I stayed at the Brakeman on 2-5 Feb & 12-15 Feb 2023 (just before and immediately after a Carribean dance cruise). Although located just outside the French quarter, it is a 5-7 minute walk to get to Bourbon Street and the centre of the French Quarter. It is a relatively new hotel so the rooms are very modern. The location away from the noise of Bourbon Street and the centre of the French Quarter also ensured it was quiet so you can get a good night's sleep. The hidden gems of the hotel are the front desk staff. Mr Gregory Robertson, the night concierge is very helpful and is a mine of information about the city. His younger colleagues Jarvis and Ranisha are also very nice and helpful people. I am coming back to NOLA next year and look forward to staying at the Brakeman and meeting them again.

The hotel does not provide breakfast. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. It took me several attempts to work out the temperature control system for the rooms. Once I did, I got the room temperature to the desired level. Apart from these, the Brakeman is a very pleasant hotel to stay in.

The receptionists were friendly and helpful, the room quiet and comfortable with a large bathroom, and there was no noise from neighbors or traffic. The location is just 2-3 blocks from the old quarter yet quiet and very safe.

We could have used another chair so we both would have one. A microwave would have been nice. The small fridge sits on the floor making access a bit difficult and awkward.

The room was really clean and the bedding was comfortable. The front desk staff was extremely friendly. The room furniture looked brand new. I feel the value for money we got was exceptional.

There was some noise intrusion coming from the neighbouring room, which we found annoying.

Greats staff that are happy to recommend places for fun and food. Bed was very comfy, room surprisingly large. Everything really clean! Location is great - far enough for a quiet sleep, but close enough to walk to Bourbon Street, Frenchman Street and more

Amazing room, spacious, huge bed, beautifully clean. Staff were fab, location close to French Quarter, with secure off street parking.

Being super picky, just needed another mirror in the room over the desk/vanity, to use for make up.

The hotel is a few blocks away from Bourbon St and the police station is directly across the street, so that’s nice. My room didn’t have a window which was odd but it was clean. The bed was very comfortable and there was a large television which was nice.

Lack of amenities, room service, breakfast, etc.

The room and bed were big and spacious, bathroom was clean with good toiletries. The hotel is a great location, walking distance to the French quarter. Staff were friendly and helpful.

There was a door to the elevators near our room that slammed really loud anytime anyone used it.

Friendly staff and a lovely big room, easy walk to everything .

Very loud air-conditioning which made sleep impossible and without it the room was airless. A ceiling fan would have been perfect.

A big room with great furniture. Good internet. Good bed. Great location across from the police station.
