Location was wonderful! The room had some very nice amenities which all worked great - microwave, fireplace, jacuzzi tub, bathrobes to name a few. It was very comfortable. The fireplace was so nice to have on our rainy stay. There was also a jacuzzi tub which I didn't expect, but it was sure nice to have. We had a really great time on our stay and I would recommend to others.

A lot of pros about this place - about the only con I might say is the living room was dark (it was how our room was situated - not much natural light in that area) and the furniture was dated and not the most comfortable. This was a pretty small thing when compared to all the other plusses this place offers.

Nice friendly staff, excellent location and restaurants close by. The property really carried the Carmel charm. We took three morning hikes right from the front door of the Inn. Cafe Luna in the Carmel Plaza next door has the best home-made pot stickers (unbelievable!), the best (real) breakfast sandwich (it is huge so my wife and I split), and a super top-quality Ramen. We had five meals at this location in our three-day stay, and we noticed locals there every time we visited. The proximity to Wayside Inn made it "sure thing" for us. For an indulgence, try a donut from Dutch Door Donuts right upstairs from Cafe Luna. Finally, I saw happy faces on others that stayed at the Inn. :)

None really observed. We arrived on a hot day (a rarity for Carmel), so the room took awhile to cool. There are no air conditioners in 99% of the hotels due to proximity to the sea.

We had the downstairs room that was adjacent to the street. Surprisingly very little traffic noise. The galley kitchen and separate lounge were very useful during our stay. The location was exceptional. Right in the heart of Carmel. Shops, restaurants and beach all within easy walking distance.

The courtyard? bedroom had noisy air condition and you could hear people outside banging about at night.

I loved the suite with the separate living room and fireplace. I liked that the fireplace was gas so it was easy to just turn on and off when we wanted to use it. The place was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I liked the table and chairs, it was easy to sit there and eat if we got take out. The location was unbeatable, within easy walking distance of all the restaurants and shops. Parking was included. The lot was small so I can see there maybe being an issue when things are busier, but we had no issue finding a spot. There was music playing on the TV when we checked in, which was a really nice touch.

I didn't like that you had to walk through the bathroom to get from the living room to the bedroom. Also, there was a bit of a smell in the bathroom, but nothing really bad. Just noticeable.

For the price paid, it far exceeded my expectations and the location was great. I was almost discouraged by lukewarm reviews, but they were wrong. It's Carmel, so you pay for the location and it did not disappoint and the rooms were better and cleaner than the B&B I stayed prior to (with better reviews and a higher price). A pleasant surprise (and safe for women traveling alone).

There was some construction in the area before 8 am, but that might be a city thing, so I can't fault the Wayside Inn.

The room is clean and nice, tub is excellent. Extra sitting room is very helpful with little one. So we can put him down to sleep but still enjoy the night. Can comfortably sleep 4 with two sets of bathroom.

Floor was thin, loud upstairs neighbor, probably kids running around til late. Kitchenette is non-exist, mini fridge is almost too hot and freezer section barely keep stuff cold even on full power. Also no microwave.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Wayside Inn. The attention to cleanliness was outstanding. The location excellent! We walked everywhere.

The upholstered furniture and deco pillows could use an update. Also, wished there was some place to sit outside to enjoy coffee or wine. Otherwise, we were completely happy with the Wayside Inn and staff!

LOCATION. It's in the heart of downtown and walking distance to just about everything. I like the layout of the room, it almost has an apartment feel to it due to the bedroom being its own room away from the main area. Everything is also really clean and the bed is comfy!

Kind of a musty smell on bed sheets. It could just be due to the room being a little dated. Shower backed up a little. No a/c but it's ok, windows open and fan provided in room, still slept comfortably underneath covers. Two small designated parking lots that have pretty tight spaces. Thankfuly, each night we arrived back at the hotel, we were lucky and found a spot. If not lucky, there is street parking that's free after 5pm!

The hotel room was comfortable and clean. The room was cozy, with limited space to move around and small shower, but still very comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Excellent location to explore Carmel, as it is in the centre.

You would have to take the stairs to access some of the rooms, which wasn't a problem for us but something to consider for others with mobility issues.

We were in a one-bedroom with kitchen and living room for 3 nites. So nice to have that extra space -- and a fireplace. We had breakfast en suite 2 mornings and enjoyed just hanging out. (no breakfast provided currently, but cookies daily.) All tastefully decorated and very comfortable.

There's a building next door with a generator that runs constantly, so not totally peaceful. With windows closed, no problem, but a bit annoying for sleeping. Kitchen is well supplied except -- no cutting knives. Bath could use another towel rack as well as hooks for robes etc. All small things. We really loved the apt.
