Perfect location for Fisherman’s Wharf with free parking (a rare find in San Fran) Bus stops right outside for downtown/union square. 7-10 minute walk to pier 33 (Alcatraz) and pier 39 where there are lots of restaurants/shops/street entertainment and a great view of Alcatraz and Golden Gate Bridge. Clean hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. Beds extremely comfortable, good powerful shower and the complimentary shower gel/shampoo/conditioner smelt divine ! Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.

Free wifi dropped out a good few times during our stay Decor a little dated, this didn’t put me off and it’s honestly one of the best budget hotels I have stayed in!!

EVERYTHING about our stay at the Columbus Inn was wonderful, especially Tony! (Miss Carol says hi!) The location was perfect for walking to excellent restaurants in North Beach and exploring Chinatown! The hotel is only 4 or 5 blocks from a Hop On Hop Off tour stop, making it very convenient for that purpose. Maybe the biggest perk (besides Tony) was the availability of FREE on-site parking! We were able to park and check in early and also able to store our belongings in a secure room after we checked out (again, thanks to Tony!) so that we could do a little more sight-seeing before having to leave our hearts in San Francisco!

Not a thing!!

Great location to the Wharf, Pier 39/33, Little Italy, and Chinatown. All were 15-20 min walk and is in a safe and clean neighborhood. Absolute plus parking was indoors and included in price of room. Property and room was clean and staff is welcoming and very polite. We were able to leave our car on day of check out up to 3pm which was very much appreciated. Would stay again and recommend!

Only recommendation is to have less decorative pillows and more pillows in which we could use to sleep and newer mattresses. Like that the sink was not in same room as toilet but it needed a hook next to it so you can hang a hand towel without having to go back into the bathroom or leave one laying on the sink.

Location was great!! We walked to Cobb's for a comedy show. We also walked to Piccolo Forno for lunch. There are many Italian restaurants nearby. Pier 39 is not too far away. The guy at the front desk during check-in was friendly and super helpful. He was awesome!! The king bed and pillows were so comfortable. One of the best nights of sleep that I've had at a hotel. Parking was FREE which was a HUGE bonus. I definitely recommend this place and I look forward to staying here again. I was pleasantly surprised and happy with my experience.

Sometimes you could hear public transportation (buses) go by and people honking or yelling (but that's normal for a busy city) so other than that, the place was much better than I had expected from an inn or hotel with a two-star rating.

Searched hard to find affordable accommodation with free car park in San Fran, and Columbus Inn did not disappoint! Excellent location - walkable distance to the wharf area, felt safe. Car park is not gated but is under cover and did feel safe as well - we did take all our belongings out of the car in case, however there were no issues at all. The staff were very warm and helpful. It is an older hotel, however we were pleasantly surprised with how clean everything was! (I am a clean-freak as well). Really nice attention to detail of the little needs - plenty of electric sockets to charge devices at the bedside tables, coffee/tea options, included shower gel & shampoo, vending machine in the hallway. Would definitely stay here again!

The bath tub itself could do with an update however everything was perfectly fine and so comfortable! Very clean!

Big spacious room with comfortable beds. The staff was really nice and we were happy that the hotel has parking. The location is also perfect, with walking distance to many great parts of town. It was a very safe area.

My only complaint is the noise from the street. It was very loud as if the window was open, even though it wasnt. Woke me up a few times.

Location was perfect, we were able to walk to most places. The room was large with a balcony overlooking the street and a glimpse of Alcatraz and it had free parking. Staff were all helpful and friendly. For the price/location you could not go wrong booking this. Highly recommended

If I had to say something it would be that it is slightly dated but for us that did not affect our stay at all and we knew this before we booked and is reflected in the price

Excellent courteous helpful staff, most of the time we get to check in early and keep our car in covered parking before and after as needed; spacious room with glass drinking cups and mugs; location very convenient to our son and family in North Beach. It's our dependable go-to lodging when in the City. And Pat's Cafe nearby is reliably good for breakfast.

No microwave or fridge in room but with so many nice restaurants in the neighborhood, we can adapt. Be aware of traffic noise in this popular part of the city. We get used to it.

I've stayed here 4-5 times over the last few years and love it. Good sized rooms, very clean and well designed. Small balcony, and good bathrooms. Quieter at night than one might imagine. Close to many sites as well as food and beverages. 15 minute on foot either way up Columbus and you're in prime neighborhoods like North Beach and the Wharf. And there's parking onsite for guests. This place is a major winner in all respects.

That I couldn't stay a week....

This was a great location and was really pleasant for a "budget" hotel. The beds were comfortable and it was very clean. Super close to Pier 39, the beaches on the bay, and Trader Joe's. The free parking was a big bonus since most other places in the city are $65+ for parking.

As described, there are no amenities (fitness center, restaurant, mini fridge, etc.). There was a noisy bar nearby on Columbus but it eventually quieted down. Earplugs were helpful.
