A real gem of a property this is a very quaint building. The room we stayed in was well appointed with a large en-suite bathroom. The room was very comfortable and was well equipped with tea and coffee making with a good selection of drinks, there was also a well stocked mini bar. The bar area is small and quirky and the staff are very welcoming. Breakfast was excellent with lovely fresh fruit salad and a good English breakfast. We ate in the dining room one evening and the food was exceptional and very reasonably priced. I had the beer battered hake and it was the best fish I had during the stay.

The bedroom was snug but comfortable.

We thoroughly loved our 3 nights stay at the Ship in Dock Inn. Our room although small was very comfortable. There was a fully stocked bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities. Great shower and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast had a number of choices. We loved the fresh fruit and yoghurt to start with. We had a great dinner in the restaurant also which was very tasty. I particularly loved the fish and chips! My husband had the chicken tikka and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jude, Peter and the team were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay a great one. We thoroughly recommend this establishment! Just a few minutes walk into the heart of Dartmouth.

There wasn't anything that we didn't like

Perfect location for Dartmouth. Right at the Dart with lovely views from the room at the river. A 5-minutes walk to the centre and its restaurants and shops. Looking back and knowing the town a little bit, I would say, I would book it defintely again, when in town. Hosts are terrific and caring, the rooms are decorated and equipped with lots of love for details, I found even a little toothbrush in the drawers. Theres also a mini-frifge in the room and some snacks for free. Breakfast is a typical english one. There`s a pub downstairs, but it is not always open and closes early (9pm), so no guest has to worry about noises. For a later arrival dinner (8.30) I went to the Floating Bridge, a really nice pub, 3 minutes away, which has longer opening times. As I day trip in Dartmouth I would recommend a 2-3 hours walk along the river Dart, beginning close to the railway station, and running along the tracks the first 20 minutes, to Agathy Christys former residence "Greenway House", cross with the ferry to Dittisham, enjoy a drink, a pizza in the lovely pub "FBI" there, with views on the river (awesome funny staff!) and ride back with a cruise to Dartmouth in the late afternoon. A lot of reviews focuses on parking. The Ship In is offering a free parking permit, which is awsome, but the challenge is though, you still have to find a free spot on the public parking spaces, only five walking minutes away from the hotel. I followed the advice of the hotel, to arrive a little bit later, at a time of a day, when the day tourists have left town. Best after 5pm. Perfect advice! I arrived a little bit later, at 8pm on a sunday in June there were loads of free spaces, I was very relieved.

Our check in was great, very nice and friendly, chatty and informative on arrival. Breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had. The view was lovely from our room. The outside area was nice and quiet in the evenings. Very comfortable and warm. Comfy bed and lovely big towels. Fab shower.

There was a noise from the heating boiler/pump that we could hear all night in our bedroom. It was a bit disturbing but probably nothing that could be done when cold and the heating needed for guests. A real shame as this did keep us awake hence we had disturbed sleeps off and on.

We stayed for two days and loved the cozy interior design, cleanliness, and spaciousness of the room. The facilities were complete, including a hairdryer, coffee make, refrigerator, bath... The host was incredibly helpful, and the downstairs bar offered a great selection of drinks. The breakfast was excellent, and the location was convenient with many nearby shops and a beautiful harbor view. It was great value for money, and we would definitely recommend this accommodation to friends. Overall, it was an impeccable stay.

superb. lovely location, central but on the edge of town so nice and quiet, able to park right outside. the place is spotlessly clean. the room is really comfortable with everything you could possibly need. tea and coffee making facilities, a mini bar, fluffy towels and a great powerful shower. Breakfast was delicious. lovely fresh fruit and the cooked breakfast I would give 10/10. excellent farm bacon, perfect poached eggs, it’s making me hungry thinking about it. the staff are lovely, unfortunately we stated on a night when the pub was shut so we didn’t get to enjoy the ambience of an evening there. exceptional value! thank you for a lovely stay.

we loved everything.

It was well appointed, very clean and loved the location. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was superb. The staff were excellent, especially the lady at breakfast-sorry I didn’t get her name.

I appreciate it is a very old building but I felt that Room 1 was small and difficult to move around in. The only place to store our bags was under the bed. It didn’t spoil our stay though. Didn’t get to see the other three rooms so can’t comment on them.

Location so close to the river, green park and centre of town, enabling easy walking on the flat, wonderful view from our room, very helpful and prompt staff.Excellent standard of cleanliness everywhere. Charming decorative style, ambience, very comfy room and super ensuite bathroom. No noise from public bar, which closed early. Parking permit.

For us, the breakfast times were not flexible enough when we had to be out and about by a certain time. By the time we had arranged our day trip, which we did as soon as we had got our bearings on our day of arrival, we were unable to sit down for breakfast. Why could we not have sat in the bar? The stairs are in keeping with the building, but are very steep.

Very handy for local shops, restaurants and ferries. Beautifully furnished and really well equipped room. Breakfast and evening meal delicious. Helpful and friendly staff. Parking permit was invaluable with the car park a few minutes' walk away. Best B&B room we have ever been in.

Could have done with slightly brighter bedroom lighting as our elderly eyes struggled to read once the curtains were closed! Not to do with the room but visitors be aware that most restaurants in Dartmouth close on Sunday evenings and on Mondays during the winter.

The Ship in Dock Inn is an absolute gem, Jude and the team do everything they can to ensure your stay is memorable, the inn is quirky & full of character, with lots of characters, it’s decorated to a high standard in a maritime theme, spotlessly clean, wonderful views of the river, can’t imagine there’s a better breakfast in Dartmouth. Corporate its not, friendly & welcoming it most certainly is!!

Nothing at all.
