The location was centrally located and we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. The hosts were welcoming, approachable and very helpful with local recommendations and reservations. We had our favorite meal of our week in Florence & Tuscany at one of the restaurants they recommended (Bella Donne). The room was very luxurious and comfortable. There is a roof terrace which was a nice option. There is an elevator to get up to your room with luggage which was a nice surprise.

The room was a little on the small side overall including a small shower and vanity. It worked just fine but would have loved a little bit more space.

The property was so beautiful! From the moment you walk in the staff was so kind and welcoming bringing us cold water after a toast walk from the train station. The staff gave us so many amazing recommendations for places to visit and eat in Florence, as well as some tips for Rome which we were heading too next. Our room was so beautiful, comfy and cool. We looked forward to hopping in our plush bed every night after walking miles around Florence all day. This location is also super close to many of Florence’s main attractions and shopping. I could not recommend Porta Nera highly enough and will definitely stay next time we find ourselves in Florence!

Traveling with my wife and in-laws for the first time together in Florence. From the very first call-contact throughout our stay, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay as much comfortable as possible. Been myself in the tourism industry ( nearly 30 years) I understand and appreciate the effort, hard work and genuine willingness to make guests happy. And that exactly what I've got from Emanuela ( the manager) and everyone else at Porta Nera. This being said I would highly recommend this venue to those interested in a quiet location, but within a short walk to some of the most renowned sites of this wonderful city ( Piazza della Signoria and Santa Maria del Fiore at a stone's throw, less than 10 minutes) let alone the easy walk from the main station Santa Maria Novella, which is a great plus to access to high speed trains, many local/regional/intercity trains to continue your journey somewhere else in the country. This venue, kind of residence/boutique lodging, is located in a recently renovated four- story historical building ( with a comfortable elevator) has an onsite charming reception/hall , with common spaces, designed to seat guests while waiting to be checked in or to be use for working-relax. The house provides complimentary daily hot drinks, ( there is a Nespresso's coffee machine if you’re looking for espresso-style coffee with the ultimate selection of flavors) some snacks and fruit. A roof-top and free wifi throughout, make this venue an excellent find. All rooms at Porta Nera feature free WiFi and complimentary high-quality toiletries. Each individually styled room reflects the contemporary design of the venue, with luxurious fabrics and furnishings and hints of bold colors. Rooms are equipped with form-foaming mattresses ensuring you get all the beauty sleep you need after a long day of exploring the city. Highly recommended

Great location in old part of Florence, walking distance to Santa Maria Novella train station. Staff was exceptionally helpful, booked restaurant and taxi ride for us. Room was very comfortable, modern and better than the room we stayed at in a 4 star hotel in Florence earlier in our trip.

This is not quite a hotel, so if you are looking for certain hotel services such as a 24 hour front desk or a bell captain to handle you luggage, you won't find them here. Staff available from 8 to 8.

The location was wonderful, with everything to see and do within walking distance! The staff was incredibly helpful, especially when it came to restaurant recommendations and making reservations for us. Each place they recommended was outstanding! The room itself was relatively large, with a comfortable bed, modern bathroom and upmost cleanliness. Access to the roof terrace was lovely! We would highly recommend Porta Nera!

There is nothing we would change about our stay!

The staff was very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating and the room was very clean and updated. The location is on a quiet quaint side street and very central to ALL the main attractions in Florence - museums, historical sights, piazzas and parks - and to all the many wonderful restaurants, shops and the train station. We walked easily to and from the train station to take day trips to Venice and also Cinque Terre - Florence is a great central location, and then it was an easy train ride to Rome where we ended our vacation.

We loved everything about Port Nera!

We LOVED everything about this place, from the cleanliness to the incredibly nice staff who goes above and beyond to get you everything you need and make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. My partner and I just had an awful travel experience right before we arrived. Manuela greeted us and just completely turned our experience into the most positive one. We can't recommend this place enough. It is definitely a rare find and a hidden gem in Florence.

The property was in a good location with polite and helpful staff.

Upon initially booking, one of the pictures advertised of the property which appeared to be a part of the room, was in fact the lobby area. We were on our honeymoon, and every other property/hotel we have stayed in during our tour has made some effort to make our stay feel special, however at this property it wasn’t acknowledged at all (not that it must be, however every other property we have stayed in had made some effort of some kind.)

The location is just perfect, the design is unique, the atmosphere is 100% relaxed, the rooftop is a nice perk. But the main strength is the team which really exceeded our expectations. Nice going on this project and hope you will keep on delivering those smiles on the client's face. There is a 4 levels garage about 10 minutes walking distance which is open untill 2 AM, which is hard to find. Europa Garage I think.... For sure will come back....

The staff at the property went above and beyond to make us feel welcome at Porta Nera. They offered us refreshments on arrival and were so helpful throughout our stay. Porta Nera is located very centrally in Florence, about a 3 minute walk to the river and 5 minutes from the Duomo- perfect for our visit. It must be the cleanest accommodation I’ve ever been in- immaculate! We will be visiting again :)

The only good thing would be a box of tissues available in each room.
