Bluebird Inn

We enjoyed the size of the bed and the beautiful common room in the historical building. The location was also excellent and we were able to walk to local restaurants and stores. The check-in staff was very nice and accommodating, and they even provided coffee, tea, and granola bars in the morning despite not advertising breakfast. The check-in staff also provided excellent restaurant recommendations, which was very appreciated!

I was awoken on our second night at 6:30 am by the people above us walking around on floors that squeaked loudly. The water also had a chemical taste, and we were told there was no other place where we could fill water bottles. Though we are not handicapped, we were placed in the handicap accessible room which did not have a bathtub and the shower splashed all over the bathroom. The shower curtain probably should be longer.

We’ve stayed at the Bluebird Inn many times. The location is perfect. One is able to walk around the village with it’s many restaurants & shops. Moonstone Beach is 5 minutes away. Since we were last there, the boardwalk along the ocean has been rebuilt. It’s a walk for everyone. Even saw a wheelchair ramp for those who require one. Will always return to this very comfortable inn.

Only one snafu upon arriving. Our drive to Cambria takes 5.5 hours. We try our best to arrive by their check in time. Unfortunately, we arrived 30 minutes too early. The guest check in person informed my husband of this fact & would not check us in. We’ve never been told to basically go away until 4:00. Not what we really wanted to do after a very long drive.

The location is great, easily walkable to shopping and restaurants. The price is good too, good value for such a nice location. We enjoyed the fire pit, also the extra touches like the tables and chairs on the patio, and the delightful paintings on the buildings.

My husband and I were traveling with his 99 year old mother. so we requested 2 downstairs rooms , close together. When we arrived, we were told that someone else (who had not requested it earlier) asked for a downstairs room My mother in law did have the downstairs room as requested ( room 25) but we were in room 14, across the property and upstairs. We would have preferred to be closer to her.

The location was excellent and walking distance of downtown restaurants and shops. The room was large and roomy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Although the Inn has been around for many years, it is clean and up to date.

The electronic door keys were finicky. We had to have our keys reprogrammed twice. A minor inconvenience was that the sink water faucets were reversed. What is normally the hot water on the left was cold water and what was normally cold water on the right was hot water.

The property was right on Main St., in walking distance to everything we needed: breakfast, dinner, a great organic market and lots of little stores and antiques shops. The room was very comfortable and parking was right in front. The bathroom and water pressure were great, too. Free tea in the lobby was great, especially late in the evening when other places were closed already. It was very close to Route 46, so we were able to visit the wineries and Paso Robles, easily.

The room was comfortable and nicely sized. We appreciated the hooks for hanging bags along the wall. We thought the road noise might be a problem, but it wasn't. Even though the motel was full, we weren't disturbed by any noise from other guests. Easy walk into town for dining, and perfect location for visiting Hearst Castle.

The front desk attendant had no idea what I was asking about when I inquired about the walking path entrance to the Santa Rosa Creek trail to the Fiscalini Preserve, and it was literally right next door to the motel. We discovered a frog in our ice bucket, it must have been hanging out on the machine when we got ice the night before! We relocated the little critter back to the yard.

Easy to get the room, clean, simple but not broken interior, the location pretty close to center of town with restaurant and bakery for breakfast, also the fact that although the walls are thin, people are cautious and don't make noise. The beds are comfortable and sheets perfectly clean. The shower is quite nice, much better then expected

Thin walls, but then again people are very cautious not to make noise. Not enough attention paid to make the room dark enough, but some people may consider this very fine, I'm easily bothered by lights. There were effective blinds, but they are closed tolights surrounding the rooms, so there isn't much to do. Also the smoke detector displayed a small light.

The queen bedroom with bathroom was clean. Bed was comfortable, and hot water shower was great, and there was a quiet ceiling fan over the bed which provided air circulation while we slept. Location was conveniently walkable to stores, restaurants, and a great walking trail through the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve to Moonstone Beach.

There was no air conditioning, and it was 84 degrees on the day we arrived. Luckily the temperature lowered during the subsequent days of our stay, and the room had back and front windows windows which could be opened to obtain cross-ventilation.

We were visiting Hearst Castle and didn’t like the San Simeon options. This hotel was only five minutes farther away and it was in a really nice town. Great room for budget price. it was very basic but it was comfortable, clean and a few blocks from the main shopping area in Cambria. We had room to spread out our luggage and it had a microwave and fridge.

You could hear every step and sound in the room above us and next to us. A few mechanical things needed to be fixed.

The location is great, right in town. We walked all along Main St to shops and restaurants. There is also an entrance to Fiscalini Ranch (the dog park side) only a few yards away. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean with all the basic accommodations. There are trash and recycling cans throughout the property so we could easily dispose of our food containers and such without smelling up our room. We enjoyed the outdoor community seating around the fire pit and watched the turkeys on the property across the street!

The only "drawback" was that we were in a room on the ground level and we could hear the guests upstairs from us walking around their room.
