The food, both breakfast and dinner. Lots of choice and served nicely. Overall the bar area was nice and welcoming, although a television would have been nice to watch the news or the football. Bedroom was nice, clean and plenty big enough.

Mess up with room. Having discovered prior to going that the lift didn't go up to the bedrooms on 2nd floor, I made sure our room was on the 1st floor. However when we arrived the room allocated was a double not a twin as requested. The hotel was very busy so no option to change room. However, after help we decided to have a go at the stairs. It was hard and painful but managed, it did mean we had to manage stairs with for the 4 nights we were there, this did cause some pain.

The Royal Hotel is in the centre of Forfar with ample off-street parking at the rear. All staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was clean and generous. There is a swimming pool in the Hotel's fitness centre which has steps into the water for easy access. The room was clean and quiet.

We were there on one of the hottest days and the room didn't have Air Conditioning. Thankfully the staff were able to provide a fan. Unfortunately some local youths did make some noise late at night, but they are distant from the rooms, se we could ignore them.

Staff were friendly polite and helpful.breakfasts were good freshly cooked and served hot.enjoyed.Had meal in Bistro one night which was tasty.no complaints at all.Enjoyed our stay in Forfar.

First night the nightclub in full swing from10.30 until 2a.m.could not sleep.told the reception staff and we were given another room where we had peaceful night.so dont book this room on a Friday or Saturday as those are the days nightclub is open.staff were very good.Rest of time was nice and quiet.

Staff friendliness and making us feel at home. Donna was on reception and understood the challenges we faced travelling from London and having previous accomodation booked last minute. Donna was patient and took her time to help plan our holiday. Barmaid on evening was also really fun and accommodated us in exciting cocktails. The ladies who cleaned our rooms were fantastic and couldn't do more to help us. The parrot was the kids biggest hit and over all food and decor and facilities was more than value for money. Thank you for turning a holiday that was challenging to one of the best x

Excellent central location, private car park at rear of hotel. Delighted with our large double room front of hotel. Clean & comfortable accommodation. Breakfast included in price, choice of vegetarian or full Scottish breakfast. Also enjoyed an evening meal in the hotel. Friendly , helpful staff. Enjoyed our short stay, would recommend this hotel for location, cleanliness, value.

Lift to reception area, steep stairs to upper bedrooms not so easy for anyone with walking difficulties. Breakfast from 7am till 9 am, would have preferred later breakfast time.

The location was great for reaching Glamis Castle. The adjoining rooms were nice and spacious. Breakfast was pleasant.

One of the regular staff members was a bit rude and gruff. People in our party were afraid to ask her anything as she was not friendly at all. The bartender Mo was excellent and a gem of a talker and helpful with local information

Nice clean comfy room, good shower, nice warm swimming pool, good breakfast, good location to visit the region. Walking distance to facilities and good choice of restaurants in town, and to pretty Forfar Loch. Bonus points: real mugs for tea instead of the typical tiny cups in the room!

Fire alarm at 23:00, although not really the hotel's fault! The entrance via the parking at the back is a bit "odd", but not a problem at all, and it's good to have a dedicated parking.

Good atmosphere and friendly staff. No complaints there.

Quite often find the fans in the toilet/ shower room don' t work and room takes while to de- steam. Cistern in toilet was on a go slow and took ages to fill. Did report it and was told couldn't be fixed till morning. Offered another room but stayed in this room. Maybe daily maintenance check on fans, toilets etc as not every guest will report a defect.

Donna, Ian & all the staff couldnt have done any more for me-i only intended to stay for a weekend & becuse of their faultless hospitality, fantastic service ( it felt like home !) I ended up staying for 9days. The foods amazing & the bar never seems to close! Im booked to go back !

The fact i couldnt stay longer!

Everything was great about my stay. Very nice hotel with great food and bar. The room was spacious and clean. Very attentive staff and fantastic off street parking. Will be returning here next year without any doubt.

There wasn't a single thing I could say that's negative about this hotel.
