·The room and furnishings were on the rustic side, but everything was spotlessly clean. We were comfortable and happy. Three things in particular made this a great stay for us: 1) An absolutely enormous and delicious breakfast! You make your selections the night before, and let me tell you… you will NOT leave hungry. 2) We found our hostess to be very sweet and good natured. She was helpful and communicative, reaching out via WhatsApp to give us check in information, dining options, etc. I am used to having to reach out myself for info, but she made it easy for us. 3) We stayed at this place at the halfway point in our trip, and we fully expected to have to waste half a day finding a laundromat to clean our clothes. We mentioned this to her, and she offered to handle our laundry for only £10 per load— wash, dry, and fold. We would’ve paid more at a laundromat AND wasted precious time. Her helpfulness ended up being a huge help on our trip— it put us half a day ahead with our sightseeing schedule, and as a result, we made the most of the sunny weather. We literally were able to do an entire additional hike because of this one thing. Anyway, yep, great property. Excellent food, comfortable, nice people.

Room was clean and tidy and had everything i needed. I wasn't able to have an evening meal because of my timings, but the menu looked great and was well priced. Tain locals have told me that the evening meals are very good - Shame for me! Breakfast was amazing, ordered the night before, high quality, and I couldn't finish it all.

Sound insulation wasn't great, was woken up early by guests who were up before me!

Heather was the most amazing host and went out of her way for us. Despite this hotel going through being sold, our stay was comfortable. There was no availability for breakfast but again Heather provided breakfast to go which was plentiful! We only used the room which was clean and sufficient.

It couldn't be helped but would have lived to see thus in its full glory as it was a lovely place!

Everything was great! Derek and Heather were excellent hosts and tried to look after all our needs (like removing a very large spider) from the room. Room was warm and cosy, but for us, just a little small. The dinner meal was outstanding and worthy of 5 star rating!!

Wish the room was a little bigger, but the luxurious big, big bed took up all the room. We get that!! Very windy night....I don't think their efforts were successful at improving it upon our request!! :)

Think of an American Motel as seen in the movies and you'll get an idea of the style of this establishment. It was very comfortable and only a 20 minute walk into the town with its amenities. Only a minute off the A9 by car. Large Tesco in the town with a petrol station.

The cooked side of the breakfast was well cooked but the vegetarian/vegan I had, was a fry up without the meat. The portions were the same ,just missing the meat. Not much choice. Cooked only. No cereal or continental was offered.

Very clean and comfortable. Nice huge bed and lovely thick towels nice big bathroom. Heather was lovely. Food great, breakfast was pre ordered, so not an overwhelming amount of food to choose from, which is a good thing. Really enjoyed my perfect boiled eggs!

Nothing really. If I was being picky the area was a bit more residential than I'd like and the town was very quiet but its supposed to be a relaxing break so not really a negative!

On arrival Heather was lovely and explained everything. The ownership is changing so the restaurant was closed due to refurb. Heather had advised and suggested 2 places to eat. We chose Platform 1864 which Heather kindly reserved a table for us. It was a lovely place to eat. The accommodation was nice for our stay.

Visited after reading reviews about the food and welcome..so glad we did . Welcome was fantastic and food was excellent. Wasn't sure about pre orders but when explained the reasons we were happy to go along . Dinner was delicious really good produce cooked perfectly and the same again for breakfast. Wonderful value for money and everything you could need.

Location is a bit off the beaten track but so glad we used booking.com and found this little gem .

So the hotel is slightly on the tired side, but it is clean and comfortable. The staff are lovely. But the main reason for writing a review - the food!!! Oh my, it was the best meal i have in Scotland in a long time. This place will most certainly be added to my list of places to stay when away for work.

I didnt dislike anything, if anything the bathroom could do with a lick of paint.

This is the second time we have stayed at Carnegie Lodge Hotel, and this time was equally as good as the first. Our room had a large comfy bed, with all the amenities you need. Lovely bathroom with good shower. Our hosts were very welcoming and treat you like an old friend. This place has amazing food, you will not leave hungry. 10/10.

Nothing not to like.
