Afton Hotel

The location is great for both the beach, pier and town centre. My single room was spacious enough with a large bathroom with good shower water pressure. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming and housekeeping was done to a very high standard. Yes the property may appear a little the worse for wear but it is an old building close to the seafront so why complain?

Only two tiny things- No hand towels or bath mats are provided unless you request a small towel at reception- not sure why?? And my room curtain could have been better as it didn’t cover the whole window.

The hotel was comfortable and clean, staff were courteous and helpful we didn’t eat in the hotel overall a pleasant stay.

The hotel showed disabled access, this only applied inside the premises the outside was accessible only by steps at either entrance. This meant my wife getting out of the wheelchair to climb the steps which was difficult and embarrassing for her. Inside the hotel the access to the room was very narrow meaning once again my wife had to get out of the wheelchair to go into the room. Our room could have done with the provision of at least a decent fan as the room was extremely hot from early morning to late evening.

Parking is a nightmare in trying to find a space, no breakfast available at the weekends No WiFi available in any of the rooms, only available downstairs in the lounge area

Location and ease to get to our rooms - politeness of staff at all times was top and management being on-site was nice to see a familiar face too! We will be coming back :-)

We called for breakfast time but was told it was availalbe only for big events like last week's airshow - that was disappointing because it does say about breakfast on the website and, not specific to events. Neither was WIFI availalble in any of our rooms which was disappointing but we were promised there woudl be a booster in the hotel for WIFI all around for our next stay in a couple of months so looking forward to that :-)

Location was perfect. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Beach and shops nearby. Alot of entertainment on pier across the road.

Great location very near the pier and the high street/restaurants etc. we booked a twin room and were upgraded to a family room. Beds are very comfortable and room nice, much better than I expected for the price. Hotel has a lift, plus a bar, Wi-Fi only in the bar area and not in rooms. Bar area is big and looks like have entertainment in the summer. Very friendly staff. All in all, a good two star hotel and room cleaned everyday for us, coffee replenished etc, very good value.

Would have liked Wi-Fi in the room but it’s an old building so might not be possible.

No allocated spaces for parking on the street although we found free space fairly quickly

Didn't realise wifi only in main areas... to be fair they don't claim to have WiFi in rooms but i guess we made assumption that it's a given nowadays. On checking website after arrival we realised it didn't state free WiFi in rooms but equally wasn't clear there wasn't! Not a deal breaker, especially with big mobile data packages now but just something to be aware of if it matters. Cannot fault this hotel for value for money and location

We really enjoyed our stay at the Afton Hotel. The team were great and helped us out very generously with whatever we wanted. The location is absolutely superb, with views of the pier and sea. The rooms have period charm and are kept in good condition. Overall, a great stay - thank you!

One thing that perhaps should be made clearer is that the only medium-term (i.e. more than two hours) parking at the hotel is the multi-storey car park five minutes' walk away.
