First, the staff: very friendly, smile faces, positive attitude, empathetic people. Second: the rooms, the comfort and the cleaning

The staff was very helpful. The receptionist was very kind and she gave us a lot of information. We had some issues with the keycard, but it was quickly resolved. They let us check-in a lot earlier than the check-in time, which we really appreciated. The bed was big and very comfortable, there was air-conditioning, the TV had a lot of options, the bathroom was very clean... The room was perfect. The location was also great, right opposite the train station and a short walk to the city centre.

The water took a while to warm up in the morning, about 15 minutes, so the shower was not very pleasant.

A safe, modern and comfortable hotel directly across the the train station. Excellent and fast room service for an evening meal from the dining room.

One of the restaurant staff at breakfast was rude. It was a Saturday morning and on weekends breakfast is supposedly served until 10:30. When I arrived in the restaurant, she glared at me, looked at her watch and turned on her heel and walked away without saying a word to me. I had to go in and seek out other staff to find out how to get served. Breakfast was a decent buffet but the serving of coffee was parsimonious. I was given one cup and then ignored for the rest of my meal.

Our first impression of the hotel was great because the receptionist was very polite and communicative. She gave us a big family room, made a parking reservation for our car and make us feel welcomed. The hotel has big spacious lobby with comfortable seating. We appreciate that they offered a bottle of water (1l) upon our arrival and a small bottle of water for the coffee machine.

The bar was a disappointment since I ordered a Kir Royal. They served it in a margarita glass full of syrup (not liqueur) so I could not taste the champagne. Thought the room was spacious with one very comfortable double bed, the second bed for the kids was very uncomfortable.

Location is so close to the Bologna central train station. It made our day trips very convenient because of its proximity to the train station. It is also 12 minute walk to the piazza Magiorre where most of the medieval towers are located. It was a very pleasant experience. The room is spacious which makes it really great for a long stay. More importantly, customer service is above par - great staff and great service!

Fitness room needs more gym equipment and space.

The room was well positioned and very quiet. I loved the fact that the bed was situated away from the passage way, which reduced any noise in the room. This has been one of the best layouts for a hotel room I have seen. The bathroom was massive and plenty of space for toiletries etc. I could have stayed much longer in great comfort.

The front desk staff were very friendly & helpful, thou we did notice an inconsistency with the information we received in regards to room specials. We upgraded to a silver special which included access to water & cool drinks in the mini bar, thou we got charged for them even thou we paid for the special. Better communication at the desk would help with consistency.

The hotel is very beautiful is at the most comfortable place we could imagine, directly looking over the train station, which was of particulary helpful as we had to leave the city very early, so it took us a glimpse to get to the train. Moreover, the most comfortable if you have to take a bus anywhere you need within the city. The hotel was very clean, with all the necessary utilities, almost at the corner of the beautiful, sight street with lots of shopping and snacking opportunities on our way, leading us to the major sights of the city.

At the second day of our stay, we found out that the staff missed to clean up our room, however it was immediately fixed up once we noticed the administration.

The connection from the airport was excellent, cable train (7 min, tickets from the platform's automast 11e). Short train, stay standing :). The hotel is right next to the station, still a calm and clean environment. If you need a taxi, station nearby. The hotel is stylish, well maintained. The staff is friendly and professional (handsome male clerks :). The room was large, quiet, good storage facilities, good, firm beds, good air conditioning. Breakfast was a buffet and varied. A short walk to shopping, attractions, lots of restaurants, cafes and bars. Everywhere, very friendly table service, reasonable prices.

The hotel's breakfast room could be a little more comfortable and the breakfast room staff could be a little happier/more positive looking. The staff seemed a bit tired and absent. The staff's activities were not organized. Pointless running back and forth. for example: when a customer comes for breakfast, they usually want to drink something (coffee / tea). The staff will not ask what you want to drink before you try to get their attention. The staff doesn't even look at the customers?

Pretty much everything. We stayed for 6 nights and had a great experience. All staff we encountered (reception desk, breakfast, cleaners) were super friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location, right opposite the train station, suited our needs perfectly. Most of our favourite restaurants and tourist attractions were within easy walking distance (just a bit more than 1 km to Piazza Maggiore). If we come back to Bologna, we'll certainly check Starhotels Excelsior again.

Nothing much, really. If I have to mention something, it was a bit difficult to keep the bathroom floor dry when taking a shower. On one of the mornings, the breakfast buffet ran a bit low on some of the items.

Great and helpful staff at the reception. We had late check in and early check out and 24hour reception was important for us. The hotel is nice and its location is convenient in front of Bologna Centrale rail station. The room was large, we were in room 531 facing the parking facilities. We slept on closed windows and there was no noise.

Nothing to dislike. Only one recommendation . I prepaid our stay and at the end I was surprised to understand that we owe city taxes. Maybe there was written information somewhere that I missed. However this won't stop me from recommending the hotel as a nice place to stay in Bologna.🙂
