaurant is not appealing visually, and food's not great either. And I really dislike the insistence on getting the app! I may never stay here again if the events I was attending take place at a different venue in the future. I have no wish to install an app for something that transient.

Having read numerous negative reviews on this hotel, we were unsure what to expect. However we needn’t have worried- the staff were all friendly and efficient. The room was amazingly comfortable and was refreshed daily with clean towels every day. The location was great- a efficient. The location was great with regular buses from just outside the property to the city centre or, if like us, you like walking, you could walk to the city centre in about 50 minutes.

No glasses in rooms, carpets could do with cleaning.

Our room and bathroom were very spacious. Beds were comfortable

Despite it stating on Booking that we would pay at the property, when we arrived they informed us that they had already charged us the day before using the credit card we used to hold the booking. We didn't actually want to use that one to pay with so had to pay again then wait for a refund on the other card. This incorrect information could be a problem for some. Not enough plug sockets. There wasn't one by my bed to have my phone charging by me overnight

The facilities are very nice including the gym and the swimming pool. The room was very comfortable and always clean. The restaurant is also ok. The typical English Breakfast is very good and also for dinner the selection of food is reasonable

the Staff at the reception is not super responsive. I had a problem with the check in (I accidentally paid some extra money) and, after 4 days, the refund process was not even started and still I do not have the money back. An issue can happen and I am not complaining for this, but it should be resolved as soon as possible.

clean, central. the staff were amazing and very friendly particularly the girls on reception.

no cups in the bathroom, no shower caps, only one charging point on 1 side of bed, shortage of mirrors and lights for doing make up. you can’t book breakfast at reception you have to book it on an app. I have an egg allergy and there was only really the option of steak and 1 pudding which is ridiculous. not really worth the money. over £700 for 4 nights.

We travelled to Edinburgh for a trip to the Zoo with our 2 daughters (2 and 6) Location wasn't far from Edinburgh city centre or the zoo. Check in was super easy by app or at the desk. Room was lovely and clean with 2 double beds which was excellent. Shower was amazing! Free access to the swimming pool, we were given a card with times for when children could use the pool which was perfect timing for us. The pool and spa facilities were brilliant and super clean. We ate our evening meal in the bar/grill. Good choice of food. Reasonably priced. Kids menu was great.

Pool, gym and all the staff were great. Handy having a Starbucks on site too. Good car parking facilities, easy to get to, and go into city centre attractions from the hotel.

The food was pretty basic in restaurant. Disappointed with room slightly as no fridge, furniture a bit shabby and found some falsh eyelashes in bathroom when we arrived which doesn't give me confidence in the cleaning staff. Beds were not the most comfortable and bad signal on t.v .
