The location was everything! The amenities were great and we had warm enough weather to enjoy both the pool and the outdoor jacuzzi. The fluffy robes were perfect for enjoying the chilly mornings and enjoying the view.

Minor for other people but we would've liked a microwave in our room. We did enjoy the local restaurants but one day we did have leftovers that we brought home instead. Also, we might be a bit old fashioned, but we're not used to the Keurig-type coffees and didn't come prepared with our own. But that was minor compared to everything else that was great! Will recommend.

What a great stay. A little gem which surprised us. We were driving through to San Francisco and stopped here for the night. It was a step back in time but the room was cozy and spacious and had everything we needed, and if it didn’t they would have got that for us. We had dinner at the restaurant and the service was excellent as was the food. Staff were very helpful in letting us know what’s great in the area to see. We dropped into the little winery 5 minutes from there which was beautiful. We picked up a bottle of red from there to have around one of the three bonfires they light each night. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get a spot it was so busy so we went back to the room after sun down as it was too cold. We used the laundry facility which was helpful. About 15 minutes drive from there are the elephant seals, which is a must! There were people staying there that seemed to be regulars as this was a peaceful and relaxing place to stay which we enjoyed.

The woman that helped us at the front desk was very welcoming and helpful. Parking was right by our room. We really enjoyed the view and easy access to the lawn, pool, and outdoor fireplaces from our room. Our room had a fireplace with presto logs for a fire which was very nice. The bed was comfy. I didn't like the configuration of the big armchairs in the room. They were too big and clunky for the size of the room. They were positioned to look out the window which was a nice idea but just too big because it was easy to trip over the hearth. I would have preferred a refrigerator that I could use instead of a mini bar.

Loved it till we saw our room. Smelled like a bonfire in our room, snd immediately gave me a headache. Front staff rude from the get go. When I asked about our smelly room I was told they all have a wood burning fireplace and all smell. She told me I could get a refund!!! What the heck, especially after a 4 hour drive!!! Really? I asked if we could get a different room perhaps upstairs, which they found. I went to look at and it was completely different and no smell!! After that it was much better.

Only the one stinky room!!

Went for a milestone birthday. Hubby secretly called ahead and asked for flowers and when we arrived he asked for wine. By the time we parked and got up to the room, they already had everything in place. I was so surprised and hubby was so happy at how accommodating and quickly they worked to make on the spot requests happen for their guests. When we say that they are on it, they are on it. They would bring firewood on a continuous basis if requested. And no matter how small the requests, they would be there with a smile. I felt very pampered. Our fur babies were treated like family too! Ample grassy area for walks and access to the beach. Ordered room service for a dinner and a breakfast during our stay and we were more than pleased with the meals. All of the staff that we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Molly was so wonderful, and my hubby was very grateful for her assistance. Sunsets on the balcony were breathtaking. Cavalier is a hidden gem, and truly a special place.

I really had to think of something to put here. The only things that came to mind was some channels on the tv did not come in clear and the bed was a little firmer than I prefer. Will either of those prevent me from booking again? Absolutely not.

Excellent staff: Ruby at the desk worked out a reservation problem enabling us to remain in our same room even though second night was treated as a separate item and could have inconvenienced by necessitating changing to another room. Carlos made was so helpful with luggage IMMEDIATELY as we were going to our room. He also followed up making sure that our room was staying the same and having it tidied up. Anthony delivered our breakfast as soon as it was ready and delivered with a smile. Yintuk was an excellent waitress fir our mom's day dinner. The staff seems to be a family within themselves, therefore management must be doing a good job as well. The towels were soft and absorbing!

There needs to be a general face lift with scraping and painting. There needs to be a pad and pen in the rooms. A microwave would be lovely especially with possible left overs when staying more than one day. The mini bar/frig was large enough for us to store our OWN beverages and blue ice we bring with us on our trips.

The spacy rooms had a nice sitting area and terrace with a great sea view. The hotel is well located at a short driving distance to castle Hearst as well as the beaches to see the Sea Lions. A good location to start the CA 1 route south of the road blocks. The restaurant conveniently located at the same resort offer very good options for breakfast and dinner.

The rooms and especially the bathroom are quite tired and are ready for a renovation. Whilst the room had a fireplace we refrained of using it as the room was already smelling quite smoky.

Wow! Hidden gem of a hotel overlooking the Pacific Coast right off Highway 1. I don't think the pictures did the place justice. It definitely exceeded our expectations. We booked two rooms and they had interconnecting doors. A fireplace, which actually came in handy for the night we were there, in August! Go for the room with a patio, it's worth it! The room service food from the restaurant was really nice!

Nothing. I'd love to come back and spend more time at this place.

fantastic location, loved fire pits and benches - staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. restaurant was super convenient and yummy. Pool was very clean and heated - everyone was super friendly. beds were comfortable and shower pressure good.

It was a little smelly when we first arrived but we quickly understood that comes with the territory of being incredibly dog friendly by the beach - and we wouldn’t change a thing. It was also a little cramped but the staff were super accommodating and agreed to move out the table and chairs so we could fit our dog’s big crate in the room.

Gorgious location and scenery. Patio seating. Outdoo fire pits and game area. Restraunt. Deluxe King Suite was super nice. Staff was very helpful and nice. Pet friendly was important to us even though we found a pet sitter in time.

Fireplace in room was too smokey. Room smelt like camp fire when we walked in. We lit a fire that night and it smoked the room up. Maybe warn guest about the fireplaces. They may need more frequent chimey service.
