The room was large and well equipped. Housekeeping was prompt and thorough. The front desk, especially Aliya was fantastic. There is a small convienence store next door and a Trader Joes within a block, plus an in-room fridge, which was fantastic. Location was close enough to walk to either Georgetown or the White House.
The onsite restraunt was overpriced and the food wasn't great, plus slow service. The bar was nice but overpriced, however the rest of the stay was excellent.

Beautiful place, nice big super clean room, friendly and attentive staff
2 points, both regarding cost transparency (not 100% sure if the hotels fault, maybe booking.com): a) confirmation said 80 USD deposit, it did NOT specify it was per night (also it had been raised to 100 per night) b) the booking confirmation did not mention the extra tax which was something like 15 dollars per night

Loved the proximity to the Metro. And restaurants within walking distance, and the Whole Foods nearby. The beds were super comfy and the room was spacious. Also loved the complimentary coffee downstairs each morning.
We stayed five nights..there was no changing of bed sheets, which normally would be after three nights. The housekeeper did not empty all our trash cans nor did she leave toilet paper, which we had to ask for. The maid service was lacking.

Staff is attentive and polite, anything that I requested was dully fulfilled immediately. I loved the flexibility for tidying up my room per request. Location is great, right in the middle of very nice neighborhood with a wide variety of restaurants, bars and spots that I like. The room was comfy, clean and spacious. The lobby is also nice for staying a while.
The historical tax of 18 USD per day that was not advertised in Booking.com beforehand, at the end my genius discount was diluted on that tax. I asked the staff anf they told me it was advertised on their webpage but not on Booking even though they were advised. Those surprises at the end are not nice. I had to pay the daily historical tax. The tapis at the bathroom has some stains, that makes it look old with no maintenance. Bathroom is spacious but not impressive, toilette and bathtub look really old fashioned and lighting is poor there. The bathtub faucet was a bit loose everytime I was afraid of breaking it. I would've expect a bit more of maintenance in such a hotel, details count.

The front desk associates — Aaliya, Leslie, Stephanie, Lelise —- were extremely helpful with directions and recommendations. Plus, each night I went down and they filled my water bottle with ice for me. I have a bad knee and the ice helps immensely. They always smiled and said no problem, that’s my job. The door person was also friendly. His name was Nega and talked with us each day he worked. The people in the restaurant also took time to ask where you were from, if you were having a good time. My daughter recommended this hotel as her family had stayed there last year. She travels a lot so when she recommends some place, you know it is excellent. Most importantly, it was clean! Thanks, Melrose, for making our stay awesome!
The only suggestion I have is that the overhead lighting could be expanded.

Very nice hotel, the room was well equipped, comfortable beds, shower pressure was great and warm water came immediately..it's funny to mentioned this, but after been in so many hotels you start noticing those details. The room was spacious 2 queen beds, big desk, a chaise long, small fridge, etc.The hotel in general is very good and I highly recommend it. The hotel doesn't have pool and I feel like it will be a must! But if you will be there for less than 3 days it's perfect. Location was great, it's walkable to Georgetown, but it's at least 30 to 40 min to National mall, we went there during the heat wave so it's better to take an uber and optimize your time, uber was around $10 so was pretty good. Also we found a parking lot for our car 2 blocks from the hotel (spot hero) $50 for 3 days (1150 24th street NW - 2400 M St.). The hotel has a small lobby, we didn't eat in their restaurant so I cant comment.
We had a room looking to a courtyard so not a very nice view, the carpet in our room was a bit old and stained, I think a good cleaning or change is needed. In general the the room was nice and clean.

The Melrose Hotel was very convenient to the function we were attending. The rooms were spacious, clean and included all the necessities needed for an overnight stay. The Beds are very comfortable. The front desk staff was nice and pleasant. This is a Historic building but kept up nicely and I enjoyed the refreshing cucumber/melon water in the lobby. The young man that helped with our bags was so pleasant. All of these made for a wonderful overnight stay. Oh, plus it was close to Georgetown which was a nice walk.
There should be some way to let guest know about the additional historic fee before check in.

Our deluxe king room was huge! So much space! Very comfortable bed and nice linens. Hot shower and separate area for makeup. We had drinks at the lounge and dinner and Jasmine was so super nice! We had huge crab cakes and they were delicious! We attended an event at the Kennedy Center and the hotel was only about 5 minutes away. Great location for that. I wanted to mention the lobby because it has SO MUCH seating and very nicely designed! Classy!
I think the bathrooms could be a bit larger but I realize the difference is having the living area larger. Our bathroom drain seemed a bit clogged and I do think the bath needs a bit of updating. We were a bit bummed that there was no restaurant or bar open between 11 and 5, but we made it work.

The room size was excellent, very comfortable and clean beds with a great view. The employees there are super nice and helpful. Rooms are cleaned every day with a change of towels which is appreciated. It's only a 2-minute walk to the metro station Foggy Bottom-GWU and a 15-minute walk to downtown Georgetown. There was an umbrella in the room for us to use, which was helpful because it rained on our second day there.
While the room was spacious, the bathroom itself with the toilet and bathtub was a very small space, you have to squeeze in to close the door, but I like that the bathroom was separate from the sink. I wish they would have taken some of the space from the sink area to make the bathroom a little bigger. There was a small homeless encampment nearby which made me a little concerned for my kids. One of them approached my kid and tried to grab him as we walked to the metro station. The breakfast was extremely overpriced, but the servers were terrific. My kid really wanted to eat there and we couldn't find the prices anywhere but decided to give it a chance. I got 4pcs of bacon, an English muffin, and a regular coffee which cost almost $20.

The staff is overall nice and ready to assist you. Rooms are large and have storage space. The location is convenient to the subway and relatively quiet. I cannot judge the restaurant as I have not tried it.
The rooms need to be renovated. The furniture is worn out as well as the carpet—some issues in the bathroom with mould spots and not perfectly cleaned. The stairs from the lobby to the elevator without a ramp are unacceptable. It is a pain to carry heavy luggage; I cannot imagine if you have trouble walking. A renovation would fix all these issues.
