Hotel Croce Di Malta

We love our stay here. It is a lovely hotel full of character, which has been recently modernised, which results in a slightly quirky feel, but is very comfortable. The courtyard and swimming pool are very pretty and the rooftop terrace provides phenomenal views of Florence. Staff are really lovely and very accommodating and we were lucky enough to have a room on the fourth floor with a balcony and again. It had brilliant views. The breakfast was very good but because we were here in high season, it felt as though there were too many guests and so getting up early to ensure there was everything you wanted, was advisable. The location is great, only five minutes from the station and about 10 minutes to most of the main sites. I would definitely return.

Just not enough provisions for the number of guests. Whether that was sunbeds (though to be fair, they manage well with the small space) or breakfast foods. My daughter managed to get a waffle one morning, but they ran out of Nutella. Next day, they had Nutella, but no waffles. Hardly the end of the world, but just a little irritating.

Beautiful hotel with spacious quite rooms... even our large family room that accommodated 6 facing the street was quiet at night. Great location. Superb breakfast (best I have ever had in Italy!) with freshly cooked eggs and bacon... and the best pastries, made daily at the hotel. Wow. Also, the swimming pool in the courtyard was AMAZING to take the edge of the heat of the summer in Florence. The staff were also absolutely wonderful, and always willing to help. A little pricey... but we had a big family of 7, and it was well worth it for us. We will DEFINITELY stay at Hotel Croce di Malta again when we travel to Florence again - especially in the summer!

We would have loved it if the beautiful breakfast would have been available until 10:30am or better yet 11am. Instead, it closed at 10am every morning which was just a little early for our family. Also, it would be great if they kept the rooftop bar open beyond 9:30pm in the evening. We never made it back once to enjoy the roof top before 9:30pm, our entire stay of 6 days.

Breakfast buffet - Coffees, croissants, fruits (tuscan melon was superbly sweet), and sitting area watching the green court yard. The ladies servicing the breakfast buffet and serving special coffees were very friendly and caring. Their friendly smiles and greetings in the morning were so heartwarming and pleasant. Our best regards to them. Bed was great and comfortable. Location, location, location :) it was within walking distance to the most must visiting places. Also near very quality restaurants. Getting excellent restaurants' recommendation from the desk was very helpful in our stay.

The rooms were comfortable and the staff always went above and beyond for anything we asked for - items to the room (eg iron, facial tissue), help recommending and reserving a table for dinner, calling a taxi, you name it. Everyone was friendly and treated us well. The rooftop bar is to die for. The rooms were cleaned daily and had great character. Would absolutely stay again!

The restaurant was still closed after staffing issues from the pandemic. They said they hope to open in the next week or two but would have been nice to access it on the day or two we didn’t feel like going out for lunch or dinner.

The hotel was centrally located in Florence, within easy walking distance of the main sights. The room was quiet, comfortable, well appointed and clean. There was a small balcony with a table and chairs, overlooking the pool and garden. The breakfast room had plenty of space for all of the guests to sit comfortably. Food cooked to order was available and the buffet offered a selection to suit almost every taste. The staff were friendly, efficient and competent. They appeared well trained and very professional. The barman went out of his way to be helpful. He offered small samples of Italian Liqueurs to taste. We were particularly impressed by the lady on reception. She gave excellent advice on the best restaurants to visit and spent some time trying to book a table for us in various restaurants. The restaurant she finally recommended was outstanding. This lady is a definite asset to the hotel.

We can't think of anything that was a problem. In fact, it would have been good to stay in this hotel a bit longer,

Very close to the station and short walk to all major sites. Relatively quiet street. Breakfast was good, with something for everyone. Staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful, and when an errant cleaner decided to hoover in the bar at 9pm while we were chatting, one word to the concierge had that taken care of in a second. Can't speak to the pool - temperature had dropped too much to want to use it while we were there, but it looked nice enough.

Bathroom was a little dark and quite cramped, but that's being picky. Some low level music in the bar area might have added atmosphere. Expensive, but it was Florence in August, so....

The location was perfect. our room was spectacular because we had a balcony with an amazing view of the Duomo. we sat there every morning and evening, just enjoying ourselves. We loved the rooftop bar!  the breakfast had many choices, and was delicious! all of the staff members were friendly and happy. we especially wanted to say thank you to Sylvia who works at the front desk. She worked very hard to get us reservations for dinner, and we enjoyed a magnificent meal at a beautiful  restaurant. She was such a smiley happy person !!

this was the most expensive property we stayed at in Italy. And it was a wonderful experience but I found it interesting that there was no shampoos soaps, etc. available in the rooms. We stayed up very inexpensive. Airbnbs at other locations and they supplies toiletries which is wonderful when you are traveling to not have to carry those type of things with you.

Centrally located, close to the station. I had a lovely large room which which was very comfortable and very well cleaned. The staff were perhaps some of the friendliest and most helpful staff I have met--from the cleaners and reception staff to those in the bar and those serving at breakfast. Check-in was super easy and took less than a minute and I REALLY appreciated the help and advice in navigating my way around buying a train ticket back to the airport. SUPER-SUPER helpful and I'm really grateful (and sorry I have forgotten your name :( ! ) Great job guys!! I had a wonderful stay and would come again.

I don't have any criticisms although water/coffee in the rooms would be nice for a 4 star hotel and the breakfast felt at times a little basic--but it was stilling filling and I never left feeling unfull.

Great location with city sites in walking distance. Hotel clean and tidy. Rooms refurbished and the hotel upgraded us from a triple to a 4 person room which was large, clean and comfortable, very comfy beds. Breakfast is exceptional with a choice of pastries, cereal, cakes and hot breakfast which set us up for the day. Staff helpful and approachable. We had a room overlooking the road which was great for watching the world go by but noisy on 2 of our night stays due to street cleaning which apparently happens once every 2-3 weeks and also a neighbouring hotel's 'black waste' being pumped. Our hotel helpful and offered to change our room to a garden room but we chose to stay where we were accepting that this is city life in Florence. Hotel having refurbishment which starts around 8 am but we did hear one 6 am. delivery. We had a most enjoyable 3 nights in Florence. Thank you.

Breakfast was excellent. A wide variety of choices and the staff made coffee for us on the spot. I liked that before we checked in and after we checked out, there were quite spaces to rest before leaving. The pool area was beautiful.

I had asked at the front desk about places to change money, and was given directions to a bank that was no longer at Plaza Republica. They also told me I wouldn’t be able to used my credit car to do this. We wandered around and found a money change that would take my credit card. On something like money changing,
