A well run hotel with relaxing atmosphere, sociable & very pleasant staff only too willing to make our stay enjoyable. Clean bedroom & surroundings with a lovely fresh smell as you enter the hotel. Very good restaurant with well priced meals. Tasty cooked breakfast to start the day & served until late morning, no rush. Edinburgh is within easy access with a regular bus route running just outside the hotel. There's plenty of parking area with digital security registration.

A more open view would have been nice, but having a bedroom not facing the main street it was very quiet. An easy chair was needed in the room for more comfort.

Location, very handy with good bus services right outside the door, The place was very clean, and the staff helpful.Lovely room with a nice shower, comfy bed, and very roomy. The breakfast has a large number of choices and a bit overcooked for me was fantastic. Free car parking also a bonus. A great local pub down the road near the theatre,(1bus stop) called Staggs,(the Volunteer Arms), real ale and friendly locals. Also near the pub a Gurkah restaurant which is highly recommended

The bar prices £9.30 for a pint of craft IPA and a coke, If cheaper I believe it would be more popular as it was only had one drink there in 3 nights. But everything else was great.

We were transiting Edinburgh for a day in December. Hotel Ravelston located in Musselburgh (25 mins by bus from Edinburgh Waverly) is an amazing family owned hotel & pub with an amazing restaurant that provides an exceptional breakfast. The deluxe double room was more than comfortable and spacious provided with nice coffee and tea. As we were there for just a day, the transit to Musselburgh was the only hectic task. The check-in took some time due to shortage of staff and new year preparation. Once we were checked-in, it was a pampered experience.

Nothing critical about the hotel. We did feel that the water temperature in the bathroom was too hot even though there was a mixer tap. At times, it could get too hot that we can make tea with it. :D I will advise caution while using the water in the bathroom for the first time.

Great location both because it is only a street away from the coast and also close enough to Edinburgh! Beautiful rooms and bathroom! Would certainly come again!

Nothing too bad, but a few "beauty errors" as we would say in Dutch: we did not have shower gel, but had two shampoos, whereas my dad in the other room, had the opposite. But we could switch. :-) A towel of the former occupants was left on the back of the bathroom door and we missed a spare toilet roll (ours was small and finished during our stay). I felt our bed was not comfortable, the springs seemed old or something. My dad's bed however was great! So just advice to take a look at this please.

We had the family room which was extremely spacious and comfortable with a lovely en suite shower room.

The music in the bar was far too loud. Then everyone ends up shouting making the overall noise level far from relaxing. Staff good but often had to wait to hand in or collect our room key.

Whole place was very clean, with everything you need for a stay in Edinburgh. Great Scottish breakfast with a big choice if you wanted something different. Homemade cakes looked delicious! Plenty of restaurant's outside if you wanted to try somewhere else for dinner.

Bed was a little uncomfortable with flat pillows. Noise from party downstairs was very loud, but that stopped at 11.30pm.

A hidden pearl in Musselburgh! This well-run small hotel is exceptional value for money. The guest is met with a kindly Scots welcome , a clean comfortable room, free parking (at a premium in the vicinity of Edinburgh) topped off by a first class full Scots breakfast with square sausage and haggis! Also well placed for striking into Edinburgh and exploring the coastline. Thank you Ravelston for first class treatment!

No complaints!

room was immaculate and not too "corporate styled" - whilst having all the facilities I needed/ expected. clever use of an in-go in front of the wardrobe to have the full length mirror. breakfast was well-cooked and well-presented, with plenty of choice/ amendments easily made - and the whole package excellent value for money. although looking out over the kitchen ventilation system, there were no cooking smells and the noise of the vents stopped at a reasonable hour. I also dined there with an elderly relative - and the meal was lovely, with very supportive and understanding staff- thank you all.

breakfast was cooked to order, hot and tasty. second morning there was a choice of cereal and fruit as well as help yourself to coffee. Don't know why this choice wasn't there on the first morning but it wasn't a problem. Room was very clean and comfortable with a good shower. Tea and coffee in room Had a bar meal on one night which was lovely. Excellent bus service into Edinburgh - £1.80 single adult - brilliant!!

Nothing to dislike. Only downside was that our room was next to the extractor fans from the kitchen which made it noisy. less noisy when window was closed.

Excellent service and breakfast

There was no hot water in our room for washing, shaving or taking a shower. We were staying for a 30th Birthday party that required formal dress so was disappointed that we had to take freezing cold shower. Stayed for 3 nights and only had hot water on the last morning of our stay. Having hot water is a basic requirement/expectation for staying in a hotel
