We don't look for a large room. We look for a clean place to sleep with a spotless bathroom. That's what we got, and not to speak of the view of the coast, cliffs, etc. I'm a golfer, and although I didn't play golf, you could walk to the coast side course. When the tide went out, there was about 200 yards of beach to walk. Food was buffet and excellent.

Really, there was nothing we didn't like. There was a wedding there, and they saw fit to put us on the upper 4th floor away from the crowd. Downtown for old churches and buildings to see was about a 1/2 mile.

Nice old hotel almost on the sea front. We had a fantastic room with a good view over St.Bees Bay. Room was decorated with modern decor to a good standard. The Bathroom was immaculate, with a really good shower. Plenty of free to use toiletries. My wife rates an hotel by the softness of the provided towels (LOL). No problem here, lovely and soft and plenty of them. Bit cool in room when arrived, turned the radiator on, and the room very quickly warmed up.. So yeah, great quick overnighter for us. Read the reviews on here about staff being unfriendly. Complete opposite to what I found. Had a great conversation with the lady on check in. Also decided to eat and have a couple of drinks in the restaurant. The staff in there were very accommodating and friendly. P.S. If the Grilled Pork Chop and Bubble and Squeek is still on the menu when you arrive when you get there, try it. It's fantastic. Just what you need after a cold walk down the beach. It really needs to be added to the main menu.

Absolutely nothing. Really great for us. Quick overnight stay, but made very welcome.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel. We booked a twin room and ended up with a sea view which was amazing, very thankful for that. The room was clean, the shower was powerful and great. The staff were amazing and super friendly. I can't recommend this place enough, I already want to come back and I only left yesterday! It's right on the beach too with a stunning walk just on the doorstep.

There's nothing I didn't like. I will say though, if you can't sleep through noise request a room away from the bar. Our room was right above the bar toilets so we heard everyone and the hand dryers. It all ended by 11/11:30pm though. It wasn't a complaint at all for us because we can sleep through it, especially after a hike! But ask for a quiet room if you can't cope.

Would be good to have come continental choices. Otherwise only catering for UK breakfast wishes. Just spent two weeks travelling through Europe and had plenty of Hotel breakfasts. The UK should be leading here for European-wide guests. Previously on a separate stay I had met a couple from Swizerland who were also staying at Seacote Hotel. The area draws clients beyond the British shores. They expect us to be on par with their other experiences, or better.

Mounted Television on a wall bracket should now be standard in bedrooms. It makes placing the head down on the pillow and having a relaxed pre-sleep news night far more comfortable even if guests should just use the bedroom for sleeping.

We were welcomed at Reception. The Hotel was clean and spacious. The Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was very good. I enjoyed beef lasagne, which was delicious and my husband enjoyed the fish which was a large lightly battered and fresh. Both well presented served with chips and side. Lovely lounge area for relaxing. Good atmosphere in Bar, friendly staff, plenty of tables for socialising. In the room the view of the sea front was delightful. The linens were spotlessly clean, however beds were the old spring type may need to be updated. Convenient walk-in shower, modern facilities. Free toiletries.

TV remote didn't work properly.

Had a great stay , despite a bit of a travel issue we ended up not getting to the hotel til 0100ish the staff were nothing but accommodating to this. The location was amazing right off a beach and I had a view of the sea also various places to walk right out of the hotel. The hotel is aged but I think it adds to character and sets it away from big chains. It was clean and tidy everywhere I went which is all you hope for when staying places. Food in the resurant was nice homemade meals and just the perfect size. Staff were friendly and chatty.

Very comfortable room, impeccable cleanliness. I expressed a preference for a room where I could see the sea, and I had a most wonderful view of it. All the staff were welcoming and accommodated any requests. Housekeeping did a great job making sure my room was cleaned and well stocked. Friendly atmosphere in the bar with local people mingling well with the guests. The location of this hotel is second to none if you are looking for a quiet getaway next to the sea. This is a family run hotel with a lot of character. I've been here before, and I will return again.

The room we had was absolutely amazing, it was like having our own apartment. So comfortable, we had sofas, internet access, large tv with Freeview. The bathroom was huge. Biscuits, tea and coffee facilities, very pet friendly too.

The restaurant was very dated, very different from the exceptional room we stayed in. It was like staying in the present but dining in the 80's. Dated décor, dated menus and dated service (sorry)! Staff were chatting behind the bar area, not attending to customers. I didn't bother going to the bar as the staff were just in a group chatting. No table service for drinks or enquiring if the food was good. We went to the next village to buy some wine for the evening to drink in our room.

Hotel was great and the room had sea views from both windows which was a bonus

Hotel was great but the bar side was a bit disappointing. I can understand the bar being dog friendly but some dog owners are unbelievable. They think it's ok for the dogs to sit on seats even though they may be wet and dirty. I also saw one dog owner letting the dog eat scrap's off the table!! Feet should remain on the floor and that applies to two and four footed animals.

Light airy and good-sized room; quite a nice view on the 1st floor. Great selection of choices for breakfast; mixture of self-service and table service, good quality, and very prompt table service.

My room was right above the main bar, this was fine, except for the Friday night stay, which had a live band and was very loud. This would ordinarily be fine if I was partaking in the bar; thankfully, the music finished not too late.
