It was my first time coming to Cumbria and it was really lovely to stay here! Beautiful rooms, cozy, warm. Downstairs area with fireplace in particular beautiful! All staff mega helpful and went above and beyond when I was staying! And hotels dog even cuter! Little chunky boy ahha. Food for dinner was amazing! Great and generous portion sizes! P.s. that crispy salt and pepper chicken was unreal! No idea how you make it so soft but omg!

Everything was amazing!

The last of three hotels we booked over a long weekend, all wonderfully tucked away and special. I booked here mostly for the location and the on-site EV chargers, however the hotel itself was a huge bonus. Our room was in the 13th century "turret" up two flights of spiral stairs (other rooms were available, but why would you when you have a chance for a room like this!) it was wonderful! It was reasonably large with a settee, TV, plenty of room, ensuite and all mod cons, but low beams across the middle. LOTS of personality and comfort, what more can you ask for?! Photo doesn't do it justice, but I didn't take a better one!

The spiral staircase was a surprise and not for everyone, but they had other rooms, so therefore not a dislike, but it would be wise to mention any physical limitations when booking.

We stayed for 3 nights over the bank holiday, great breakfasts, had an evening meal which was also great and reasonably priced. Had flowers arranged to be in the room as a surprise. Lovely big room with great views. Staff very helpful and positive. Great location for coastal walk or local train for further afield. We walked to St Bees and got the train back.

A slightly larger bathroom to include a bath would have been great, we had a shower room.

The transformation of this hotel is truly remarkable, and it can be solely attributed to the recent change in ownership. They assumed control just six weeks ago, but the transformation since my last visit has been nothing short of astonishing. There was a real sense of excitement and enthusiasm among all the staff, along with a genuine warmth and friendliness. I don't mean to criticise my previous stay, but this recent experience was profoundly different, and in a very positive way. The next time I find myself in West Cumbria, typically for work purposes, I will exclusively choose to stay at this hotel and won't consider any other options. Even for weekend getaways, I'll only make the trip if they have availability, as I'm now much more inclined to explore the area for a leisure break.

We had lovely weekend break and the weather was kind, not a lot of sunshine but it was warm and didn't stop us getting our and about

Only worry I had was, as you can see from photo was the winding stone stairs, not so good if you have mobility problems or a little on the older side 😉 like me. Was offered to see if they could change, but only there for weekend so I managed. On the whole it was brilliant, food and staff were wonderful. Would recommend it.

The history of the property was fascinating. It was amazing staying in a slice of it. The staff were so welcoming. They all made us feel at home and could not be any more attentive. The food was good quality and had good portion sizes. Our dog was made very welcome which also put us at ease. The room had a four poster bed which added to the historical drama and was extremely comfy. The room was serviced and well looked after each day with fresh towels, coffee, biscuits, etc. The new owners have done a great job with all the new furnishings, creating character and warmth. The fact that the sea was also so close, seen out of most windows, was an extra bonus. St Bees beech was perfect for walking the dog and watching the sun go down. A visit to Whitehaven just added to our recommendations. A pretty, unspoilt harbour with friendly locals and bars. We highly recommend Moresby Hall and surrounding area. Lastly, we want to add that it is a great base for visiting the Lakes, only a drive away from the hall. All round, excellent value for money and a super place to stay.

It was handy for the reason I was making my trip. The staff were friendly without being intrusive. I ate in the restaurant where the food was good and served in a timely manner. Breakfast was also good. I also liked that they had a charger to recharge my car overnight the fee was reasonable when compared to public chargers.

I only have one issue which is more a personal preference, I found the mattress to be on the soft side. Which can cause me an issue with my back. Other than that I have no issues.

Breakfast was excellent. Cooked to order. Scrambled eggs and bacon cooked perfectly. Times were very flexible and the service was friendly and swift. The menu is limited for evening meals but of an excellent standard.

The shower could be upgraded. Information on parking could have been provided beforehand and signage could be improved. The room was a bit warm for me so a temperature control would help

The hotel is very unique. From outside it looks very outdated but inside is the exact opposite. It is being refurbished but most of it is complete. The communal areas have lovely furnishings with unusual decor. The rooms are old but have clean furnishings. The layout is quirky, stone staircases etc

The entrance is very tight but apparently you can use the deliveries entrance which has more room.

This hotel was excellent! Have already recommended to friends. It's a beautiful place with wonderful staff. The breakfast was excellent! Loved the stone spiral staircase which led up to our room. The bedroom was lovely with old wooden beams. We really enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed another night! Beautiful gardens too. Thank you!
