I liked the location of the motel. It was not too far from Lake Placid or the Adirondack Loj for high peaks hiking. The adjacent road consisted of a beautiful car ride alongside the Ausable River and falls. The facility and rooms were both clean and updated and had a wonderful cabin-like feel. The office had an assortment of games to borrow for added fun. No one was present at check-in, but the guest's last names were posted with the accompanying room number on the TV screen in the office. No keys or cards were needed to enter your room as it was a number pad preprogrammed to the last 4 digits of your phone...NICE! There were 2 pools onsite...a kiddie pool with fountain and the other with a diving board (and a surprisingly 9-foot depth). Both well maintained. A community fire pit was located in back between the motel and river. It was definitely a pet friendly motel with supplied waste removal bags.

No microwaves in the room, but the main office had one for community use. It wasn't bad for us as our room was adjacent, but it might have been more frustrating if we were further away. There was a small fridge/freezer unit in our room which was perfect.

The room was spacious and clean, very quiet. The bed was comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The check-in/out process was contactless and smooth. We chose The Hungry Trout resort based on location (very close to the skiing hill) and reviews. There is a restaurant and pub next door, very convenient if you don't want to drive to Lake Placid. I think this accommodation is amazing also in the summer - it's close to nature and it has a pool. We will definitely come back.

Check in was easy, do it yourself. One staff was there when we arrived, but gone before we had car unpacked. No staff after that. It would be nice to have known that restaurant and bar that were part of the lodge, would be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and the rest of the week, doesn’t open till 5:00 pm. Had to go elsewhere for meals. Tried to call for help but got no answer

Nice property. Nobody bothered you. Maid service good. Close to everything we did.

On arrival we could not get in our room due to them having the wrong number for my reservation. It was quickly fixed. Room needed some overall wall and ceiling fan dusting. Light/fan in the bathroom needed fixing. Curtains were hard to move and hooks were off. Needed a microwave.

The view of the mountains was incredible! The resort was conveniently located between Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain. Having a restaurant on site was a bonus. I liked the style of checking in and out. Not having a key card to remember was a plus.

The water was extremely hot coming out of the faucet, and I had to remember this when I was washing my hands.

- location is perfect, plenty of things accessible from there - the site of the resort is great just by itself with access to the river, outdoor games for everyone and the swimming pool - restaurant is absolutely gorgeous (meal view staff) - rooms are comfortable and very clean - pet friendly - at first the “no breakfast” can seem hard but actually it allows you to enjoy the multiple offers just around the corner in Wilmington (and you can still have your coffee in the room before leaving)

Location was excellent for hikers.. The bed was extremely soft and comfy. The young lady that cleaned the rooms was awesome. I had a question about rock collecting in the area and while she didn't know, she went out of her way to ask a knowledgeable friend. He/she was stumped too so she looked it up online. That was well out of her way to be helpful.

I would have preferred no carpet. Also the toilet seat didn't fit the toilet. A microwave would have been nice.

The hotel was exceptional, as was the hotel staff and manager. Super friendly and wonderfully accommodating.

The restaurant experience that I has was very subpar, namely that I waited 15 minutes for a hostess to seat me. Since no one engaged with me in that 15 minutes, I left and was not able to eat there.

Location was great, owner was very nice guy, beds were comfy, premises was nice, beautiful sunrise over the mountain trees, back yard was Whiteface Mt, had a nice pool, corn hole, horseshoes and park in front of your room. Will be back again!

The place could use some upgrades, bigger room for wheelchair and more better accessibility to enter into the room itself. All in all I thought it was a nice place with the exception of some touches/upgrades.

Cozy rooms in an excellent location with epic mountain views. Great staff and service (if you ever need it) The place has an outdoor pool and lots of outdoor space (including playground, hillside for sledding, and firepits). <5 mins from the Whiteface Mountain resort, self-check in. Will love to come back!
