The breakfast and location were both great! And the staff were very friendly. The happy hour and cookies were also very nice. The free shuttle was great to have as well. And the location was awesome.

The room was very small and offered no view, no balcony, no elevator, (4th floor), and a bathroom so small that we could only open the door halfway before it was stopped by the sink. There was no welcoming bottle of wine/champagne for our 25th anniversary. There was bottle water in our room but it was $9/bottle! For $850/night, you'd think they could include this.

the grounds, breakfast, the bar and customer service

my husband was limited on walking or climbing stairs, we had a disability access room. bathroom was great but our room was very small and no dresser to unpack or room for his walker. not having a elevator or a ramp he never was able to see the grounds or a better room .. he wasn’t able to leave the 2nd floor

The property was great I have stayed with them in the past staff was always friendly just want to mention this time while checking in the person who was checking us in wasn’t rude but wasn’t helpful either did not point out all the amenities of your beautiful hotel even though I was aware of them it would’ve been nice to been refreshed and we weren’t offered transportation to restaurants in the area

the location is great. A couple blocks from the Center and a couple of blocks from the beach. The room and bathroom were beautiful and the sea views are gorgeous. The garden offers a lot of places to sit and relax and the pool is heated. The shower had really good pressure. The breakfast in the morning is fantastic. Everything was very clean.

Location was excellent. Extremely clean and the building was full of special touches. It was a very welcoming space and very comfortable. The room is small, but consistent with accommodations in Carmel. It created a charming and special environment. Nice and quiet. We are extremely appreciative for the complimentary upgrade to a room with a view of the ocean. It made all the difference! We loved our little room with such a beautiful view. It was very comfortable and the view was spectacular. The buffet breakfast was perfect.

Regarding Breakfast. The first day, no omelets or waffles, it was disappointing. Say. & Sun. were great. Regarding our room. We would have liked 2 smaller scale chairs instead of the one large one. We both wanted to sit and enjoy the view, especially the sunsets. We used the hotel car service, the drivers were wonderful, helpful, and courteous. It would be nice to have a dining room at dinner time. Overall, we do not usually spend the kind of money we spent at La Playa when we visit Carmel. This was a special occasion so we sourced. We visit the area 3 or 4 times a year. We’ll be back for another special stay.

I’m not sure if you have a pet friendly, king bed, with an ocean view, but a few more square feet in our room would have been nice. I would take our room (408) again if a larger one doesn’t exist.

Absolutely loved La Playa ! Really nice, quaint property, with a lot of history. Stayed on top floor with ocean view room, was really nice. Breakfast was pretty good. The bar is amazing, really old school vibe in there. Love the small pool and the grounds are nicely kept. Close proximity to beach and town. Can't wait to go back !!

The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend it to anyone for its location and cleanliness. Will surely return.

The room was always warm/hot. Maybe there was lack of ventilation or the heater was programed to stay on. We had a fan that we kept on with the windows open which helped to some extent but the room was always warm even though outside was foggy and cool.

Hotel Playa Carmel is quintessential California quaint. As we stroll through the town and down to the beach it was obvious there was nowhere else we want to stay in Carmel. The staff was excellent always happy and ready to assist. From beautiful breakfast buffets, coffee/tea service early each am (for east coasters!) to excellent cappuccinos upon request-All included in the hotel cost. Although everything in town is walkable the hotel offers a shuttle service at night for when you want to dress up/drink.

There wasn’t much to not like. The property, like most of the town, is 100 years old. My only complaint would be the bathroom size. Definitely needs a reno.
